Bilberry Nook Cottage is a stone-built, semi-detached cottage in the village of Westgate in Northumbria. The cottage sleeps four people in one king-size double room, one twin bedroom, and a family bathroom. Also in the cottage are a well-equipped kitchen and a sitting room with a dining area and a woodburning stove. Outside, you will find off road parking for two small cars, a side patio with furniture, and a front lawned garden. Bilberry Nook Cottage is situated in a lovely part of the country, perfect for a holiday at any time of the year.

Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin. Bathroom with bath, walk-in electric shower, basin and WC. Ground floor basin and WC. Kitchen. Dining area and woodburning stove.

Area
Westgate is a small village in Weardale, popular for walking and cycling. Westgate once marked the boundary of Stanhope Park, the scene of many grand, historical, hunting expeditions. Nearby is Slit Wood, a site of Special Scientific Interest, with interesting footpaths and delightful waterfalls. Westgate is set in rural countryside and is home to a pub, whilst further amenities can be found in the village of Stanhope, five miles away.

Note: Open tread stairs to first floor. Note: Access to the river is by steep stone steps, may not be suitable for the less mobile.

What an amazing property in the most beautiful location.. Other than the very shower not being very powerful the house was faultless. The pictures do not do it justice. Lovely sitting in the hot tub listening to all the widlife and the river. Owners were really nice and helpful. Thank you so much. We will be retuning.

The cottage is warm, cosy, clean and comfortable.. Is in a great location with the river running right along the back of the property and the hot tub is an added bonus. Plenty of places to visit, less than an hour from Newcastle, Durham and Darlington if you want big towns and cities. If you prefer the smaller villages with loads of character and friendly people there are loads nearby. This is also a geat place to stay if you are into walking and fishing. The cottage is so relaxing when your inside, you have the option of a proper wood burning fire for the cold evenings and should you wish to listen to the river running by open any small window you get this. The other side is that once all windows and doors are closed you cant hear a thing from outside its blissfully quiet. The owners are really friendly and although the cottage is directly behind the owners they do not intrude on your privacy in any way.

Super friendly owners, although they were nearby, were not intrusive.. Hot tub was the cleanest I have used yet. Accommodation well presented, extremely comfortable and immaculate. Great walks on the door step for our 2 labs who had a great holiday. Had squirrels, peahens, and field mice on the patio area as well as birds. Was so relaxing and I’d love to return right now!

We had a brilliant weekend weather was terrible but it didn't stop us enjoying the hot tub and lovely walks with the dog and children.. The cottage was beautiful and clean and had everything you need. The only downfall we wish we would have stayed longer

Absolutely fabulous time at Billberry cottage, spotlessly clean, home away from home with stunning relaxing views.. Friendly and helpful owners who obviously take great pride in their cottage and surroundings. Spent three fabulous nights with my family and two dogs. If any negative no secure area for children and dogs as garden leads straight onto river but won’t stop us returning, just something to be aware of if children and dogs visiting. Thanks for a great relaxing weekend.

The hot tub is a welcome addition and in an excellent location away from the house and next to the brook. The bathroom is ok however would benefit from a new shower ( i think this is already in their plans for the future). Parkimg is not straightforward but I was able to negotiate with my wife guiding me in without much issue (I have a nissan qashqai) Overall very impressed with the cottage and would recommend!

Lovely location.. Gorgeous comfy cottage with all amenities you need. Hot tub bonus would recommend a canapy building above it. Parking very difficult due to small area hardly any manoeuvre space to get in due to property on either side. Would definitely return. Owners very friendly & helpful.

Such a lovely quiet cottage with the river running behind which you can fish from and the lovely hot tub was amazing.. You can see so much wildlife from the property. We had a lovely relaxing time away. We will be back.

We stayed at end of August with our 2 teenagers and 2 dogs.. Fabulous remote cottage in a stunning location. The owners were very friendly, the milk, chocolate cake and dog treats were greatly appreciated. It was a really relaxing stay. Loved watching the birds in the garden and on the river. Some really beautiful walks from the village, including the waterfall walk up to the old lead mines. The nearby High and Low Force are also worth a visit. Corbrigde and Hadrians Wall are only a lovely drive over the moors. All at the local pub were very friendly. Will be returning and have recommended to friends.

Cottage looked good in picture.. But when we got their we found a lot of faults. Left our own nice home to go to a house in need of a lot of tlc. House had cobwebs all round windows and doors. Parking for two very small cars was right need to take it slow when driving car in. Very last picture on your site for cottage does not relate to the property.

we stayed here in august 4 adults with two dogs. This is the nicest place that we have stayed with the dogs for quite some time. The cottage is lovely and clean with everything that we would have expected. The pub down the road is also exceptional. All in all a fantastic week, we will be returning, thank you.

The cottage overall is a lovely quaint house very spacious very clean .. With excellent facilities and very comfortable. The pub at the end of the road is very welcoming and serves lovely food but you do need a car as there is very little to do but we had a great time and WOOD RECOMMEND to anyone wanting a nice quiet and relaxing holiday. thanks to Joanne and Stephen.

Bilberry Nook Cottage is a beautifully decorated and spacious cottage, with a lovely big patio door overlooking the garden and river at bottom of the garden. Bilberry Nook Cottage gives easy walking access to the Weardale way, miles of signposted walking beside the river Wear. The owner, Joanne, runs a beauty therapy business offering 10% discount to cottage guests. I had a wonderful massage from her. Having a pub nearby with their own microbrewery and delicious food was very handy!

This cottage is set in a remote but beautiful location and has plenty of space. It is dog friendly and is adjacent to the Wear. So you can sit outside and listen to the gurgling of the water. The cottage is well maintained and has everything you might need. Westgate is well situated for Teesdale, the Lakes and North Yorkshire. The owners were were very supportive at all stages of the rental process. We will be back!!

The cottage owners were extremely welcoming and helpful, giving us local walks to do and places to go. The property was very tastefully done which was especially nice to find when you take dogs, you often get shabby not chic! The location was stunning; fabulous scenery, great garden backing on to the river with lovely patio and seating areas, even lit by fairy lights when it got dark! Just everything a cottage should be; clean, well equipped, nicely decorated furnished and in a great location.

We stayed here as a base whilst my son went on the Tyne Tour, we took our Beagles who like us loved the local walks on your door step.WIthin 10 minutes you are walking along side a loverly river and then into the open moors. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Couldn't believe the wonderful wheather we had.House was well equipped and we even had Halloween biscuits waiting for us.
