Fantastic cottage in a beautiful location, very well equipped with everything you need and the bed was so comfy! ! Great base for sightseeing, but the woods next door are an added bonus for lots of off lead walks for the dog!

The location of the cottage was really great as it was quiet, it was a short distance away from shops and near to the main roads for getting around.. Thereis a caravan site at the samr location but we never had any problems with this.

Our particular 'secluded' cottage was actually on a caravan Park with no privicy from the caravanners, eg.. No tree line or wall to obscure view, which wasn't made very clear at all on the advertisement

If you want a quiet country retreat this is for you.. A real haven! The adjoining caravan site is for adults only and even in August we hardly knew anyone was there. The fishing lake formed a perfect backdrop.

Owners were very friendly, lovely accommodation was private and peaceful, also dog friendly, with beautiful outlook over private fishing lodge.. A freezer would have been useful, especially so for a longer stay as would a sun umbrella for the patio, as it has full sun all day, which is wonderful if you want to sit and chill. Would definitely revisit.

Very comfortable bungalow in a lovely setting.. Many places of interest within easy reach and would definitely stay here again.

We thought the lodge was in a lovely position and enjoyed the quiet.. The drawbacks were the dog hairs upon the sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers, we had to change the bedding in the second bedroom because of this. Also the mat or cushions in the living room smelt of dog wee. We have a dog of our own but did not allow him upon the sofa or beds. Perhaps more diligence should be taken if allowing dogs in the property.

We had an absolutely fabulous holiday.. The photo did not do it justice; the lake was absolutely beautiful and right next to it. We enjoyed sitting out in these peaceful surroundings and watching the wildlife, ducks, ducklings, a heron, squirrel etc. I suffer from MS and am in a wheelchair. I knew that it would be ok for disabled, from the disabled entrance, but I was absolutely amazed by the no. Of disabled aids there were. Grab handles in shower, it was a wet room, a relaxer recliner chair in living room, which is what I have at home. The doorways were just wide enough for my wheelchair 16” seat, to get through. All it needs to be advertised as suitable for disabled people is another grabrail on the wall to the side of the toilet and lower beds. The beds were far too high for me. We were able to visit Chatsworth House which had excellent accessibility for me and lots of lovely people to help us get round. We went to Haddon Hall, which is totally inaccessible to wheelchairs, I had to wait in garden whilst my family looked around it! We loved Derbyshire and would certainly come back here again.

Location! Location! Location! It was such a pleasure to overlook the Bear Lake. Every morning we rushed to the dinning room to relish the view, it was different but equally beautiful in rain, snow or sun. For seven days it was our lake, with all trees and small islands and fishermen. The cottage is very modern, warm and cosy, equipped with all you need for comfortable holiday. If you are like us and value countryside with no crowds, this is a place for you. We recommend: shopping in Morrisons in Belper, Wednesday night steak at the Bear Pub, walks in local woods, walks along Cromford Canal, walk round Carsington Water and visit to Cromford Mills (a must!). Everything within few minutes drive.

I phoned your office before making the booking for Bear Lodge.. ...we were told that it was situated not far from Belper Station and within walking distance to the town...in fact it was about 5 miles up in the hills and we were snowed in for two days and could not meet our family for a Birthday lunch!!!!!

Beautiful location, well-equipped and cosy cottage.. We booked at short notice to avoid the fireworks and were delighted with the cottage. Would highly recommend to others - our dog loved the adjacent field to walk around and we love the view and comfort.
