Brightley Mill Barn is a superb detached upside down cottage situated in the hamlet of Brightley two miles from the market town of Okehampton. This cottage sleeps three people in two ground floor bedrooms, consisting of one king-size double and one single, together with a ground floor bathroom with roll-top bath. The cottage also has a first floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove. Outside the property there's off road parking for six cars. Electric Vehicle 7Kw Type 2 Charging Point - availability and cost by arrangement with the owners. Brightley Mill Barn is an excellent base for a couple or small family.

Two ground floor bedrooms: 1 x king-size double, 1 x single. Bathroom with roll-top bath, separate shower, basin and WC. First floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove.

Area
Okehampton is a busy market town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and near the highest and most dramatic areas of the moor, where Yes Tor rises to a height above 2000 feet. Okehampton has a prominent medieval castle overlooking a wooded river valley, the Museum of Dartmoor Life (where Tourist Information can be found) and Okehampton train station, which has been restored to its 1950s glory running trains along a scenic route to Meldon the highest station in southern England.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

When I booked I informed the gentleman that I would like to book for the Friday arrival for one week but may not be able to arrive until the Sunday which would reduce my stay to five nights.. There was no change to the price so financially no loss for Sykes or the property owner but out of courtesy could he check with the owner that this was ok. I was placed on hold for a while, the operator came back and confirmed this was fine. However when I spoke to the property owner she had not been made aware that we may only stay for five nights from the Sunday so I was disappointed with this.

A beautiful barn conversion.. Just outside Okehampton, so near to amenities. Plenty to do in the area or just chill around the barn and its surrounding land. Everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage. The property owners are really lovely and helpful. The barn is very homely and is furnished fabulously. The milk and biscuits were much appreciated on arrival ready for a much needed coffee. Will definately return in the future.

Fantastic little cottage, the decor was neutral and modern, the level of finish was very high and the bathroom was wonderful.. Being of an ‘upside’ down arrangement made the bedrooms much cooler, which was lovely in the middle of a heat wave. The garden was brilliant for our son, who played football in the field, played on the rope swing and waded through the river, which he loved doing. Although. the owners were away on holiday themselves, Mandy text several times to make sure everything was okay. Overall a fantastic relaxing break.

The layout of the cottage was well thought out, we were staying in the cottage when the weather was very hot, because the bedrooms were on the ground floor it was very comfortable for sleeping plus it was a very comfy bed.. We can't praise it enough,good kitchen and lovely bathroom. I just wish I could of left a message in their visitor comment book but I'm just getting over a broken wrist and still unable the write. As a photo guide book (In barn itself) tells you this accommodation was a barn conversion.. As such it was designed from the start to be a holiday let. This shows in the quality and layout of the barn, I couldn't fault it.Well done to owners and builder...... My wife and I both agree its the best holiday stay we've had. Owners were very approachable and are there to assist if needed. Ask them about the small walk at back of property along river. Barn was very conveniently placed for walks on Dartmoor. We did a lot of walking and didn't have travel more than 45 mins to furthest side of Dartmoor itself. We will definitely be going back.....

Owners bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed and are very welcoming.. The site is perfect for its tranquility and ideal for us as we cycled the Coast to Coast route, in sections, and wanted a central base halfway along the route. The owners provided us with secure storage for our bikes and even provided early learning books/toys for our baby granddaughter who visited for a few days. My wife and I are seasoned travellers and can honestly say this was one of the best rentals we have ever made. Congratulations to the owners for getting everything spot on.
