This is the second time we have booked Bowsden Hall Farm Cottage and were not disappointed.. Everything was as expected and once again lived up to our expectations. Car access is a little tight but manageable. The cottage has it all in accommodation, bedroom space and outside facilities. An excellent location. We will be booking for a third time.
We loved the cottage and it had everything we wanted in it.. It was an excellent place from which to explore the area.
However, given the current circumstances of Covid-19 we all felt it could have been a bit cleaner. There were toe nails in a drawer in the twin room! There was toothpaste on the upstairs bathroom tap and the empty cupboard in the kitchen wasn't clean. Our instructions were quite clear that we were not to leave any food but when we got there, there was tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper in the cupboards in open packets.
There were only four wine glasses for a cottage that sleeps five so we bought a box of four. The bottom shelf in the fridge broke and it became apparent that it had already broken and been glued back together. My husband bought some strong glue and repaired it. One dessert bowl was broken.
The cottage was in an excellent location for discovering Northumberland.. In a quiet and well kept village with good neighbours. On arrival the central heating system wasn't quite working correctly but following a phone call to the owner a plumber called the next working day to rectify the problem. The accommodation was better than we expected in terms of spaciousness and facilities e.g. 2 showers, upstairs and downstairs and 2 toilets also available. Parking was just off the road and a lovely private garden. The owner could not have done more to ensure that we enjoyed our holiday. If we visit Northumberland again, which seems likely, we will come back to Bowsden Hall Farm Cottage. Thank you for the opportunity to show our appreciation to the owner.
Comfortable cottage in a good location for exploring the sights and attractions of Northumberland ..
A smooth easy and simple booking process made the stay even better and the whole week went blip free..
The cottage was in a good position for touring the Northumberland Coast.. It was warm and comfortable.
Peaceful, cosy cottage with great dog walks on the doorstep.. Away from it all but not cut off. Weather unexpectedly cold, but heating really efficient and lots of hot water. Good facilities, good decorative order - front sitting room could do with an update and instructions for heating need to be more obvious - note stuck to boiler perhaps? Excellent base for the beautiful Northumberland coast and Holy Island.
The cottage was easy to find with perfect instructions for locating the key.. There was good, solid off road parking with plenty of space for two cars. Inside there was plenty of room, it was very cosy, clean and well supplied with placemats, tons of cutlery, cooking implements, pans, etc, as well as more than enough cups and glasses and a variety of plates and bowls. The internet code was easily discovered, the house was warm, the seating comfortable and the back garden very private. We all slept well and had more than enough room for the four of us to mingle or have privacy. Alnwick was approximately 40 minutes away, the standing stones at Duddo are worth seeing approximately 20 minutes away, the village is quiet, but Lowick is a short drive away and can definitely recommend the Black Bull Inn there. Food is gorgeous and staff friendly. Will definitely book with Sykes again.
Instructions to find keys were easy to follow.. The cottage was exactly as we had expected and required. The booking system was easy to use and reasonably priced,
Great location for visiting a range of tourist sites in Northumbria.. Very pleasant and quiet village setting. Well-equipped property with ample space and good-sized garden. Off-road parking for two cars was much-appreciated. Pleasant neighbours.
The cottage is very comfortable and clean, with everything we needed for a great stay..
Lovely cottage in a quiet little village, a little bit away from shops or pubs and restaurants..

I stayed in January and had a lovely time; the cottage is a great size with lots of character. Great shower, really sweetly decorated bedrooms and lots of nice books to choose from when curling up next to the fire. The location is great - really near Holy Island and Bamburgh, and also the fantastic pub, The Black Bull. Would highly recommend and would love to go back in the warmer weather.
Quiet location but very handy for Berwick and it's attractions as well as the more rural attractions e.. G Heavy Horse Centre, steam railway at Heatherslaw etc.
The Cottage is very comfortable and well equipped.. Having a secluded and sunny back garden to sit out in the early evenings was a bonus. My only comment is that the listing was not clear on the location of bedrooms and we thought there was a downstairs bedroom. There are three upstairs and a sofa bed downstairs. However this did not give us a problem. The setting is a lovely quiet village but with easy access to many places worth visiting, and not far from the A1.
The summer room was very warm & welcoming and we spent most of the time in there. The bathrooms were excellent providing both bath & showers. We will certainly consider returning there.

