The historic towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow, the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Much Wenlock and Bishops Castle are only a short journey away.

Fantastic cottage, lovely setting.. Although the several cockerels crow rather early every morning so there’s not much chance for a lie in.

The welcome from the family not only on the first day, but throughout the week you felt part of the whole family.. Excellent information of walks in the surrounding area. Could not have asked for anything better. Would recommend to family and friends.

We’ve stayed in quite a lot of self catering flats and cottages over the years, but Betty’s Barn is by far the best we’ve experienced.. The cottage was clean, comfortable and extremely roomy. Mrs Kite had put a Christmas tree up for the previous occupants and left it there for us to enjoy! On the table were 4 boxes with lots of chocolate treats and 3 small bottles of wine. What a lovely surprise! We certainly enjoyed bringing in the New year! On New Year’s Day, Mrs Kite came over to wish us a happy New Year and invited us to come and meet the horses etc. We were feeding the peacocks peanuts, which is something I have never done before! My daughter and I walked round their private gardens, absolutely beautiful! The peace and quiet certainly was most welcoming. Will definitely recommend.

Betty's Barn at New Hall Farm in Eaton-under-Heywood is one of our favourite holiday cottages.. Spacious, well equipped. Lovely garden walk on the property and very entertaining birds and animals are some of the special features. And we don't even ride horses or own dogs! This was our 2nd stay and we still have many more places to explore in the Shropshire Hills and East Wales.
Mrs Coverdale
August 2018
A very comfortable and clean cottage, larger than expected, for a family with a 3 year old and 9 month old, plus grandparents.. Central to visit the beautiful countryside and National Trust Properties.
3 year loved the animals especially when the dogs and peacocks came to visit.
Lovely garden to visit behind the house.
One negative it could do with another set of mugs and large plates so that two meals times could be washed at same time in dishwasher. Otherwise one of the best properties we have stayed in over the last 20 years.

Fantastic cottage but a nightmare to get to
.... Fantastic cottage but a nightmare to get to
It was in the middle of nowhere and for about 5 miles it was a single track road with very bad pot holes which we couldn’t see
It caused damage to our car as the puddle was a very deep pot hole which we hit

Betty's barn provided a home from home experience with everything you need for a perfect trip away. The accommodation was spacious and clean and just right for our family(2 adults, toddler, newborn & dog!) in a great location to explore the area and lots of things to do. Access to property is down narrow country lanes from nearest main road. Would recommend to all wanting to stay in the area.

Betty's Barn is warm, cosy, comfortable and clean. We travelled as an extended family with our little dog. The layout meant that everyone had their own privacy upstairs with two bathrooms and two very spacious bedrooms. The beds were comfortable too. The heavy beams give the barn extra character. Set in the countryside you are surrounded by widelife, many birds live in the hedge rows just outside the living room window. The stables are opposite and it was a pleasure watching the horses being tended to and ridden. There is parking right next to the building and there is a little garden to the front which will be lovely in the summertime. The kitchen is beautifully appointed and has everything you need including a big dining table in the middle on which to enjoy meals as a family.
Shropshire towns are not far away, we enjoyed walking around Ludlow and Ironbridge. We also drove out to Hereford. There are also plenty of walks around Betty's itself so don't forget your wellies!
Kim and her mum are wonderful hosts. We will return!

October 2015
My wife and I stayed with 2 close friends and our 2 dogs. We were very impressed with the size and layout of Bettys Barn. It was idyllic for us. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Great walks for the dogs in the private gardens/woods ( Melusine loved the ponds!!!)
Very very minor matters prevent this from being a straight 5 star for me. No shower in 2nd en-suite meant going into friends bedroom to shower. Could one be put over the bath?? Could the cooker hob knobs be re labelled as worn off so no idea which is which and how high they are set (could be dangerous).
No Wifi available which would have been useful researching days out. Although I understand this can be available in an emergency.
Other than that really brilliant stay in this comfy and cosy excellently converted barn.
Thank you

As soon as we entered Betty's Barn, we thought Wow this is fantastic. The barn is clean, comfortable and spacious and had everything we could possibly need. The owners are very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. If you want a relaxing holiday, this is the place to come. This is the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in and would certainly love to come back again.

May 2015
Betty's Barn was so tucked away, it was lovely to feel so 'in the country' but without being totally isolated. The owner was just over the road and was extremely friendly and helpful. We loved the large rooms and feeling of space. The cottage was really well equipped and was lovely and clean. We particularly appreciated a decent sized freezer as we didn't want to have to keep running out to the shops to stock up!

