Wonderful cottage every thing you needed home from home beautiful location great pubs food would highly recommend it..

The only issue staying at Grassington is the lack of parking, which we were unaware of until we arrived.. The accommodation was very good, clean and comfortable.

Firstly the description of this property as a cottage, when it is plainly no more than a bed sit, was blatantly misleading.. Oven was so in need of a good clean, it set off the fire alarm every time we used it and there was a shortage of oven ware. Shared access to the garden does not work when both sets of occupants have dogs, so great care was needed when letting dogs out. First few days went ok, till the bedsit above was let, and due to the presumably wooden floors, it sounded like a herd of wildebeest had moved in. We could hear every time the occupants moved, and that included night time toilet visits. This was the final straw, and we left two days early. To be fair, despite the property being tiny, it was warm and reasonably comfortable, but severely let down by the above points. Second cottage in in less than six months booked with Sykes, in my opinion lacking in several aspects, will make me thing long and hard before any repeat booking.

The cottage was beautiful.. Cosy on a evening. Everything you needed at hand. Cleanliness was of high standard too. Tv could of done to be up graded poor reception on all channels. And one side of the enormous bed had seen better days husband was sliding out at one side. Would recommend to friends. Thank you for a enjoyable stay. Village was wonderfull too.

It is called a cottage but it's a studio, and the photos were really deceptive and made the place look much bigger than it was.. As is actually a cottage split into 2 it was very noisy when there was people up stairs.

The cottage was just perfect, it was cosy, very clean, very close to the square, but best of all it was dog friendly..

The accommodation is a perfectly comfortable, well appointed ground floor bedsit.. We stayed 3 nights at the opening weekend of the Grassington festival and this place is slap bang in the middle of the town. Uphill on one side of you is the old enigmatic graveyard, and going downhill next door but one you have an excellent chippy (didn't smell and is only open a couple of hours a day) and best of all next to this is the Blackhorse. You may think, like me, that's perfectly located, but then there are 3 more pubs within a couple of minutes of this, all the fine arts and crafts shops, and also tearooms aplenty if you like that type of thing. If you like to sit in or drink tea in the garden then this is not really the place for you to stay. However this is Grassington, it's in the Yorkshire Dales, so who in their right mind is going to stay in. We like to walk too and there are numerous great walks from Grassington. We hiked to Kettlewell and back via Conistone Dib and the following day we did a walking tour of the local villages - Linton, Thorpe, Burnsall, Hebden - and then a gentle stroll down the Wharf back to Grassington. We have stayed all over the dales in many types of cottages and this is probably the smallest but we would stay here again. Oh and the locals will make you feel so welcome.

The location of the cottage was a bit restrictive for parking but the Town Square was ideal to park only a small away.. The village was lovely and located in a nice part of North Yorkshire. We will be back sometime soon.

Blacksmith Cottage was nicely furnished and the bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival was a friendly touch. Its location next to the fish and chip shop and a few yards from the centre of the village was ideal. The bed was comfortable and the accommodation was very quiet - the chip shop is only open 4 or 5 days a week and closes by 7 at the latest. There was no-one in the upstairs rental so I don't know whether you might be disturbed by people walking around overhead. The owners had left basic essentials, e.g. washing powder, kitchen roll, toilet roll, plasters (v. useful one evening). The only downside was that it was a bit cramped. The bed took up a lot of the living/bedroom and if one partner gets up a lot earlier than the other, there isn't anywhere very comfortable to sit and read the paper etc.

I didn't realise the whole property was one big room until opening the front door.. Parking a bit of a nightmare and there were no rubbish bins

The town and surrounding area well exceeded our expectations and was an area we will reconsider visiting on our next trip to England..

Very cosy cottage.. Owner very helpful and solved broadband issue. Quite noisy due to occupants above but owner is already looking in to further soundproofing. Not much parking very near cottage but excellent solution was weekly parking permit in Dales National Car Park about 5 mins away - but well worth it as gave free parking in all other Dales car parks. Excellent food in village. Would highly recommend.

Had a really wonderful week in this quaint cottage. I was very impressed by the quality of the interior, it was tastefully decorated with nice period furnishings. I felt completely at home as soon as I arrived. The whole place was clean and fresh. The owner has paid great attention to detail and it pays off marvelously. The bottle of wine is a lovely touch and reinforces the owners' desire to ensure you have a good time. The cottage is well placed for the town's amenities as it is just off the main square. There are three nice pub/restaurants within a hundred yards and a few yards further on there is a convenience store and a newsagent as well as gift shops etc. This was my first cottage holiday and it is going to be very difficult to better the experience - Thank you

In a very central position in Grassington. The studio is small and very well equipped, although may have too much furniture and unnecessary ornaments. The bathroom was a little chilly. On arrival, the remote control for TV was missing. We contacted the owner who suggested we look under the be bed! She contacted us later to say the previous tenant had taken it home with her. No replacement was offered. As we were only there for 3 nights it never appeared.