The cottage was within easy reach of the castles and other attractions we planned to visit in Northumberland.
Really lovely cottage ,very spacious and well equipped, secure garden and private with high fences, had two separate living rooms which allowed us all to spread out ,we are family of five, all boys .very quiet village ,short drive to coast and other attractions.exceeded our expectations ,very good value for money especially in children's school hols.We will be back
Beautiful quiet village to stay in only 10 minutes drive from Berwick upon Tweed and Holy Island. The cottage has a quirky layout and is extremely well equipped. The neighbours either side are welcoming as is everyone you bump into around the village. The cottage is pet friendly too. We would love to return in the future.
We thought that the cottage was in a perfect location to visit the coastal areas of Northumberland and the borders. The property had a lovely south facing garden which you could relax in after your days out. It was also excellent for the dog.
Lovely cottage. We had a great holiday and after a hard day sightseeing it was great to relax at the cottage, all felt very homely.
The cottage was just what we were looking for. Comfortable, spacious and generously fitted out. We cannot compliment the owners enough. A marvellous home to come back to after a day's walking or sight seeing. Excellently situated. We would love to come back and will certainly recommend it to friends and family. We enjoyed the variety of things to do for which the cottage was excellently positioned.
This is the best way to get away from it all, lovely quiet village and starry Northumbrian night skies. The cottage is comfortable and cosy but still plenty of space for a group or family. The dining room catches the morning sun and it seems a shame to rush breakfast. It is a property obviously cared for with attention to detail and well equipped for a holiday home.
The ground floor of the Cottage was very spacious. It was very well located to visit the attractions in Northumberland. The kitchen was really well equipped.
We loved the dog friendly secure garden and the area is a beautiful one to explore from this very comfortable base.
We found the cottage cozy, warm & clean. In no way luxurious, but lived in, loved and 'comfy', just right for that part of the world. A quriky set up roomwise which added character to the place. The only possible down side would be the one and only tiny toilet which could cause a big problem if someone where rather plump. I am not obese, but about 3 stone overwieght, but if I had been much bigger it would have been impossible to go to the loo! That aside ,we had a lovely time.
Layout of the cottage is not ideal but did not spoil the holiday in a part of the country that we love. Only 1 problem arose on the last day due to very heavy rain, coupled with a north wind, leaking through the poorly fitting front door. An air vent in the front door (required by the gas board) let in a significant amount of water and both resulted in the small hallway becoming flooded. I presume this will have been rectified by the owners who seemed to really care about the property.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Lowick cottage, the cottage itself felt more like a home and was furnished well so we felt comforatble from day one would certantly visit Northunbria again. Plenty of interesting places to visit would recommend Holy Island, Alnwick Casle and as avid walkers the Cheviots close by. Only one downside to our stay the local pub in Lowick has been closed for some tiome so you need to amend your information regarding local amenities but apart from that do plan to return in the future.
The layout of the cottage was quite quirky! (characterful) but gave a lovely sense of being able to feel comfortable and being relaxed. It is ideally situated for providing so many places of interest and beauty to visit.
Altogether a very nice base for a most enjoyable holiday.
It was a warm and comfortable cottage in a convenient location.
A very nice cottage warm and cosy, a nice sunny garden with attractive views. Lovely peaceful location, making it an excellent base to travel north or south with superb beaches within a short drive. Clearly a cared for family home not just a holiday let.
We loved the area and also a visit to Edinburgh (HMY Britannia), Berwick, Promenade, Bamburgh and Seahouses were lovely.
The quiet location of the property. Particularly liked the sun room at the back of the property. The beds were comfortable and clean and kitchen well equipped.
Excellent weather, fabulous area to visit, good food outlets.
Nice outlook at beach. Horses playing in the field.
The cottage was well equipped and cosy, a good base for touring and a lovely area, particularly Holy Island.
The quiet setting and yet fairly close to the areas we wanted to visit
The cottage was very well equipped and very warm and cosy.
A perfect 'get away from it all' holiday
Well equipped cottage. Quiet location and easy access to a number of beaches and places of interest. Good dog walks in village.
Cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable, village was pleasant and well placed for visiting both Northumberland and Borders.
Clean, comfortable and welcoming cottage. Well equipped and spacious enough for 6 people, even on a rainy day.
The cottage was good and I particularly loved the private secure garden for my dog and for sitting out in the evenings. The cottage was situated in a really nice village and not far from the wonderful coast. The neighbours were very friendly.
Village nice and quiet.
Apart from one day the weather was brilliant. Our best day out was the boat trip to the Farne Islands. It was a wonderful experience seeing all the Puffins.

Good position for north Northumberland and border area. Heating is very good, also the enclosed garden is ideal for dogs. Local pub serves good food.
A lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful location. Ideal for both Cheviots and Northumbrian coast.
Beautiful food at the local pub within walking distance.
