Property Description

Holiday home
It is hard to describe the character, charm, and happiness that oozes from Borth Arian - you simply must visit to see how lucky we are that the family share this much loved holiday cottage with us. Set in a peaceful location near Rhoscolyn, on Holy Island, on the north west corner of Anglesey, it has fantastic views and is just yards from the coastal footpath and a five minute walk to the beach. "I absolutely love this house! It just opens its arms to welcome you all year round. Sit and on the veranda and soak up the sea views. In the winter snuggle up by the fire. This is a house that is so loved and waits to welcome you." The accommodation is all on the ground floor and with full central heating will suit every generation in every season. Borth Arian was designed and built by Sir Leslie Patrick Abercrombie, best known for the re-planning of London after it was devastated by enemy bombardment in World War II. You can read about Sir Abercrombie and this history of the house on our blog here. This is the perfect house for making special holiday memories that will never fade away.

Area
Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

Absolutely what we needed, stayed Sunday to Fri late October 2023. Just got back and we feel really sad about leaving. Superb views across to Snowdonia from the back of the bungalow cottage. Lots of family history to read about the property, giving it a warm family feeling and a proper home, that doesn't feel like a rental. Down a track away from it all, giving it a lovely secluded feel. On the downside the track leading to the house is not the best and is possible to scratch your car and also floods a little at the bottom needing wellies to walk back from the pub White Eagle. Lovely pub btw. The rest is just a wonderful homely stay with well equipped kitchen and the best we have stayed in. Large character period rooms that are so comfy. Location to all of the Holy island is perfect. By far the prettiest part of Anglessy. A stroll down the fields from the house and 5 mins your on the beach, which is brilliant for dogs. Reasonably priced for a spacious well kept lovely cottage. Information from Sykes and the owners is very accurate including directions.

Rural retreat! Stunning views. Clean modern interior in a classic country home. Wildlife and nature lovers will love the position! Deserted beach across from garden. Perfect.

Had the misfortune of staying here, a musty smell in the rooms, cobwebs in the corners. Mentioned it to the owners was told this is the country they have spiders. No excuse for cleanliness. Would not recommend.

We had a wonderful weekend at Borth Arian.. The view is just extraordinary on all sides, the house is comfortable and quirky and feels loved. The outside space is great for kids to explore. There is a wonderful beaches within a ten minute walk from the beach and further walks from the door that lead to spectacular views and hidden coves. We couldn't have loved this part of Wales more.
