Lovely Cottage but short on wardrobe space
Mr Hanson, September 2020
August 2020
My wife and 8 year old daughter enjoyed a week in Beck View at the end of August.. The cottage is light and airy and well positioned on the edge of Beeston Common only 5 minutes walk from the sea. The kitchen is nicely laid out with room for 6 around the large dning table. The kitchen units are well laid out and all appliances are there. However a couple of important points let down the overall good impression - the non-stick pots and pans were scratched and worn, the oven roasting tins had not been cleaned, and kitchen and sitting room floors were dusty andin need of brushing.

We loved how spacious the cottage was and how close it was to the sea front and the town.. The bedding smelled amazing and beds very comfortable. We had two dogs with us and we as owners loved that there was a big common land area just outside the cottage where you could take them out quickly in the morning and evening for a bathroom break and a quick run around. The cottage was lovely decorated and the garden area at front and back was good to sit in and well fenced in for privacy and great for the doggies. It was also nice to have a clothes line and a bit extra lawn to sit out on that was adjacent to the property. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking stuff and cultery, plates, and appliances to make cooking stressfree. We had a lovely and memorable time and didn't want to leave. The owner and cleaner of the property were very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the area. This is only a suggestion that it might be nice to offer guests a recyclable bin to help with keeping all waste not going into all the same bin.

The property had a great location in a quiet spot and we really liked Sheringham.. The cottage had a quaint and comfortable feel as well as being an easy walk from shops, restaurants and bars.

The positives were that the location of the property was excellent and it was warm and there was plenty of hot water.. The negatives were that it was quite grubby including the cutlery, crockery and cookware. There were three cereal bowls one of which was cracked and so couldn't be used and there were no small chopping knives. There were no spare black bags and it said to put the bin out on the right day but couldn't find anything to say when the right day was and couldn't find the green recycling bin. The settees and dining chairs were uncomfortable so no where comfortable to sit in the evening. The shower room was extremely cramped.

After a 10 hour journey,( we got lost on the motorway system! !) it was a delight to walk into the cottage! Clean, spacious and warm, we were so pleased with the initial impression. The location is superb, we walked into town and the sea side easily. Over all, the initial impressions didn't fade, we had a fabulous time....thank you!

A very pleasant house in a great location.. Somewhere to park our car was also an important aspect in our planning. There was everything we needed in Beck View cottage and are looking forward to visiting again next year

First impressions did not deceive.. This cottage is ideally placed for regular forays into Sheringham, Cromer or even further afield. Up the coast to some of the villages or inland to some of the nearby towns. It is extremely well equipped leaving nothing out. It is warm and cosy and a pleasure to return to at the end of the day. Ideally placed also for early morning walks either on the common, in the nearby woods or on the beach, the dog enjoyed his stay too. Due to other celebrations this year, already booked, we cannot return later as we would usually do, but will definitely return next year if we can find available dates when we start to look. We cannot recommend this cottage highly enough.

We arrived on the Saturday before Christmas and we walked in to find a Christmas tree and some Prosecco! What a lovely thought. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and had a good sized kitchen with table and chairs to seat 6 people (always a pre-requisite for me!). It was light and airy. The main bedroom was large, very light and had great storage. The twin room had 2 beautiful beds in it which were very comfy (or so I was reliably informed by my sons). There was no real storage in the twin room though so hanging up clothes could have been an issue (the boys seemed to live out of their suitcase which suited them on this occasion). The only downside was the utensils and crockery needed re washing. I am not sure if the previous tenants had washed up properly so we had to do that again. However that did not detract from our stay. Our little dog loved it as there was a very secure garden which he liked to potter about in. Lovely practical tiled flooring downstairs which was great. The view from both bedrooms was wonderful. The back bedroom looked out over some allotments and the main bedroom looked out over a stream and some beautiful cottages. You could have been anywhere. I would definitely recommend this cottage - but not too much as we want to go back ! Great cottage in a beautiful part of the world. Thank you.

Nice cottage.. Great location. Wood burning stove a treat on col evenings. Will almost certainly book again. As a note to owner please mention potato peeler and hair dryer would probably be appreciated by most, also we noticed tongs for fire were broken.

Lovely little cottage location was excellent as we attended the 1940's weekend in Sheringham.. The cottage is less than a 10 min walk to the town centre. Parking was nice and easy with plenty of spaces outside the cottage. It would have been nice to have a kitchen cupboard to allow us to store our groceries as we had to put everything on the kitchen table and then move it all when wanting to use the table etc. a hair dryer would have been nice but apart from that all is good. we really enjoyed our stay and have already booked to return next year.

