We liked Balmoral House so much last year, we booked it again this year for the Dartmouth Music Festival.. We loved the views and the peace and wanted to stay again in Balmoral House this year. Upon arrival though, our first feeling was one of disappointment. We were not warned at time of booking, or indeed following the booking, of the adjacent building work to the side and front of the property. (The building work to the front meant that the lovely views of the River Dart were blocked from the ground floor and patio). The main issue though was with the building work to the side - a complete refurbishment of an old property. Work started every day at 07.30 and the noise of angle grinders and hammering meant that an Al Fresco breakfast on the lovely patio was not possible without being disrupted by the adjacent work going on. (We did try it a few times but did not expect to have to raise our voices when chatting to each other)!
I should stress that our disappointment is not with the property, but with C&C. We were referred to the head office, who have requested videos and pictures. We will be sending these to them in due course.
It is also worthwhile mentioning that we requested the windows to be cleaned and the patio to be weeded. (The windows were dusty from the ongoing building work to the side, while the patio needed weeded. Both requests were promptly dealt with by the local office.
In sum, a wonderful property, but let down by C&C.
