Great location.. Lovley apartment. Great Highly recommended.

October 2020
We had an excellent escape from COVID19, with a centrally situated flat on the ground floor, which made access easy.. Everything was easy to locate and plenty of information when we needed it. The flat was quiet and very little noise from the floor above. We loved the relaxing settee at the end of a long day's walking and exploring. Great to have free parking in the nearby shoppers car park. Wih we could have had more time to explore locally. but would be happy to come back and do more another time.

Very pleased with the size of the accommodation and the convenience of a town centre position - 3mins to Sainsbury; 2 steps to the bus stop and very quiet for a town centre position.. Arrangements for access were perfect and very pleasant to be greeted with a personal message; wine and chocolates. Everything worked and was where you expected to find things. A very pleasant stay.

Great base for exploring the area.. Lovely walks along Hadrian's Wall and the South Tyne. Convenience of a nearby train station and supermarket, but countryside only minutes away. Flat comfortable and has everything you could need. Welcoming bottle of wine much appreciated!

Cosy and welcoming.. Parking round the back meant it was easy to keep an eye on the car.Being on the main street ,it was close to all amenities. The resturant at the Centre of Britain Hotel and a visit to Vindolanda are recommended.

A wonderful warm welcome and the chocolates went down a treat. The apartment is fully equipped all you need is yourself and a change of clothes, perfect location in the centre of Haltwhistle, will definitely use again. Thank you lan! (Sorry about my phone!)

Just had a 3 day break in this quirky, clean and comfortable apartment.. The Reivers cannot be faulted, nor the owners . Great base to explore this lovely area and its history. Haltwhistle itself is very quiet don't expect to much and it wont disappoint.

Hi. The Person that greeted us on our arrival was very friendly and made us feel wecomed.. The appartment in general was very good, nice and warm. Really comfortable furniture and bed. The wash hand basin in the bathroom was very tight (no way round this) and kitchen taps could do with a little attention . The main problem we encountered was the noise from the appartment above and its staircase,on several days this started in the evening and went on till after 02.00 am.This appartment is on ground level in the center of a village, so we expected a lot of general roadside noise and also from the general public late in the evening but this was not the case very reasonable. The Village and its people were great. We shall be back to this Village.

We were very impressed with the apartment. We contacted the owner prior to arrival to organise key collection. On arrival we werent sure where we had to park so we drove through the little archway to one side and parked round the right hand side (taking care not to block the garages). The place is lovely. Wonderfully comfortable sofa and chair - who doesn't love a recliner after a hard day's walk! The bed was really comfy. I had the best sleep I have had in a long time. The only reason I didn't give it 5 was because the bedroom curtains are thin and let in so much light from both street lighting and early rising sun (4am in the height of summer!). Much as I like to get out and about, a lie in would have been lovely. Kitchen was fine for a bit of holiday catering but there were so many places in and around the town we didn't really need to cook too much, just breakfast. The bathroom opens directly into the kitchen. To be honest I loved the place so much I wish I lived there. Sainsburys is just round the back. The Black Horse pub is just over the road. Takeaway is next door. Chippie just along the way. If you are a member of a union, take your union membership card with you and you can be signed in at the Working Mans Club as a guest. They show various footie matches and on certain nights they have cheap beer! So much to see and do in the area, we will have to try and book for next year when hubby has had his holiday allocated. We managed to get to Edinburgh in a couple of hours, travelling along the A68 through Jedburgh. What a spectacular road. You have to visit Vindolanda. It is an amazing place. All in all this was a wonderful find and somewhere I would readily visit again.

A perfect home from home.. Quirky use of an old drapers shop. Ideal location right in the middle of town. Great shops and pubs. Long and short walks all around the area, some from the accommodation itself- and country pubs to rest in. Great maps provided by Ian the owner. Loved exploring Hadrian’s Wall so nearby. Park in the free Sainsbury car park, it’s just along a short path behind the residence. There’s even a heated outdoor swimming pool a few minutes walk away. We will be returning.

A gorgeous apartment in a lovely little town.. Ian and Stella thoughtfully left a bottle of wine and box of chocolates to welcome us along with a lovely note. Everything is right on your doorstep. From the excellent food at the Black Bull or the wonderful fish and chips from Oceans, right next door, to Sainsbury's or Co-op a mere two minute walk away. There are some amazing walks and would highly recommend walking up Haltwhistle Burn and on to Milecastle 42 on Hadrian's Wall, stopping for a cheeky pint at the Milecastle Inn on the way back. We would happily return at anytime.

The Reiver's Retreat is a fantastic holiday accommodation - it is spotlessly clean, very comfortable & in a great location.. Haltwhistle is an ideal base to explore Northumberland and has many places to eat in, fabulous take-aways, friendly locals and a few dog-friendly pubs. We will definitely book Reiver's Retreat again! Thank you to the owners for their helpfulness and unexpected welcome goodies - the Easter Egg went down very well with the bottle of wine!

This is a great place to stay for visiting Hadrian's Wall country and further afield in Northumberland. There is a large living/dining room and all the amenities and furnishings are of a high standard. All the shops you need are close by, including a supermarket only a short walk away. We loved the location and the accommodation.

August 2016
The accommodation was really comfortable, a huge squashy leather settee and a leather rocker that we seriously wanted to bring home with us. The bed was comfortable too and the shower efficient. We cooked in every evening bar one and the kitchen had everything we needed. Haltwhistle itself is a charming little market town and we quickly found great walks for to go on with our dog.

I can't recommend this little place enough. It's in a great spot in the middle of the town. A couple of good pubs close by, and a sainsburys within 2 mins walk. The owners very kindly left a bottle of wine and some chocolate which was a very nice touch. The apartment was immaculate and had everything needed for a short or long stay. We hope to return. ( ps there is a observatory close by that we didn't know about so it would be worthwhile booking that in advance as we couldn't get tickets when we turned up).

On arrival we were welcomed with a touching gift and thought the pictures didn't do the appartment Justice. On our first night we heard banging at the front door, upon opening it we discovered a drunk urinating and vomiting up the door and on the doorstep, not the greatest start. We gave the place the benefit of the doubt, but the final straw was a young couple having sex outside the bedroom window, while we were trying to sleep. Having stayed in Haltwhistle before I thought it would be an ideal place as it looked so nice, now I know why it looks nice the cons out way the pros sorry, I wasted a full weeks money on this cottage as we left early almost a week early and booked into a B&B in the end which is a disappointment as we enjoy our cottage breaks but this wasn't a break In short I wouldn't go back or recommend this place

This is a lovely place for a couple to stay. It makes a great base for a touring holiday in Northumberland. In walking distant of Hadrian's Wall. The inside is done to a very high standard and is comfortable. There's plenty of shops, cafes and pubs in the village. The only downside is that it's on a main road but that didn't detract from our enjoyment of our holiday in any way.

Stayed here for a week in June. The apartment is centrally located in Haltwhistle with eating establishments, pubs and shops nearby. The flat is beautifully furnished and really comfortable with every possible amenity you could require. Really loved the sofa with the electrically operated footrest, great for relaxing after a long day out. The information provided by the owners on the locality is excellent. They have even returned, at no cost to ourselves, something that my wife left behind. Highly recommended for comfort and location

This is one of the best holiday rentals we have stayed in, Ian and Stella (owners) was so helpfull and the appartment was so clean and comfortable, the location was very good with all the local sevices so close by including a sainsburys a 2 minuet walk away. And of course one of the best bit's of Hadrians wall 2 miles away, we would certainly stay here again
