Excellent location for bus services to and from the Norfolk coast to enable to walk the coast path from Cromer to Great Yarmouth in stages.. Nearby "Swan Inn", friendly, good ale and good food.

This property is advertised as being for 5 people.. However it only has seating in the lounge for 4 people, the kitchen only has 4 chairs -the fifth person has to sit on a low garden chair, there are only 4 table mats too, and the metal framed 5th bed is uncomfortable and squeaky every time an adult turns in it!! So I'm not sure it is really aimed at 5 people (we had 3 adults and 2 teens). Storage facilities for clothes are fab in the master bedroom with a fitted wardrobe, but the twin room has only wicker baskets that cause damage to clothes as they have rough edges, and the small single room has no storage - the wicker baskets are only big enough for socks, not adult clothing, so clothes were stored in likes on the floor. The single bedroom has no mirror either! The bathroom is lovely and big, but the shower rail is at an angle and the shower curtain slips down when showering causing a puddle!! The shower curtain is coated at the bottom causing the bathroom to small foisty. The bins were full when we arrived , we put them out for the bin men when we left, there seems to be no facilities for them to be emptied if the guests before us don't put them out. There is only parking for 1 car, so again not good if a group are meeting for a holiday with more than one car. The neighbours complain if a second car is parked off the drive to unload -we discovered this half an hour after arriving whilst we unloaded with a harsh knock and word from the neighbour! The trucks on the main road are very noisy, if it was summer and the windows were open it would disturb sleep. On a positive note it was a lovely area, in walking distance of the broads and boat hire, and Tesco!!

We had a lovely stay at Burtons Mill.. The attention to detail was apparent and spot on, from the welcome tea and biscuits to the fabulous luxurious linens to the lovely homely decor. Perfect getaway on the Norfolk Broads!

What a find, this is a little gem of a cottage set in a beautiful location.. A stone's throw from Stalham Village with plently of choice for really good places to eat and drink. Although close to the main A149 as commented on unfavourably by the last review, we did not find this impacted on our enjoyment of this lovely cottage at all. Admittedly you can hear some slight traffic noise from the bedroom at the back of the house but the main bedroom is at the front of the house with no traffic noise at all. In fact we found it an advantage being just off the main road as it positions the cottage perfectly for exploring the Broads with Wroxham being 5 minutes one way and Potter Heigham 5 mins in the other direction. The cottage itself is immaculate, very cosy but at the same time deceptively spacious. The owners have created a very comprehensive guide, not only to the cottage but also things to do in the local area. They seem to have thought of everything! Talking of things to do, we hired a little boat and went out on the Broads which this time of year is an absolutely wonderful experience, it is so serene and peaceful, you hardly see another passing boat and with the advantage that you can moor anywhere! Unfortunately we could not do this directly from the waterfront at Stalham as they stop hiring at the end of October but they did advise us we could pick one up in Wroxham which was no bother at all, as previously mentioned, it's only 5 minutes down the road. Also i must just mention the fabulous restaurant that is a 30 second walk from the from door of the cottage called 'The Mermaids Slipper'. We didn't eat there this time as the owners go away for December and it's a quiet time of year for them but we have eaten there previously and it's a fabulous restaurant, one of the best in Norfolk as far as we are concerned. All in all, we found this cottage absolutely delightful in a perfect location and will be returning in the New Year with our friends. 5 star!

The fact that I have said that I would not rebook this cottage,is not due to the cottage itself, but to its position.. Obviously an agency is not going to tell you that the cottage is very near a main road - I mean very near -approx. ten yards. Fortunately, as there were only two of us, we were able to avoid sleeping in the bedroom which faced the road - the A149 - which was busy all night. Even sitting outside was blighted by the noise. Apart from that the position was fine- near a large boat yard. Unfortunately, the nearby reataurant was very expensive, so we dined else where.!

Lovely house in a quiet location a short walk from the river.. The house is deceptive and is like a Tardis inside, with everything required for a short break. Would definitely book again!
