Bramble Barn description

Holiday home
Bramble Barn, a detached, former three bay cart shed, now converted to a bright, tasteful holiday home. One mile from the historic town of Shaftesbury, the barn has views over the surrounding woodlands to Duncliffe Hill and Blackmore Vale. The surrounding garden is lawned, with a half cartwheel shaped patio. The stylish living space has lofty exposed roof trusses, oak floors and full height glazed doors where the original openings for the carts would have stood. Gather around the refectory style dining table, or take time to relax in front of the impressive stone fireplace. There are two bedrooms, the master double and a neat twin, as well as a shower room suite. Bramble Barn is well placed to explore nearby Shaftesbury and the Blackmore Vale.

The pretty and historic town of Shaftesbury in Devon offers wonderful views from Gold Hill (the famous Hovis advert was filmed here) and the ruins of Shaftesbury Abbey. Other attractions in the area include Longleat Safari Park, Bath and Stonehenge. This town also sits just outside of the Cranborne Chase AONB, incredible for walking, cycling and fun-filled events.

Explore the fossils and stunning beaches of Dorset's Jurassic Coast, visit historic Sherborne and Shaftesbury, or enjoy the footpaths, country lanes and thatched-roof pubs Dorset offers

In general we were very happy , however the main gate posed us a problem.. Our dogs are small and had we not found some way to block the gaps the little devils would have escaped. The rest of the garden was secure and provided a great area for them to play and explore. In the listing pictures the is an outside table , but this was nowhere to be found . Great shame , as we would have like to sat outside on a the warmer days and eaten.

We stayed at Bramble Barn for Christmas and had a lovely time.. The owners even put up a Christmas tree for us! The cottage is very spacious and well equipped. Quiet, peaceful location, with wonderful views of the countryside. The dogs enjoyed watching the deer from the garden. Highly recommended

Bramble Barn is lovely but would be even better if it had Wi Fi..

We love the situation of this cottage and the fact that we can let our dog roam in the garden.. The Cottage is well equipped and comfortable, but the damage other peoples dogs have done to it it’s quite startling. Not that it affected our stay in any way, it was just sad to see. There are lots of lovely dog walks around and beautiful places to visit. The one drawback for us it’s no Wi-Fi. This was our third visit and each time we found it difficult to handle but now we have a son at boarding school it is crucial. There is no way the school can contact us as there is no phone signal either. We needed to go to a cafe every day where they had Wi-Fi.

Really enjoyed our stay.. Bramble Barn is in an ideal location, in the countryside but close to towns and pretty villages. Comfortable and top marks for cleanliness. Recommended.

Bramble Barn was an amazing place to stay.. Clean, tidy and peaceful. Plenty of utilities, plenty of room. Cozy home from home. Frank ( our dog ) loved the garden and the huge walking fields opposite the barn. We also enjoyed watching the local family of deer grazing in the opposite field and our trip to Waldour Castle. If you want a relaxing getaway this is the place to stay.

A beautiful barn set in the most tranquil area.. The views were lovely and the barn had a ‘home away from home’ feel about it. A perfect place to relax and unwind.

We were very disappointed that there was no wi-fi connection.. Although this was not listed we, wrongly, assumed that it is a given. Bramble Barn looked very tired. The furniture was very tired. There was no dishwasher (although this may not haven been listed also, can't remember). The iron did not work. The garden furniture was tatty and broken. The nice picnic table in the website picture was nowhere to be seen. In spite of the above, we still have a good stay but we would not stay again.

We had a lovely time in the cottage it was beautiful The garden was beautiful just a few little bits where there was no fences so the dogs got out, they never went far just next doors had a few gaps in the hedges.. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family and will be booking again.

Fabulous week.. Bramble Barn is located in such a beautiful, scenic and peaceful setting, my children loved having Cows as neighbours - endless laughter. (They named them all!) The Barn itself whilst looked clean, wasn't up to my standards. Lots of spider webs, dust and bathroom floor was filthy, not to mention the mould in the cutlery tray! However as lots of cleaning products were available within the barn this was rectified after a few hours TLC. Plenty of equipment within the kitchen, everything you would expect and more. I loved having such a light bright large kitchen with countryside views. The living area was also extremely spacious and having such huge windows without being overlooked meant we never had to close the curtains and hide the wonderful view. One thing I will say though is that sofas need replacing as they offer no support and are worn out, I felt like I was sat on the floor at one point as the 2 seater was so low to the ground I had to climb off it! Bedrooms are comfortable, enough storage space. Carpets do need replacing though. All in all a fabulous place to stay, with improved cleaning, some replacement furniture (including the broken outdoor patio table) this could be 10 out of 10. Great value for money though, I will definately recommend Bramble Barn.

I felt slightly mislead when making the booking because of the extra charges which weren't obvious until I started the actual booking.. For example £35 per week for heating and £30 per dog.
