Holiday home
The Pudding Room is a contemporary first floor apartment above the owner's shop, in the hamlet of Knockerdown, close to Carsington Water. There is a double bedroom, and a bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. The open plan living area consists of a kitchen, dining area and sitting area with sofabed, and doors to a small balcony overlooking a small seasonal campsite. With Carsington Water close by, and the walking, market towns and villages of the Peak District within easy reach, The Pudding Room makes a lovely year-round romantic base.

Area
Situated in the south of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a wonderful example of an English market town. With a traditional market square, eclectic street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses, the heyday of this settlement came in the 18th Century when the town was a fashionable social centre. Many fine Georgian buildings remain from this era, adding an air of elegance to the town's heart. With numerous restaurants and inns, Ashbourne is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters. For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by, offering wonderful walking opportunities. Alton Towers Theme Park is just 20 minutes drive away and makes a fun day out for all the family.

Region
The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Lovely host.. Homemade cake & bottle of wine left in the accommodation for us. Location was fantastic close to a large lake, wonderful for walking / running around (8 miles) plenty of other walks too. Accommodation was very clean, bed comfy, big bath with plentiful hot water. It had everything we needed for a great short break.

Picture of property is 3 years out of date it now has a cafe on the side very nice.. My wife and myself were self catering so we had purchased our food before arriving although the kitchen was very nice we were a bit disappointed with the lack of storage space for food (No wall units) also No freezer . I also think it could have had a bit more information about the local area (Places to go and things to do)

Location of the Pudding Room is excellently positioned for exploring the surrounding beautiful Peak District countryside.. Ample parking next to the property. The accommodation is very comfortable and fitted out with up to date furnishings and household equipment. The Owner made us very welcome and kindly provided us with a 'Welcome Pack' on our arrival. Overall, the property is definitely one we will consider returning to for a future holiday.

Brilliant location.. Hardly drove anywhere, great walks/bike rides etc from the door. Photos don't do the place justice, bigger than we thought. We really appreciated the milk, cake and wine left for us. Loved the puddings! Really knowledgeable host. *warning*no WiFi or phone signal (which was actually quite nice, but might be an issue for some).

Would highly recommend the Pudding Room - lovely outlook and great for talking a short walk to Carringston Water.. You are also very central for getting to the local attractions. Hope to be back soon. Don't forget to take your cakes home from the shop - they are fantastic.

The pudding room was lovely.. Clean comfortable and very quiet, just what we were looking for. Arrival gift of wine, milk and a home baked cake were a lovely touch. Having a balcony to stand on and veiw the countryside was very nice. We walked the short distance to Carsington water and had an excellent ice cream (in the rain) The pub was 5mins walk and served lovely fresh home cooked food. Walk back in the dark was fun for us townies used to street lights!

Having just arrived home today after an amazing 4 night stay at the pudding room, I just had to put up a review. Our accommodation was fabulous, clean spacious and well stocked with everything we needed. We stayed here with 2 teenagers and all had a brilliant break!! The location was excellent with Carsington Water just a short walk over the road with all the water sports to enjoy as well as bike hire around the lake which was fabulous!! We also visited Dovedale, went quad biking and crossbow just a few mikes away We had an amazing fun packed 5 day break with fabulous accommodation to come home to each night. Would definitely return.

This listing , in the heart of the English rolling countryside, was ideally situated for us as it lay reasonably adjacent to two of our main destinations-Manchester and Derby.. It was very clean and tidy, and extremely good value for the price. The hosts were welcoming and generous, leaving a bottle of wine for us and a home baked cake. The hosts run a nice coffee shop downstairs with home baking and local produce. The apartment is upstairs, does not have wheelchair access and the steep stairs might pose a problem for some. For the able bodied, a tranquil and relaxed destination.

As mentioned in the description, there was some traffic noise from the road near-by, but this did not detract from the holiday at all.. The accommodation was excellent, being both very comfortable and clean. The balcony was a great place to sit and read and enjoy the birdsong in the evening. The owners were very helpful in suggesting places to visit and eat. Carsington water is within easy walking distance and offers plenty to see.

I called into the pudding room whilst out walking, this is a hidden gem!!! I had a coffee and a slice of cake, which was fresh and the cake was home made and so delicious! I also had a sandwich made to take away, that was lovely. Dogs are welcome and a big fuss was made of her. Would definitely go back!

2.5 years on we were back to visit the Pudding Room over Mother's Day weekend. It was once again a great place to stay. Visited Carsington Water and Gulliver's Kingdom as well as Ashbourne. The apartment was super clean and perfect for us and our now 3 year old daughter. The bed was very comfortable! Thank you once again! PS - What type of laundry detergent do you use as the bed linen smelt amazing!!

Celebrating our 21st Wedding anniversary, we decided to try and find a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.. Although it was short and brief 2 night stay due to work commitments this little place is amazing.. from the second we arrived to leaving we couldn't have wished for anything more relaxing. Accommodation was absolutely fabulous, proper home from home surrounded by peace and tranquillity. Thank you for our complimentary cake (which didn't survive the weekend) and the wine provided by the lovely owners of the pudding room - we were even supplied with a "just in case" jug of milk :-) a minute away is a superb country pub with delightful staff and excellent food. I would not hesitate to recommend this delightful retreat and will most definitely be returning.. If I were to give one word of advice as the darker nights draw in, when walking between the Pudding Room and the Knockerdown Inn use the fields and not the roads and definitely pack a torch :-) all in all if you want to spoil yourself, escape and relax this is the place to go - loved it and thank you x

Stayed here for 3 very comfortable nights. Spacious rooms with very tall ceilings. All home comforts with simple clean comfy furnishings. Great host, friendly and willing to accommodate any requests. Ordered some puddings and quiche previous to visit. They were all delicious. Easy to walk to Carsington Water, which we did twice , morning and one evening. Good decor with everything looking in very good condition. Great shower. Easy to drive to Matlock, Belper and Cromford.

The owner was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Can highly recommend the puddings too! We will certainly be returning. Thank you for a lovely week.

Very good location!! Carsington Water is only a 5min walk and is perfect for a walk round. Ashbourne was 15mins drive where it has a big Sainsbury's to buy food/supplies. On arrival the owner was very helpful and gave us tips and points around the property and guidance to the local area. Property was very comfortable and clean, presented to a very high standard with all the essentials needed for a few nights away. Very enjoyable!
