Brant View is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location which is well situated for days out in different places around the lake district, peak district and Yorkshire dales.. The owners were very nice and the daily visits from the sheep dogs were a wonderful addition. The dining table that turns into a pool table is a great feature which made the evenings even more entertaining. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be booking to go back again.

The owners went above and beyond to fulfil the needs on our trip - even rescued us when we got a flat tyre! The cottage was stunning and so traditional. The bedrooms all had comfy beds and the views from the cottage were breathtaking as described, 100% recommend

Great location for visiting the Dales and the Lakes. House is immaculate with every possible item needed at hand. Quaint but perfectly maintained. Stone built cottage but without the downsides. Warm, great fire, fittings all modern and effective. Bed very comfortable and as warm as you want. Very peaceful place, only five minutes into Sedburgh - really nice pubs (Black Bull is stylish with great food, including breakfasts) and cafes. Walks on doorstep if needed. Keswick 25 mins away, Windermere just beyond if you fancy lakes instead of hills. The owners are very responsive if needed, not that there is anything much that isn't already catered for. Recommend.

The cottage we hired far exceeded our expectations.. The surroundings were gorgeous and the cottage was perfect - Complete with dogs, turkeys and chickens to really complement the perfect country stay. All the facilities were great and perfect for our group of 5. The pool table come dining room table, was especially great. From the beginning of our trip Mrs Joyce was an accommodating and helpful host. She was always nearby, or contactable if we needed anything and really went out her way to make sure we had everything we needed. 5 star stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Brant View with its peaceful and beautiful surroundings.. It was lovely to be staying at a farm seeing everyday the sheep, chickens, a turkey and of course, the owner's two friendly Border Collie sheepdogs. The owners looked after us ensuring we had a lovely time.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Brant View.. The cottage really is like a home from home, we felt relaxed as soon as we first walked through the door. We were holidaying as a family of 5, the youngest being 8 and the cottage was perfect. The children loved being met most mornings by the Turkey sitting on the door step, or the very friendly dogs waiting for a play in the garden. The owners, who are very attentive but not intrusive could not have been more helpful, even taking in my washing when we were out and it began to rain. We holidayed during a hot, sunny and mainly dry spell and so did not need any heating on, there was however instant and plentiful hot water when ever we needed it. The windows in the bedrooms have wooden shutters which we all liked and we slept with the windows open and the shutters closed most nights. We went for a walk up the nearby Cautley Spout, Englands highest waterfall above ground and continued to walk on the fells when we'd reached the top. The Lakes are not far from the house and we had a swim in Wast water, England's deepest Lake. Closer to Cautley, Sedbergh is just a short drive away and a lovely village, lots of walks and playing in the rivers, it also has a great older style sweet shop....lots of jars of sweets on the shelves which the children loved. We had a wonderful and peaceful holiday at Brant View coming home feeling refreshed and rested.(The children did not want to leave, one cried....a true mark of a great cottage and holiday)

Arrived in the property up a track with wooland sides,to the first glimpse of thecottage.Very pretty surroundings, even the external presentation was pleasing. We met Mrs Joyce with the key,and were shown round with emphasis on any important points. First glance at the living room, all three of us were shocked by the size, very large, the online pictures dont do it justice!!Also that the bedrooms are on a second floor, wasnt clear from the images, very nice. The views across the valley are impressive. Its a short drive to Sedbergh, about 3kms ish. We had indepth conversations with Mr&Mrs Joyce, who made us feel welcome, would help us with anything if we needed. We spent most of our week, walkineg and caving around the Ingleton and Clapham area, and it was a pleasure to arrive back at our cottage in the evening, all in all,10/10 For location, comfort, hospitality, and we will be back next year!!!

First time here for a 5 night stay and enjoyed every minute. Brant View is warm, comfortable and secluded; a great place to relax and explore a beautiful area. The cottage had everything we needed including the all important open fire for chilly evenings and a lovely garden when the sun shone.

December 2017
Brant View was as described in website.. A comfortable barn conversion, very clean and spacious. Owners are very very accommodating and extremely pleasant. Their two sheepdogs are adorable. Being December the weather was cold and crisp but we were kept stocked up well with logs and kindling for the open fire - really cosy. The setting is beautiful with walks direct from the door. The athletic one in our party enjoyed the steep climbs around the cottage and spent most of his time walking. We visited a couple of the market towns and also the Lakes, we endured a white knuckle trip over the Buttertub pass in part icy conditions - not for anyone with a a fear of heights. Would definitely visit again.

The owners made us feel so welcome and they are two of the nicest people I have met. They were both very kind and helpful. Sedbergh/Kirby Stephen area is quite literally Far from the Madding Crowd, much quieter than in the central Lake District. You can just walk around in the nearby hills that have fantastic views. The working farm is in a great setting, if you enjoy walking, and the owners were very friendly. On our trip in Easter we had sensational weather!

Escaped to Brant View for a week of utter peace and quiet and got exactly that! The location is perfect being situated away from the main road and in the tranquility of the countryside. Only a few miles from Sedbergh for local amenities and very pleasant walks/ drives in the countryside. The house is perfect with plenty of space to chill out and relax. The kitchen is ample and cooking utensils are satisfactory. Very spacious sitting/ dining area and the real fire is a delight, especially at night time. Bedrooms comfortable and the wooden shutters on the windows certainly block out the light to ensure a good night's sleep. Would gladly recommend for those seeking to get away from it all!

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Brant View and it wont be the last, since the last time we visited Alan and Lily have added another good sized double bedroom and joy of joys a pool table. The property now sleeps 6, 1 x king, 1 x double and 2 x single beds. The cottage is very spacious and has been renovated to a high standard, the surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful. Being situated away from the main road its very quiet and peaceful and is a great place to kick back and relax. It is in an ideal spot to use as a base for both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District national parks. The owners are extremely friendly and are an absolute pleasure to deal with. This is the nicest cottage we have ever stayed in hence the 3 visits so far !!! and i would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.

The cottage is placed in a quiet location with magnificent views, the owners were very welcoming and helpful. Due to the time of year, they had lambs that they allowed us and our child to bottle feed, and their dogs were very well behaved and patient. The open fire has to be experienced.

Charming hosts, comfortable place to stay - we have stayed at Birks Farm - both in Brant View and Knotts View three times and would have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation. We stayed longer than a week at all times and Lilly was very kind to give us extra linen and towels too! The open fire place in Brants View was a joy and Alan got some logs for us... we enjoyed playing with the 3 dogs and had some wonderful walks around the area. There are some good eating places nearby - so all in all would def. go back
