We stayed here for a much needed family catch up. The cottage was super cute, clean and cosy. The host had thought of everything, including treats for our dog they were really helpful. The village is stunning with great pubs and little shops right on the doorstep. Couldn't recommend this place more!

This cottage was just perfect, all facilities absolutely spotless.. Owner made you so welcome. There was nothing you wanted that was not there. So very well equipped. Would recommend this for a superb getaway. If I have one thing to downgrade it was the stairs, my wife did have trouble because of her hips and knee problems found them a little troublesome to use. But we knew that before we booked, so was expecting it. It was worth the trouble though as it is such a well thought out cottage.

A lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and generally very well equipped.. There should be a proper ironing board, the table top one was not satisfactory. The cottage would be improved by a washer/dryer, I accept that we were aware this was not there when we booked; I had not really appreciated that there was so little outside space and no washing line. However these issues did not stop us from having a lovely stay. Owners were very friendly and helpful and cottage is an excellent base for exploring this lovely area.

The cottage was lovely inside and outside.. The local area and the near by villages were very picturesque and dispite the rainy weather forecast there was plenty of sunny spells to admire the view.. Will definitely return again in the future.

We fondly look back on our much needed break, in such a quaint village in the picturesque Peak District.. What made it more special was staying in this beautiful, well decored, well equipped cottage. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. It suited our needs perfectly. Jane, the most pleasant, sweet owner, has truly made sure that her lovely property is ' home from home' and spotlessly clean too. She has thought of everything! Thankyou Jane! And thankyou for the yummy scones on our arrival! This cottage really is the perfect place to stay when exploring the Peak District!

The cottage must have been one of the best kitted out places we've ever stayed in.. It had everything we needed. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. Loved the village setting, just perfect, with local shops and a few pubs that did very nice food. Surrounding areas great to explore and a local bus to Sheffield very handy. Very happy to recommend this cottage, you won't regret staying here. Perfect holiday home.

It’s always a great experience when the property you picked is even better in real life than the photos! The rooms are bigger than the pictures show, and the layout is great as the bedrooms are separated by a landing with the bathroom in the centre, so for two couples sharing it afforded lots of space and privacy. There is nothing that Jane hasn’t thought of - from scones and milk on arrival to being able to find niche items like a pizza cutter and a plaster (not related to each other!!) the cottage is perfectly and thoughtfully equipped. We couldn’t recommend Brookside Barn highly enough.

As a family of 4 plus dog this cottage was absolutely perfect. The cottage itself is immaculate and very well equipped. Rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size. Excellent shower and kitchen well equipped for self catering. Jane (the owner) was not intrusive but available if there were any issues (which there wasn't) and the homemade scones on arrival were a lovely touch. The table and chairs outside the front look out over the brook and village play park which allowed us to enjoy a glass of wine in the April sun keeping a watchful eye on the kids and planning the next days walk. The village has a plethora of pubs and a very useful Co-op and a fabulous sandwich shop. This is the perfect base from which to explore the Peak District we will be renting this cottage again. Thank you Jane.
Mrs Ventura, May 2019
April 2019
The only comment we would make is that there was not a garden or any outside area that was secure.. This cottage is publicised as pet friendly, but we couldn't leave our dog outside unattended and the park outside did not allow dogs. Also the church tower chimes every 15 minutes and started at 5 am. Otherwise a lovely cottage in a good location.

Firstly what a fantastic cottage, all aspects exceeded our exceptions, the attention to detail is what makes your holiday accommodation, and this ticks all the boxes.. great location, centre of village close to a Co-op shop and delightful pubs to eat all within walking distance, highly recommend Ye Old Bowling Green ask Jane the owner who lives next door for directions. we had a fantastic time here and made some great memories and friends. we would have no hesitation to return, its one of the best cottages we have stayed in with so much to do in this location. thank you Jane for all your help and for the welcome pack with home made scones tea coffee milk and some spring Daffodils on the kitchen table.

From arrival to departure the owners of Brookside Barn provided useful information and we had an enjoyable stay over New Year.. The Cottage was well-appointed, warm and cosy and centrally located by the stream in the village. Location great for higher walking routes and for gentler walking. Atmosphere & food at Ye Olde Bowling Green pub was good and home baked cakes the Grasshopper cafe in Hope. Owner welcomed us with home made scones - a delightful surprise. Would definitely visit again.

The cottage went way above our expectations for a holiday rental based on other properties stayed in. The standard of finish, attention to detail, cleanliness and comfort were second to none and we couldn't fault a thing. This property sets the bench mark for other to try and achieve. The owner lives next door and is on hand should you need anything and is very helpful, she also bakes nice cakes too !! I am almost reluctant to submit in case too many people get to hear about this little gem.

The owner has made this a home that you would be happy to move into and not just holiday in. This cottage is maintained and equipped to such a high standard and has set the bench mark for all others to try and achieve

What a truly lovely place - beautifully furnished, clean, equipped, stocked with all the little things you forget to take with you.. And a perfect location - in the heart of the village close to all amenities - the park, the co-op, pubs, ice cream shop, and yet so quiet and peaceful. Just perfect :-)
Mr Pearce
July 2018
Cannot fault the cosy cottage and it's location.. . There was a box of leaflets and print outs on walks in the area which was handy and I recommend the Bradwell walk which literally starts opposite the cottage! The co op was a life saver on Sunday evening when none of the pubs served food! The friendly host lives next door and she popped round once to check all was ok. All in all, a very pleasant trip!

This is a beautiful property, in a delightful village, close to many of the attractions which the Peak District offers. The scones and refreshments on arrival were most welcome. Every room was well decorated/equipped, with plenty of information and helpful literature about the area. Being from NI, we have to travel a considerable distance to get to Bradwell, but well worth the effort, in a cottage such as this. Highly recommended

The cottage and location were perfect.. Jane and husband (sorry we did not get his name!) were perfect and welcoming hosts. We particularly appreciated their flexibility with regard to leaving on Sunday. This allowed us to complete The Tour of the Peak cycle challenge and shower and clean before leaving. Thank you. We will be back.

Brookside Barn is a fantastic cottage ideally situated and to a very high standard and the welcoming scones and cookies and other little touches.. Jane the owner was lovely checking we were OK after exceptionally bad weather and bringing us some homemade lemon drizzle cake. From a personal perspective we found the double bed mattress incredibly soft and tended to mean rolling in to the middle (aware some people may like v soft mattresses).. The hoover was broken and therefore difficult to use. Otherwise we loved the property which was cosy and in great condition.
