Mrs Maple
August 2020
Very cosy and warm, just what was needed on a very chilly bank holiday weekend! The owners were lovely people to deal with. The only slight downer was the mattress on the bed - we could feel the springs through it. (But my husband says I am just like the princess and the pea!!) All in all a lovely experience and we would stay there again.

Lovely little cottage and perfect for two people.. Dogs are welcome and there are dogs that sometimes roam around the grounds. There are also horse stables next to the barn. It is stated that there is no wifi but also there is no system network reception so we were not able to use personal hotspots which did cause us some issues with no communication network. Lovely little place though and lovely owners. Really enjoyed the stay

Bolton Barn was beautiful had everything that was needed for a truly relaxing week.. The only thing I would suggest is that a foot stall or poufee to put your legs up of an evening would be nice but other than that I would highly recommend to friends and family and if the need arises would definitely book again.

Cottage was excellent, warm, cosy, relaxing.. Everything we needed was there, great welcome pack even included our dog. Sounds petty but having things like coffee, washing up stuff, hand wash, milk, salt & pepper provided a bonus how often you forget them or have to go & buy. Good selection of books dvds etc. Owners very friendly & helpful wish we could have seem them more (perhaps if had stayed longer). Polly loved Jake & Loki fellow Jack Russels. Having no WIFI made it more relaxing still had phones for emergencies. Really did not want to leave & wished we could have stayed longer. Well definitely come back. Would love to stay in the summer so could access the walks (obviously everywhere still waterlogged due to all the excessive rain recently)

Bolton Barn was excellent.. However, I booked through Booking.com and communication was not as good as it should have been. In response to an email from Booking.com, I advised my arrival time. This was acknowledged by an email. When I arrived at the specified time, no one was available to let me in. I went off to buy some provisions and when I returned an hour later, the owner was home. She told me that I should have been given the code to a key safe. I was not given this code by Booking.com or Sykes Cottages. It all worked out but it was an avoidable problem.

The peace and tranquillity.. It was lovely to find tea, coffee and a wonderful fruit cake waiting our arrival. Must not forget the milk a the very fresh eggs. We used the barn as a base for visiting family and friends. Most welcomed and relaxed.

The hospitality from Craig and Sally was excellent as was the "goodies" left for us and appreciated by our furry friend.. We found the entire Barn experience was home from home, we were permitted to share Craig's Station Master's role as well as Sally's love of her equine friend. All of our needs were catered for in a warm and friendly environment. An ideal location for exploring the Kent countryside or sit on the patio and chill with a glass - or two. The supply of up to date information leaflets enabled us to visit off beat locations and events A fantastic 5 day break. Thank you

A lovely holiday let.. Everything one could wish for on arrival. Milk, eggs, and tea bags supplied also a nice cake. Very nice extras. The Barn is spotlessly clean. So dog friendly too. Dog bowl , throw, and doggie biscuits along with a throw for the furniture all supplied The owners Sally and. Craig were very friendly and helpful Certainly worth a visit
Mrs Wackett, September 2019
September 2019
Bolton Barn is lovely home from home.. All those little extras i.e. cake, egg, milk and even snacks for your pet if you happen to take one. For the railway enthusiasts there is a railway line at the bottom of the paddock. You will be very close to Lenham which has a Co-Op and several pubs and Ashford is not too far away either. The owners Sally and Craig are always on hand if you have any questions and if you are lucky and interested I am sure Craig will give you a tour of his railway.

This lovely cottage was well located within the farm.. In fact next to a stable block which was wonderful. The owners were welcoming to both us and our dog. The property is a very carefully refurbished barn conversion spotless and with all amenities. Far reaching views to the North Downs/ Pilgrims Way were glorious. The surrounding countryside was Kent at its best full of exquisite villages, historic churches, magnificent buildings and estates and really good pubs. Canterbury and the North Kent coast (Whitstable) were easily accessible. Located in prime walking country, most notably the North Downs Way, there are an abundance of interesting, well signed rights of way at every turn. All in all a very enjoyable break in an underated and beautiful part of England.
Mr Carey, April 2019