Superb property in a wonderful location with really nice owners. Very quiet and relaxing. The brochure does not do it justice really, especially in relation to the grounds and freedom to wonder, explore and become involved with the animals etc.

On Friday 9th January 2015 my wife and I arrived at Betty's Barn for a long weekend. Outside it was cold, dimpsy and blowing a gale, but inside the cottage it was spacious, clean, warm, cosy and very relaxing with not the hint of a draught.
We were greeted by Elizabeth and her granddaughter and made to feel welcome and very much at home - nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Lovely location with views over open farmland and the activities of a working farm, stables and equestrian centre where you are free to access the animals and assist.
The house and grounds have many hidden secrets and there is total freedom to roam the woods and garden complete with stream, pool and wood carvings.
Don't forget your wellingtons and walking boots!
We intend to return for a week later in the year.

Having stayed in Vine Cottage last year we went for the larger property this time.Once again we had a really lovely time. Betty's Barn is a lovely cottage , very spacious ,and well equipped. The owner and her family were very friendly ,that being one of the reasons we returned again this year. I have only one fault with the holiday we should have booked for two weeks instead of one.

May 2014
The locality and accommodation were very good and gave us an excellent 'away from it all' holiday. The owners' extensive grounds were a real bonus for us and our dog. Lovely walks close by with the added attraction of close encounters with wildlife and domesticated animals. A real tonic for townies!
Mr Smith
April 2014
The property is situated in a working farm, the layout of the place is such that it isn't affected adversely. It is, if you have kids who love animals, a very large positive because the domestic animals roam free and will often pay a small visit if you're outside. We were lucky enough to be staying during lambing season and our children were invited to see the new lambs. The farm aside the area is stunning and very peaceful.
Mrs Mulville
January 2014
The warmth and cosines of the cottage, the lovely welcome pack that we all enjoyed including the children. The owner and staff who worked on the farm were lovely and friendly. The children loved the animals on the farm and had great fun mimicking all the sounds they made.

Betty's Barn is a lovely cottage, comfortable, spacious and very well equiped. This alone would be enough to recommend it but what makes Betty's Barn really special and unique is the location. Betty's Barn is on a working farm and guests are able to roam freely amongst the animals. Our daughter loved being able to stroke the horses and feed the ducks and chickens. Additionally, there is a many arce tranquil garden for walks and picnics as well as several public footpaths nearby. The owners are the most welcome hosts. We were lucky enough to see a hunt starting from the farm. A really unique holiday.

My friend & I decided to have a few days away from husbands, children & grandchildren! We chose Betty's Barn for its location and the fact we would each have our own bathroom. The Barn is lovely, a very good conversion, well thought out and beautifully maintained. The owner was very friendly and it was lovely to be in close contact with the horses and livestock. The weather was pretty dire but it was lovely just to relax in a clean & warm house. Thank You

The owners were super friendly and helpful. It was a real home from home - cosy, clean and comfortable with all mod cons. Loved being able to sit out in the sun at the end of the day with a glass of wine. The family passport at nearby Ironbridge was great value and gave us several days out.

The location of the barn was very tranquil and beautiful, in the depths of the countryside, and we enjoyed evening walks along the roads. The barn was extremely spacious, a real bonus when you have two young children. The fixtures and finishes were of a high standard. There was a warm welcome from the owner's family and they let our young son help feed some of the animals on the farm, which he really enjoyed. It was the first time he saw a peacock too!

The peaceful location, the owners, the overall home from home feel of the cottage seeing the farm animals and horses. It's the best place we have been for stargazing as there's no light pollution. We also enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. A lovely relaxing break and we will certainly recommend Betty's Barn to others.

This is a great location for a family get away. A new holiday let Betty's Barn is well equipped and very clean and the beds are very comfy. We were very lucky with the weather and on the one day it rained it was great to come back to a lovely warm cottage. We had a fab time walking round the farm- there is a large pen boasting a wide variety of birds and 2 huge pigs round the back. We can't wait to return with our little boy when he's older so he can really appreciate the animals up close. Betty's Barn is child friendly - our 6 month old and our friends 18 month old were very well catered for. The location is amazing, if you like being away from it all, which we did. Beautiful views and walks to suit all abilities, we even managed a few walks with the prams. Liz and her daughter Kim are brilliant. They made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. In fact all the people we met, whether workers on the farm or horse riders tending to their horses at the stables, were friendly and offered a cheery 'hello'. Liz even gave us a tour of the farm and told us about all the different types of birds which was much appreciated. I would really recommend this place if you want to go somewhere to chill out or even use it as a base to explore Shropshire. We have already booked to go back again.
