I don't often write reviews, but I always read them and for this reason, I want to share mine and my families week at Belgrave House. All in all it was amazing, the cottage is very clean, warm and welcoming. The downstairs areas have been well designed and finished to a very high standard. The log burner provides a homely feel with the bar area, great for entertaining and celebrating my birthday! The obvious bonus was the hot tub which was great fun,and being undercover, ensured we got the most from it, regardless of the weather. The bedrooms where spacious with comfy beds and quality bedding and enough bathrooms for everybody! I feel that everything has been well thought out to give everyone an enjoyable time. The owner Peter, made sure that everything was right and couldn't do enough for us. The village is excellent with a great pub just on your door step, loads of great walks and located to make the most of County Durham. All in all, this is a fantastic place for a holiday, long weekends catching up with friends and family. We look forward to coming back.

Had to write this review as it would be criminal not too. We came on the Friday for a long weekend break with our three daughters and their boyfriends, somewhere where we could relax and be a family unit and somewhere we could disapear to if things were getting a little raucus. What more can I really say other than all 8 of us fell in love with place straight away, Peter the owner met us on arrival and mafe us feel welcome from the start with a guided tour of the Cottage and easy to understand instructions and attractions of the area. The Cottage is like a Tardis as is much bigger on the inside than it looks, the bedrooms are a really nice size with super kingsize bed in one Bedroom with kingsizes in the others bar one which holds 2 single beds in the Dorma. There is one master bathroom and 2 more shower and toilet all which are beautifully decorated rooms. The Kitchen I would say is the focal point in the house and is stunnimg in it's design with a Downtown Abbey size Dinning table in the middle with a big spacious kitchen working area too with all mod cons. There is a Loumge area with a 55" TV on the wall and a modern L shaped sofa with an assortment of games and dvds to watch too. For me the highlight was the bar area with its chunky wooden floorboards, tap room table and chairs along with bar stools and an authentic seating area to re-created that pub feel with its fridge, optics and lighting. Ouside there was a nice size seated courtyard, perfect for those hot summer nights after you have spent your time in the relaxing hut tub which is situated in a conservatry style area. A lot of work as gone into the cottage and the effort and rewards are there to see especially with its modern ,easy on the eye decor in its stylish look. An hidden gem of and area too away from all the commercial areas this place offers stunning besuty with lovely walks and areas of natural beauty with the lovely market town of Bernard Castle on 15 mins drive away. There are 2 pubs in the area, the Blacksmiths which is your typical locals pub who are all very friendly and the more upmarket place of The Crown with a highly recomended Sundy lunch with great service too. Without doubt one of the best places that we have stayed in snd as a family a place we have already penciled in to come back to the Belgrave next year and that is something we never do when we have stayed somewhere. Highly enjoyable weekend and if I was to make one criticism of the stay and that is we had to come home. Peter also mentioned that he has another Cottage about 5 miles away with we saw the book for which looks equally stunning, so maybe we will try that next year. Oh yes there is plenty of parking too at the back of the house. 10 out 10 for the stay and worth the money, keep up the good work Peter and thank you for allowing our rabble to stay in such a beautiful place.
