This is a lovely, quaint, 'old-school' cottage, but with all the modern conveniences. It is well-maintained and has all the amenities one could ask for. The two bedrooms are small but very cozy. The living room is a good size. The kitchen is small but compact and manageable. The beds are very comfy. The patio area is fine. The garden is a piece of Heaven, but bring fly/bug spray or you'll be eaten alive by midges!! The bathroom is small but fine. The shower room is separate from the toilet and is also fine, but the shower area needs a lip, or more of a dip, as the floor tends to get very wet. The garden could do with some slabs, as you would drag mud into the house on a wet day. Lovely scenic area with a short drive to Knightstown, and you also have the Ring Lyne pub and restaurant which sells some tasty food. If you like the 'sound' of silence, this is the place for you and three guests. I think that covers just about everything.

We have just returned from a really enjoyable stay in Brendan`s cottage.. Everything about it was just perfect for us and our host Peter was most welcoming. He filled us in on the amenities and attractions on the island which was really helpful. Good weather was an added bonus for our stay. We were so at home in our cottage which was so well kitted out. We would highly recommend Brendan`s Cottage for a relaxing break in a very beautiful part of the country.

Great spot.. Very convient for us for traveling around the area. Just to advice people there is no local supermarket so make sure you bring plenty of provisions . It was ideal for us . Cottage was very clean & had everything we needed. Remote so may not be everyone’s choice . If you are looking for quiet & relaxing it’s the place for you

Simply exhilarating, literally nothing we ever wanted that we didn't find in the house with a splendid environment on a picturesque island!

Peter, the owner of Brendan's cottage, seemed like a nice man and was quick to respond whenever we had questions or problems, which we really appreciated.. That said, the cottage had lots of quirks. The most stressful quirk for us was that we were being charged for all the gas heating and electricity we used while staying in the cottage, as reflected by the meter reading. (This was mentioned in the listing, but it's so unconventional that we didn't notice/understand it when we were making our booking). We stayed for six days and only ended up paying $13, so the expense wasn't bad. However, we were very anxious during our first night or two in the cottage, before we had gotten a good estimate of how quickly our energy expenses could add up. The cottage itself was kitschy, not necessarily in a bad way. It did have spots of mold in a few places. The location was beautiful, and the garden was huge and lovely. All things considered, we were happy to move on to our next bnb when we left.

We had a magical time made even better by the owner's kindness.. Milk & cake in the fridge, turf & matches by the fire. Valentia Island is a very special place. Thank you - we shall be back

The cottage was marvellous and near to village and sea for walks, yet private and secure. We would recommend it for exploring the island or just relaxing.

Brendan’s cottage is in a charming location.. Easily accessible from the Ring of Kerry by a road bridge and/or ferry boat. Valentia Island turned out to be a very interesting place of important historical significance. This is where the first cable Telegraph transmissions to North America took place, it also has prehistoric tetrapod tracks fossilised along the rocky beaches and of course you can take a boat trip to Skellig Michael to the famous filming location of the latest Star Wars movie.

Lovely cosy cottage. Short walk across the road you have a lovely view of the Sea. Have to go down a slope to have nice walk on the beach. The town was nearly 2km away but views were lovely from Knightown. Was a pity the patio area was very small. Spotless cottage - Valentia is a beautiful area to explore.

In fact, this year was the second time we stayed at Brendans for our summer holiday. Brendans cottage is a charming, traditional place to explore Valentia and the Kerry coast. The small garden is perfect to relax, the way down to the strand is just a couple of meters. The cottage has all facilities needed - the kitchen is well equipped. Brendans cottage has a very friendly owner who did all to make our stay comfortable.
