The barn has a lovely mezzanine as you go upstairs with spectacular views, as do the rest of the rooms. My husband and i and my parents had a great week despite the weather being cold and windy we were nice and warm and still went for some interesting walks.

The area, the Pennines, is not without reason an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.. In the picture you see wouden doors, but these can be opened to give way to huge windows that overlook the valley. Magnificent!

We had a lovely week at Blackburn Cottage Barn. I was expecting the property to be a bit dull and dated but it was absolutely lovely. With the large barn doors open the living room is airy and bright (although it was windy when we were there so the patio doors remained closed). The full height entrance hall with the large skylight is a particularly nice space and quite unexpected. The dogs enjoyed walks from the door (on leads due to sheep) and we found lots to do within easy reach. For us the location was perfect - very rural with stunning views but only 10 minutes from a small town with a few shops and a good Chinese takeaway. The cottage was well equipped and we had everything we needed.

The cottage was very lovely - the photos didn't do it justice and was much nicer than I had expected.. It was also well equipped. The location was perfect - very rural with fabulous views and surrounded by sheep but close enough to facilities to not feel isolated. It was great to have the garden as some private space. We enjoyed exploring the area and found lots to do to keep ourselves busy.

Lovely cottage in an ideal situation to get away from it all.. Pleasant owner and only a short drive from basic shopping. Large supermarket is 6 miles away.

I think what we enjoyed most was the atmosphere of the cottage and the stunning views.. Seated in a comfy armchair, I sometimes forgot to read on in my novel and watched the beautiful scenery instead. The cottage is very well-equipped, and the kitchen is a fantastic place to share a meal. All rooms have window seats; there was a competition about them. You can hike from the cottage through beautiful moors between sheep and cattle. But you can also reach a lot of sights within an hour or so: Hadrian's wall, Durham, the North Pennines, Weardale Railway, Beamish. The only downside is that you need a car, but this is clear from the listing.

It is located near a private grouse Moor so exercising your dog is a bit restrictive.. A really well trained dog is a must. The location is quite superb and the cottage really comfortable.

Booked up at the last minute wanted some where not to far as it was the first time for are puppy but wanted something in the middle of no where and we got what we asked for not not to far from the nearest shop what is about 2.5 miles away. The cottage it self is amazing big kitchen with everything you need. The bedrooms are quite big to the only down side is the tv is to small but other than that we could not fault it one bit and the dog loved it...

There seems to be a problem with the bathroom light as it flickers and the bulb constantly blew, although, as soon as it was mentioned any work required was completed straight away..

An extremely well presented and cosy cottage, standing in a stunning location on top of a hillside.. The décor and furnishings were of a very high standard, and the cottage was well equipped with everything necessary for a short stay. The cottage was warm and welcoming, with amazing views from every window. A very quiet location, perfect for a restful getaway. The bunk beds and toys were great for children and the proximity to local walks and attractions such as the Weardale railway, made for a very enjoyable short break.

A gorgeous converted barn, slept amazingly. The location was beautiful, very remote, the photos don't do it justice. The owner was really helpful too.

The property over all was wonderful, the pictures do not do it justice, in my opinion. My young boys enjoyed the added games and books in the cottage and my four year old told me it was his favourite place. The rooms were all lovely and big and the beds were so comfortable!
