Thank you to Mark and Jo for letting us stay at The Retreat. We were first quests to use it after lockdown. Contact before arriving was excellent. The house itself is spacious and grand. Everything and more was there for your use! So many different areas to use to relax and enjoy and to get away from it all. Lots of lovely walks and villages nearby. We cannot recommend this more than words can say. we left a phone charger which was posted on to us which was a nice touch and goes a long way. We will definitely be back!

I booked the retreat for my sister Hen party weekend when the balance had been paid I had a lovely email from Mark and Jo advising me about our arrival and telling me that they would meet me to show me around the house when I arrived. Upon arrival Jo was there to greet us and showed me around a house, I can only describe the house as stunning. The attention to detail that Mark has put in to this house is unbelievable. Underfloor heating makes the house feel all cosy and welcoming, there is a fire in the main room and Jo told me they could bring me some more logs down if needed (which we didn’t need as the heating was fabulous) The house is IMMACULATE I actually went around the house trying to find dust and we turned it into a game with a prize … Nobody won as there was none. The house is stocked with EVERYTHING that you would need…. dishwasher tablets, Dishcloths, tea towels, toilet rolls, soap absolutely everything (I had actually brought all of this with me as I didn’t know it was included so took it all home) Mark and Jo had put a lovely little welcome box out for us with some lovely Yorkshire treats and homemade biscuits which were divine. The Kitchen was stocked with everything you could need accept a zester lol but I did bring my own so it was fine. When I opened a cupboard there was a number of items (spices, salt, pepper, oil) which I am assuming have been left by other people which was fabulous and we did the same leaving some things that we had just opened. The Bedrooms were warm, comfy and had plenty of storage for everybody. The bedding was spotless and very good quality, my room had this amazing grey comforter at the bottom which I would love to know where it came from. In the room every bed had 3 different size towels which were brilliant white. Outside the house ….. Well where do I begin ….. Absolutely breathe taking, you drive down the hill to see a completely unspoilt landscape with nothing around (as Mark told me the landscape has not changed since the 1800 apart from the electricity that now comes to the house). Your neighbours are Sheep so Jo told me that making noise or playing loud music was not a problem. Outside has a large enclosed wooden bar which has a wine fridge and heating in. Also robes, towels and flip flops were provided which we made use of when going in the Hot tub. Every morning Jo and Mark came to check that the hot tub was working and the chemical levels were correct so if you had any problems (which you won’t) you could see them. If I could go to THE RETREAT every weekend I would as I just felt so relaxed and comfortable there. The weather was horrendous constantly rained apart from 2 hours but is was still amazing. I cannot recommend this highly enough and I am a women who like to moan but there is absolutely nothing to moan about

We had an amazing 3 days here celebrating my 40th birthday earlier this month. Mark was always on hand to sort any queries and even drove our cars up the hill in the snow after checkout. The cottage is so well equipped there is nothing you would need whilst staying there. The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds are really comfortable. The hot tub and outside bar are amazing (perhaps a canopy over the hot tub would be good in winter?) We cannot wait to return.

This is a fantastic place to stay. It is ideal as a base to explore the area - close to Hebden Bridge, Howarth etc. but you don't need to leave the property at all as it has everything you need to have a great time. The hot-tub is amazing with a chalet close by to dry off. It also has a bar area that is fully stocked with glasses for outside use. Inside the cottage there is plenty of room for everyone with a great dining area and a very well equipped kitchen. Loads of room to relax or party and no-one nearby to disturb. We were unlucky with the weather but it didn't matter as you don't need to leave the building to have a fantastic time. I can not fault this cottage or its owners who go to great lengths to ensure you have a great stay. Highly recommended

The Cottage is set in an idyllic and peaceful location with outstanding views across the valley. Everything we could have wanted for our week away was provided and we really enjoyed the welcome pack, especially the homemade biscuits!! The hot tub was an added bonus, which everyone loved. Hebden Bridge is a charming town, with a wide offer for eating out; Hardcastle Craggs is worth a visit for the woodland walks and can be reached by public footpath from The Retreat rather than paying to park on site. Our hosts were on hand to welcome us and available for any queries throughout our stay. - they have obviously put a lot of care and thought into the design of the cottage. We would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a restful and relaxing holiday.

We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Retreat. We were met by a very welcoming and friendly host who could not have been more accommodating. The house itself was beautifully designed and furnished with every commodity you could wish for. Every room had it's own individual style and the view's from the windows across the valley were breathtaking. There are a variety of stunning walks from the property which was great for our dog as well as ourselves. We hope to return very soon, and highly recommend this amazing, get away from it all, country home.