Excellent cottage in a superb location.. Close to all the facilities in Sheringham and very close to the beach and sea! An excellent base for exploring the wider North Norfolk area. Great for Cromer and Holt. Highly recommended

The situation is wonderful for dog owners, especially if your dog likes water, need to take plenty of dog towels! There are streams on the common, right outside the front door and its not too far to the beach My dog reckons this was the perfect cottage .Beeston Common itself is a haven for nature, lots to see just walking there. Loved it. Cottage very comfortableand spacious on the ground floor but 2nd bedroom quite small without much storage space.

Beck View Cottage gave us just what we needed - a restful base for a walking and cycling holiday.. Great location. Easy, pleasant walk into Sheringham, five minute walk to access North Norfolk Coastal Path and good road access for trips further afield. Parking outside cottage no problem. No under cover access for bikes but that didn’t bother us - we parked them in the small paved terrace chained together and they were fine. It is definitely a cottage so keep expectations reasonable for outside space and storage in bedrooms. Main bedroom sizeable and would easily fit a travel cot if needed (we didn’t). Good drawer space but small wardrobe, though we managed fine for a week. Second twin bedroom no wardrobe with just hanging option on picture rail and small bedside cabinet. Third member of our party only stayed two nights so managed OK. Shower room only but that was all we needed. Lounge comfortable with TV/DVD and books and games. Kitchen/diner had all we needed (except maybe a few more tea towels). Lovely holiday.

Other feedback accurate.. Great location to walk into town or up Beeston Bump to coastal path. Although there’s a full sized dishwasher, only 4 of each crockery so ended up washing up anyway so had plates for next meal. Small sharp knife would be appreciated. Curtains in twin room no use in summer. Had to put double bed throw over rail to stop light coming in at 4am. Beds comfortable. Vacuum cleaner would be appreciated with dogs despite tiled floor. Great location for dogs onto common. Owner quick to respond to my questions by text prior to arrival. Would book again.

Owner phoned to warn of weather conditions due to snow to avoid certain routes and let us in earlier in the day too

Cottage was great especially with dog.. Ideal for 2 people but would not have wanted to be there as 4. 2nd bedroom has no storage and only one small wardrobe in first bedroom. Toilet in upstairs bathroom rocks and needs securing at base. Shower was just adequate. Larger bath sheet would have been appreciated. That said it was great value for money and we had a great week in beautiful part of the world.

The cottage had all the fail-safe facilities, like the pack of firewood provided for the wood-burner, even though there was more than adequate central heating.. Copious supples of tea, coffee, sugar, even sweeteners, present in the kitchen, along with clear instructions for the use of facilities. Also, a very wide range of television provision, with an easy to use system. Front door key very accessible in an easy-to-locate key safe. A very nice, welcoming and cosy place, which I would have no hesitation in booking again.

December 2017
We were advised not to arrive before 4pm so it was dark (in December).. The approach to the cottage was very muddy (grass) and dark. It was lucky we did not slip but we did get dirty. We then had to walk round the back via more wet muddy grass to find the key. It was pitch black. Luckily I had a torch on my phone otherwise it would have been impossible to read the keycode. Security lights or something similar are needed.

We arrived early but were welcomed by the friendly cleaners who let us use the loo before we dashed off to explore and get a great lunch at the Lobster.. Came back to a lovely warm, clean, welcoming cottage. Great stuff!

The cottage was amazing! We had a fabulous time there. What a beautiful location, nice and peaceful but only a short walk to everything in Sheringham. Can't wait to go back and stay there.

Very well appointed cottage, with excellent position adjacent to the common.. Particularly convenient for dog owners. Heating, TV and shower all worked well. Second bedroom a bit small for two adults.

This was the perfect cottage for our holiday in Norfolk.. We were very impressed with the standard of the furnishings and decoration throughout. We found everything we needed in the kitchen and the welcome package biscuits were happily seized upon by the kids after the long journey! The location is perfect too within easy walking distance of the centre of the town (full of friendly people and lovely cafes), the coastal path and the beach. We were lucky enough to have fab weather while we were there and made the most of all the dog walks from the door. We had a wonderful holiday and were very sad to leave and return to real life.

The cottage was lovely and in an ideal location, it was a lovely walk into sherringham, andCromer only a few miles away.. It was lovely looking out onto common, and we did sit on the bench outside front of cottage. neighbours were extremely friendly and made us welcome. our son came for the week-end and was so impressed he is thinking of booking himself. We shall certainly re-book

Beck View cottage was excellent.. Clean, comfortable , warm and well equipped and in a great location. 5 minutes walk down a lane from the town centre with a good range of pubs and cafes, 5 minutes walk across the common to the beach - great for dog walking. Very impressed with Sheringham where most pubs and cafes were dog friendly and welcoming. This is a good place for a short break in any season and the cottage is the perfect location.