A home from home in a great location. Grassington is a lovely village with enough shops, pubs cafes, some good walks and friendly locals. Blacksmith Cottage is central and has all the facilities needed for a stay here - well equipped kitchen and huge bed with a small, enclosed patio, which is very handy if you have a hound with you.

This is an absolutely delightful studio set right in the heart of Grassington. I booked it as a Christmas present for my husband and we both had a great time. We stayed there in a week when the temperatures were below zero and snow lay on the ground. It was very comfortable and cosy. There is one room with a large bed and a couple of sofas and chairs. The kitchen and dining table are around the corner. It is extremely well stocked. All the usuals but also books, DVDs, guides as well as tea and coffee. Even a bottle of wine!! The location is ideal. At that time of year we were able to park the car in the square. Within a few yards were three pubs, a hotel with restaurant, an indian take-away and a fish and chip shop. We ate at all of them!! We also bought cakes from the cafe opposite the cottage. They were all good. We also visited the Old Hall Inn at Threshfield (perfect for fish and chips) and had the tasting menu at The Angel at Hetton. Lovely flat in a great village. Would highly recommend.

We stayed in this little cottage in Aug/Sept 2014 and found it to be very charming and well equipped. The location is fabulous for lots of walking in the Yorkshire Dales and Grassington is a lovely place to be based as it is a lovely friendly village. There are three hotels that allow dogs and the food is acceptable pub food. If there was one downside, I would struggle to find one but it would be that it is a studio and quite small. However, the layout is very well done and there is a huge bed.

We live relatively close by and as I work from home wanted to relax and be away from my working/home environment. Staying at blacksmith cottage made me think why do we need big houses and lots of clutter that we never use. It was compact, very well equipped, extremely clean and we were welcomed by a lovely bottle of wine. The weather was kind to us and we did what we planned to do...absolutely nothing. It was wonderful and I would highly recommend a stay here. Perhaps next time we will try lotties loft upstairs!

December 2013
We loved the location of Blacksmiths Cottage near the centre of Grassington, a lovely Dales Village. There were plenty of facilities, pubs, restaurants and shops to make our stay enjoyable. We are keen walkers, and despite the bad weather on most days we were able to take 3 to 4 hour walks directly from the cottage. Altogether a memorable and enjoyable stay.

May 2013
We chose this rental on the basis of the favourable reviews, and expected slightly better than we got. It was fine in terms of size, and very convenient for the village. But there were too many things not working or in need of repair - we called the owner who retuned the TV for us and replaced the five light bulbs that were not working. But the radio was hopeless, there was broken shelf in the fridge and the fitted sheets didn't fit the bed. So it would benefit from a bit of a health check and improvement before the season really gets going.
Mr Rayson

July 2012
This studio apartment is compact, very clean but with too much space taken up by furniture and knick knacks. However the kitchen was very well equipped and stocked and the bed huge and comfortable and the bathroom clean and well presented. The sitting out area was very disappointing, full of weeds and garden furniture dirty and unusable which was a shame as we were there for one of the rare warm dry spells. It is ideally situated for the village and for walking the dales. Parking to unload and load vehicle can be difficult.

February 2012
A quality studio let, with lots of little extras. A very comfortable cottage, lovely super king-size bed, tastefully furnished and decorated. A very enjoyable break in a lovely village. We parked the car and were able to leave it until the end of our break. Great walking country and good pubs in the village.

No problem to find the key. The home has been furnitured with much love for the detail. Well equipped. The backyard would probably have looked friendlier if the weather had been better. The landscape around is great, especially the Dales. Ideal start for traveling, walking, sightseeing. We enjoyed our visit to very much.

December 2009
Fantastic instructions re arrival. The cottage was a large studio with en suite, but very cosy and sweet. We used it as a base for our walking holiday, but it was lovely to come back to in the evening. The cottage is in the centre of Grassington and ideally placed to stroll home from one of the many pubs and restaurants. Grassington also has a small supermarket, bakers (great first thing in the morning to stock up with drinks and sandwiches before our walk) and numerous delightful gift shops. The only slight problem was that the cottage was on a narrow hill and it was very difficult to get the car down. As there was no parking, the car had to be parked elsewhere and you had to walk to the cottage. I could see this would be a problem to anyone who had difficulty in walking too far. Overall an excellent place to stay and very dog friendly.