March 2019
The barn and the surroundings were exceptional, we wanted somewhere to escape the busy life we lead and Bolton Barn gave us the break we needed to recharge our batteries.. We were welcomed with a homemade ginger cake, fresh eggs and a lovely jar of homemade lemon marmalade, which was all lovely and shows that the owners care and want you to enjoy your stay. We will definitely be going back and will be recommending Bolton Barn to friends and family.
Mrs Brookes, March 2019

We felt very much at home as soon as we arrived at Bolton Barn: Storm Erik had accompanied us on our journey and the barn was warm and comfortable and the home-made fruit cake, tea, coffee, milk etc.. very welcome. We were within easy reach of Rochester, Canterbury and Faversham and enjoyed visiting them all with our husky dog. A lovely holiday setting which we would definitely recommend!

I have to say this is the best we have stayed in.. Beautiful accommodation no expense spared in the facilities with little added touches, such as fresh eggs, milk, tea, coffee, home made cake even a little fan to decorate the toilet roll. An ideal location for anyone who wants to explore what Kent has to offer. Highly recommended.
Mrs Kelly, November 2018

September 2018
Bolton Barn very comfortable and equipped with everything possible.. It was "homely", which is very important. Mr and Mrs King were around; going about their normal lives and tremendously helpful. There was milk, eggs and homemade cake when we arrived - which was lovely. There was a fenced-in paddock for the dog (who has returned home shattered). Well-stocked shops in Lenham, plus fish and chip shop and several pubs. Picturesque villages, towns and castles. Especially if you have a dog and are interested in industrial archeology, go see the gunpowder mills at Oare (I am soooo sad I've now been twice). Natural scenery is lovely too - we had the benefit of beautiful weather at the end of September and the trees beginning to turn.
Mrs Emmott, September 2018
August 2018
Craig and Sally are such wonderful people and have done a great job on converting this Barn.. From the moment we entered the barn and was welcomed with Fresh farm eggs, milk and marmalade to sadly coming home, everything about this holiday was a real gem. The barn is extremely comfortable, very inviting and is our new bolt hole in the country and a great place for the dogs. We liked this place so much that we have already booked our return trip this November and hope to go back many more times after that. Thanks, Craig and Sally for a superb week

Bertie my 13year old Basset Hound and I arrived to find Eggs, Marmalade, Cake & Milk, - Plus Treats for Bertie waiting for us.. The Barn was immaculately clean and well equipped. There were two horses and two well behaved dogs on site. The owners were very friendly and helpful. All in all we had a very relaxing holiday and would without dought visit again. June 2018
The cottage is clean and comfortable and the owners are very nice.. It is so refreshing to find people who understand the concept of going on holiday with digs. Nothing was too much trouble and the field which the dogs loved was large and secure. We got on well with their own dogs which are both characters. The cottage is at the end of a lane but very accessible to all the major towns and cities
Mr Neale, June 2018
June 2018
We were so pleased to have found this cottage on your website when we were searching for a dog-friendly place to stay.. The cottage was very well equiped, very clean and comfortable, in fact, we could quite happily live there! It's set in a beautiful, peaceful part of Kent and even though the railway line goes past the bottom of the paddock you soon don't notice it. It's also very easy to get to any of the well known beauty spots. We will certainly book it again for our next holiday in Kent.
Mrs Quinnell, June 2018

Great location, quiet country spot but handy to all that Kent and most of Surrey have to offer.. Lenham township had all the services a traveler would need. The cottage is spacious and well appointed. The only downside was the lack of wifi which makes it difficult for people from overseas.

Bolton Barn is everything a holiday cottage should be. It was cosy and welcoming and had everything you would need to make your stay stress free. Nothing had been forgotten, it was a proper home from home. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. Over the years I have stayed in many self catering cottages and this was by far the best. I will be spending more time at Bolton Barn in the future and can't wait for my next visit.

The location is very central to reaching all parts of the area - Canterbury, Ashford, Deal, Sandwich and Camber Sands. The welcome items such as milk, cake, coffee, tea and sugar was a really nice touch as it is difficult to find outlets open especially if you arrive late in the evening. The cottage was very dog friendly and our Greyhound enjoyed the treats and settled in really well.
