Brendan's Cottage Coastal Cottage description

Holiday home
This traditional detached cottage is set in a quiet position at the water's edge between the villages of Chapeltown and Knightstown, on Valentia Island. The property has been skilfully restored to maintain much of its original character whilst still providing a comfortable standard of accommodation and convenience. The property is able to sleep up to three people over two bedrooms and boasts a welcoming open fire and pretty gardens to the rear. The property is also within easy reach of the amenities and activities in Knightstown, as well as offering beautiful views across the water.

Located on Valentia Island - which lies off the coast of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry – Knightstown is a wonderful spot for a holiday. Easily accessible from the mainland by a ferry that runs from Reenard Point, or via the road bridge at Portmagee, Knightstown provides restaurants and pubs, as well as entertainment and local shops. It also offers a variety of sightseeing boat trips and fishing trips from its picturesque harbour. With around 650 residents, Valentia Island was the site of the first permanent communications link between Europe and the United States, and is famed for its magnificent 'Fogher' sea cliffs and its subtropical gardens at Glanleam House.

County Kerry is a mystical and unspoilt part of Ireland, with spectacular natural beauty and a fascinating history. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, it features many sandy beaches, rocky inlets and stunning peninsulas.

The cottage was marvellous and near to village and sea for walks, yet private and secure. We would recommend it for exploring the island or just relaxing.

In fact, this year was the second time we stayed at Brendans for our summer holiday. Brendans cottage is a charming, traditional place to explore Valentia and the Kerry coast. The small garden is perfect to relax, the way down to the strand is just a couple of meters. The cottage has all facilities needed - the kitchen is well equipped. Brendans cottage has a very friendly owner who did all to make our stay comfortable.

Lovely cosy cottage. Short walk across the road you have a lovely view of the Sea. Have to go down a slope to have nice walk on the beach. The town was nearly 2km away but views were lovely from Knightown. Was a pity the patio area was very small. Spotless cottage - Valentia is a beautiful area to explore.

We had a magical time made even better by the owner's kindness.. Milk & cake in the fridge, turf & matches by the fire. Valentia Island is a very special place. Thank you - we shall be back

Brendan’s cottage is in a charming location.. Easily accessible from the Ring of Kerry by a road bridge and/or ferry boat. Valentia Island turned out to be a very interesting place of important historical significance. This is where the first cable Telegraph transmissions to North America took place, it also has prehistoric tetrapod tracks fossilised along the rocky beaches and of course you can take a boat trip to Skellig Michael to the famous filming location of the latest Star Wars movie.
