Bayview tower is in the most splendid position with the most spectacular view. It is comfortably furnished with quality furniture. The two bedrooms are completely separate so it would be a wonderful place for 2 couples.
If you walk out the ‘in’ you are just a short walk from the town. Shopping is a bit limited, just a spar and a cost cutter. There is a butcher but he had no meat when we went into his shop. It was the 6th of January, but it was a bit of a surprise.
I wouldn’t recommend visiting Lynton in January: nearly everything was shut and any places to eat were not opening in the evenings. The railway to Lynmouth doesn’t start up again until February, but it isn’t far to drive. Coming back is a bit long winded as there is a road closure ( for 3 months) due to a landslide. It’s worth going though for the Rising Sun pub/hotel for their lovely food.
If you want fresh fish the nearest at that time was in Bovey Tracey! 75 miles. But, a nice chap in costcutters told us that Passmores fishmonger comes in a van every Tuesday from 10 until 11.15. We got a lovely dressed crab and a fine Brill.
All in all, if you want to have special food for your holiday it might be safer to bring it with you! Or wait until Tuesday for the fish man!
