Just returned from a four day break at Bluebell cottage in Cark. Wonderful cottage with everything you could ask for provided. We had a warm welcome from the host Neil, who gave us ideas for places to visit in the local area and also recommended "the engine" for food which we found to be excellent. Cark is a great location from which to explore the southern lakes as well as being close to the coast. Well recommended.

We had a lovely weekend at Bluebell Cottage.. Situated in a quiet courtyard in a small village. Two pubs within walking distance. Unfortunately the Rose & Crown was shut the weekend we visited, but we went to the Engine Inn which was dog friendly and served some nice home cooked food and a friendly welcome. There is also a small Londis store nearby which sells all the basics. We had a huge bed which was very comfortable so ensured a good nights sleep. Some nice walks nearby.

Good position with 2 good pubs within walking distance that allow dogs.. Both also do good food. Ideal location for driving to the south Lake District or to the coast. Nice to have allocated parking for 1 car outside the property.

Lovely comfortable cottage.. Cark is a pretty village with a shop and 2 pubs. It is well situated for exploring the Lake District. We enjoyed walking via footpaths to quaint Cartmel. It was great to have an allocated parking space. Best thing about the cottage was being able to sit in the sunny backgarden and watch the lambs playing over the fence. We appreciated that the garden was well enclosed and the cottage was dog friendly

This cottage is perfect for a relaxing holiday. It is well equiped with everything you need to cook if you wish. The beds are comfortable and the outside area is great we visited February so not able to take advantage of this but if visiting in the summer would be a nice spot to sit and take the sun. The village of Cark is nice and friendly. The local pub the Engine especially so, the locals all willing to chat and the staff so helpful too. It is also pet friendly which is great. We will definately visit again and would thoroughly recomend this accomodation.

The cottage is so comfortable and cosy.. Beautifully furnished and decorated festively for our Christmas break. The beds and pillows were so comfy, the lounge was really welcoming with the Christmas tree and decorations around the fireplace, lovely touches also with the cava in the fridge and celebrations chocolates in the side table, the cul de sac where the cottage is situated is quiet and the small village homely and the two pubs nearby are welcoming and had a great atmosphere. A wonderful accommodation in a beautiful setting.

We decided to take a few days in the Lakes to celebrate my retirement We’ve stayed in the Lakes many times and I would say we are regulars there as we all love it so much, wow what a lovely cottage, you can see that the owners have set out to really make this a home from home, great quality in everything they have done in the cottage We absolutely loved the cottage as it isn’t what you’d expect for a rented cottage, it’s more like we’ve taken over someone’s beautiful home, it’s a credit to Neil and Alison.. We really managed to properly relax for the first time for many months There was also a lovely surprise of a bottle of Prosecco left in the fridge for us, a lovely gesture by the owners Neil and Alison, We will be definitely be going back to Bluebell Cottage in the future and won’t be trying any other cottages in the Lakes for the foreseeable future Absolutely, I would highly recommend this cottage, Thank you both so much Neil and Alison

Bluebell Cottage was a real home away from home.. Everything needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in the Lakes was provided for. We have made many visits to the Lakes over the years and this is the best accommodation we’ve stayed in. Location, quality of furnishings were excellent. An easily accessible parking spot right outside the cottage was also a bonus. The owners Neil and Alison have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The cottages location in Cark is perfect. What a lovely base. Will definitely be looking to stay here again.

Beautiful property in a lovely location. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and more. We took our little dog and the garden was perfectly safe for him. There are some nice walks nearby and other attractions in the Lake District 30 minutes plus away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to other couples or small families.

The cottage is set in a very peaceful cul-de-sac.. It is very modern and clean, with everything you need. They even supply a dog blanket and dog towels. The neighbours were very friendly. I would highly recommend the cottage.

Whilst Sykes cottages met expectations, it has to be said that the personal contact made by the owners far exceeded my expectations of s rented cottage.. They were particularly helpful with helping us navigate a couple of issues which were not related to the rental itself. We had a fantastic week using the cottage as a base to explore and undertake activities, but with the firm knowledge that of an evening we could return to a place of comfort and relaxation. A true home from home - where we could also bring our four-legged member of the family. Perfect.

Well equipped very clean cottage to a very high standard.. The owners had made it into a real home from home. We have found other holiday lets that allow pets very standard with little no no finishing touches. We would recommend this cottage to anyone requiring a base to tour the Lake District.

A good based for exploring the Lake District or indeed the South Lakes area, but if you don't want to do that then simply staying at the cottage and appreciating the facilities and chilling is also well worth it..

Having booked Sykes was extremely efficient and helpful on all aspects The cottage was excellent in every respect

The quiet location, beautifully appointed and looked after, with a private sun trap patio, has made Bluebell cottage the best we have stayed in. The peace and quiet, comfy bed, together with the sea air, have given us some of the best nights sleep for a long while. The car has felt a bit neglected. We have sat on the patio with a glass of wine, watching that many goldfinches that sit on the fence. We have enjoyed watching the parachutes from the local airfield (no it is not noisy). It is an ideal base for walks around the Leven estuary and the Cartel Peninsula but also within easy reach of the more popular areas of the lakes by car,and nearby train and boat. The property is in the most dog friendly area, (shops /Pubs/ local residents), we have been to.

Bluebell cottage exceeded "All our expectations".. The bottle of Cava was so thoughtful and went down a storm after a 7 hour journey. The cottage was ever so clean and had everything that we could possibly need . We felt at home right away. Neil and Alison were ever so helpful .The scenery was absolutely beautiful, we managed a few walks as well two days at the races. We were lucky with the weather and the back garden was a little Sun trap. All in all we had a brilliant stay and can't wait for our next booking Thank you ever so much Rory,Sarah and Sandra

Mr & Mrs Tucker - Exeter.. Our week 13th April 2018. Bluebell Cottage is very well equipped, the location is ideal if you are looking for peace and quiet, but with local amenities on the doorstep. The owners could not have been more helpful in ensuring that our stay was comfortable and provided some nice touches. We would thoroughly recommend Bluebell as it is ideally located for travelling around the lakes allowing us easy access to visit all the places we wanted to see. Many thanks to Neil and Alison.

Very welcoming and comfortable and well equipped.. Very pleasant stay.
February 2018
Had a lovely three days visiting family and friends, using Bluebell as our base. Owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make it comfortable and homely. Lots of local information provided for those new to the area. Lovely quiet village location with lots of walking options straight from the cottage. Would highly recommend.
February 2018
We have used Sykes Cottages for some years now and this cottage is one of the nicest we have stayed at.. We picked one of the coldest weeks of the year to be up in Cark and the cottage was warm and comfortable throughout. Excellent standards and comfort and thoughtful owners helped to make our stay very memorable. The owner messaged during the cold snap to ensure that we were warm enough. We highly recommend Bluebell Cottage. We will return;it's a lovely part of the world!

We've just returned home after a wk in Bluebell Cottage and what a lovely cottage it is! It was just the right size for a family of 4 & was well furnished including a fully stocked kitchen which meant we had the option to eat in as well as out during the wk. Even the dog was well catered for with a dogs bed and even a dog towel! The local area was also lovely. Within walking distance there are a couple of pubs that serve good food and a local artisan bakery which we visited practically every morning. There's also lots of good dog walks within walking distance (such as the grounds of Holker Hall). We also visted some of the local villages such as Cartmel and Ulverstone. The kids also loved exploring the nearby beaches and woodlands but especially enjoyed Southlakes zoo (which is surprisingly cheap & not too busy this time of year). Overall its been such a relaxing and refreshing break that we're already looking at when we can next book again!
