The cottage was lovely and cosy, just what we were looking for.. Ideal base for exploring Castleton and the rest of the Peak District. Would stay there again.

Towels were tiny - suggested they provide 'bath sheets' instead! Oven and baking trays were not very clean but everything else was great - really sweet cosy cottage and deceptively roomy. Lovely area too, so pretty and scenic. Would recommend this cottage.

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.. The standard of finish is really high - more like a home than a holiday warm. The décor perfectly balances traditional and modern with original features. I cannot fault the place. Always very warm, comfortable, fab facilities, truly dog-friendly, superb views of the Dales and Shetland ponies out back. The location was perfect as it was a 5-10minute walk away from every shop, bakery or pub you could need, but as it's on the outskirts of the village it is quiet, peaceful and looks directly onto the hills. The shortbread, ready milk in the fridge, dishwasher tablets and bottle of (delicious) wine were a welcome touch after a long journey and on a cold day. I will be booking this cottage again for sure. The only fault I could think up Is whether 4 TVs are really necessary? We barely used one! Thank you so much for such a memorable stay. If you ever consider selling, please get in touch!

We had a really lovely stay.. The cottage is really nicely done out with loads of character. The log burners made it feel very cosy on what was a very snowy weekend. It’s a very short walk from Castleton’s excellent local pubs and a number of excellent walks. Most importantly for us is the cottage was dog friendly as is Castleton. All in all a really lovely long weekend.

We really enjoyed staying at the cottage.. I think it might be worth the owners mentioning to any additional guests staying that cannot park outside the cottage itself that they don't park by the wall down the lane. Despite being told by the owners that this was ok & we parked as close to the wall as possible we still got a note from the council on the car telling us not to park there and the neighbour mentioned it to us swell. Apparently the refused collectors cannot get up the hill if a car is parked there. We wouldn't hesitate recommending this accommodation to anyone and look forward to coming back again

The cottage was in a perfect position for us as we spent 5 days walking and 1 day at Chatsworth.. We didn't need to use the car in the evening to go out to eat as we could walk to all the pubs for an evening meal. There were 4 large TVs in the cottage, we felt a bit over the top as we only used the 1 in the lounge. The cottage was well equipped, beds comfortable, 1 parking space and a very good shower. The lou seat was very loose and this had been reported in the visitors book in August!! but not dealt with. 2 light bulbs out in the kitchen which we left a note about. We had a great week and would happily come back again perhaps in the summer when we would be able to make use of the back garden and the perfect view. A great place to finish a day off with a glass of wine.

The cottage is in a brilliant location - close to centre of Castleton village yet well away from the busy traffic on the main road through the village.. Very comfortable bed - most important feature! And having sunshine every day did help. The owners were most attentive - one or two things needed fixing but they were put in hand quickly and had no adverse affect on our stay.

A really lovely, spacious cottage, with all the comforts of home, and the garden was nice to sit out and have a cup of tea.. Castleton and the surrounding area, is well worth visiting, and I recommend it to couples and families. We will definitely be back.

Buttercup Cottage was a lovely cottage to stay in.. As soon as we walked in it felt cozy and comfortable. It really was a home from home and a perfect location. The cottage is finished to a high standard and all facilities worked well. The home owner was quick to respond when we had a query about our stay. This was our first visit to the Peak District and Castleton proved to be a wonderful place to stay. We had fantastic days out walking and visiting local attractions. Being based in Castleton gave us the opportunity to eat locally, in great pubs, every evening of our stay. There is no doubt we shall return to Buttercup Cottage in future.

Stayed between Christmas and New Year.. Delightful cottage in a fantastic location. Just a few minutes walk to pubs/restaurants and local sites/walks. Cottage had everything we needed including a well equipped kitchen. Large comfortable sofas and a log burner to relax after walking. Christmas tree was lovely touch. Just wish we could have stayed longer.
