Break Away Beach Cottage description

Holiday home
Break Away is a cosy Cornwall cottage, attached to the owners' house in a quiet residential street of individual houses, in the Cornish village of Tywardreath, near Fowey. With one double bedroom, and a sofa bed in the open plan living area it sleeps three. There is an en-suite off the bedroom with a walk-in jacuzzi bath with shower over. Outside this cottage there is a paved area with garden seating, an ideal spot to catch some Cornish sunshine, and off road parking for one car. Break Away is a great holiday home for all.

Tywardreath is a village in Cornwall, surrounded by the beautiful landscapes and rugged coastline which inspired the literature of Daphne du Maurier. In fact, the village name means The House on the Strand, and it appeared in her novel of that name. The world famous Eden Project is 3 miles away, the beach at Par Sands is around a mile away, and the coastal town of Fowey is a lovely afternoon out.

Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.

Gas central heating. Combination microwave/oven and grill, fridge, TV with Freeview, DVD, iPod dock, WiFi, selection of books and games. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 1 car. Small paved area with garden seat. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shops and pubs 10 mins walk.

Break Away is a comfortable little cottage, next to the owners' home (useful if you need something!). The owner is very welcoming and helpful, but not intrusive. Well-situated for a variety of activities: Eden Project, the Coast Path, several small beaches. Plenty of pubs and restaurants serving good food in the area, including one within walking distance in the village (the New Inn).

The cottage was nice and central for seeing different places. The owners were really nice and helpful but not intrusive. There are a nice selection of shops nearby and friendly pubs for eating out and a train station close by if you wanted to leave car behind. It's also close to the Eden Project.

We arrived slightly concerned that we would struggle to reach places without access to a car, but the location is perfect. The train station is just 5 minutes walk away, as are several surprisingly well-stocked shops, with a full supermarket only 15 minutes walk. Just beyond the shops is the perfect beach for evening walks and barbecues.

We loved the personal touches at the property with home-made cookies and milk left for us. The owners were really nice and friendly but also left us to our holiday too which was nice. Good train link to other places in the area and Fowey was really close by which was great - we did need a car to get around but that was fine for us.

We really enjoyed the location of the cottage.. There were days when we didn’t need to use the car because of the proximity of walks and local amenities. The cottage was extremely clean and the owners very pleasant - a bottle of milk and cake were there on arrival. The combination cooker and small worktop area meant that meals needed a bit more thought if you chose to prepare meals in the cottage. But it was easy once you got used to it. The only thing we missed was a small freezer box for our blue boxes though I’m sure the owners would have obliged if asked. We would happily book again.

There was a clear instruction to contact the owners for details of picking up the keys, two mobile phone numbers were given.. I rang the numbers in the week before going to Cornwall, all my messages went to voicemail but there were no replies. I rang Sykes who also tried to contact the owners but with no luck. On the Friday evening, 12 hours before I was due in Cornwall, the owners finally got in touch to explain about key collection. They apologised and said they had spent the week in an area with no mobile phone signal. That's just not good enough and Sykes need to have a procedure in place with details of key collection as this could well happen again with any property for any number of reasons. I was a the point of wondering if I had a holiday to go to on the Saturday, I had to make a decision if it was worth the long drive to Cornwall. Sykes staff tried their best to resolve the problem and the owners were apologetic but it should never have happened. Having realised there was no mobile phone signal the owners should have contacted Sykes by landline so that Sykes could have rang me to explain the key collection.

This was our second stay with Bill and Mary and every bit as enjoyable as the first time.. This is a fantastic part of the Country and has all that we require within an easy drive. A large Tescos a few miles away or pop in to the local Butcher and General Stores in Tywardreath Village. Opposite them is the New Inn for a lively atmosphere in the bar or a great meal in the dining room. There is something for everyone, couples young and not so young. Try Break Away for a quiet chilled out break but with loads to do on the doorstep. Could go on but we must leave the rest for you to experience. .

Despite problems, we had a very good stay at 'Break Away'.. Bill and Mary could not have been more friendly and helpful. The cottage is near Par railway station which made it easy for us to visit places like Newquay and Truro. We would love to go back!

As a leg amputee this little annex property met all my needs.. The shower was ideal to access from a wheelchair. The handrails were most useful and the shower stool a bonus. Thank you to Bill and Mary for allowing my disability buggy to be charged as needed. A lovely relaxing holiday spent exploring all the little nearby coves, enjoying local pub grub and wandering some beautiful local countryside.
