Cottage is 2.5 Miles from Hay on Wye town if you drive or a nice walk along lanes, fields, woods and streams. Cottage is well appointed and was presented extremely well and set within a lovely garden and adjoining fields. Numerous walks in and around for all levels and the owner was happy to to explain many of them. Friendly football playing dog (Molly) was a sweetie and welcomed us on our return from a day out. A lovely touch was the cake, a few tea bags/coffee and little jug of milk as a welcome. There is also a smaller apartment above the main cottage. We loved the wildlife and especially watching the bat at dusk from the kitchen window looking at the fields. Lovely cottage, owner and location. Nothing to do with cottage or owners but do check local towns for their shops closed days in order not to be caught out when requiring supplies.

The cottage and owner were perfect.. Sykes Cottages less so. The response to emails were poor and out of three I sent only one reply was received. This is a disservice to the cottage owner as well as the customer.

Mel and Sandra are friendly and helpful hosts.. Molly the dog loves to play given half a chance and is a delight; wish it had been summer when we could have indulged her more. Stargazer's Field House is a really comfortable apartment with plenty of space throughout and equipped with most things you could need. It is in a super handy location for Hay for shopping and within easy driving access to the hills for walking. We very much appreciated the cake which awaited us as we did the fact that there were Christmas decorations, including tree, for the festive period - not to mention the wood burning stove which added to the atmosphere. The bed in the main bedroom was really comfortable which, combined with the tranquillity of the area, meant we enjoyed seven excellent nights' sleep. There was no-one upstairs whilst we were there which I had been a little apprehensive about so we were truly undisturbed. We all enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend.

Mel and Sandra are very good hosts, they make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive, milk and cake was left for us, if you like walking see Sandra who has designated areas to walk all over the black mountains and the Brecons, the cottage is well priced for the quality, we would go back any time, keep up the good work Dave and Kath

A beautifully clean, well-appointed holiday cottage.. We found flowers, welsh-cakes and tea and coffee makings waiting for us on arrival. There are some lovely walks along the River Wye, and several wonderful gardens to visit, especially Brobury House Gardens. We would recommend unreservedly booking Stargazers Field House for a peaceful, relaxing holiday in first class accommodation. The visitors upstairs did not disturb us at all, we loved meeting the dogs, and it was a novel experience to have cows gazing at us through the dining room window as we ate.

We had a very enjoyable and peaceful week in Stargazer’s Field House.. The Pritchards were splendid hosts. It was a joy to be met with a fresh Welsh cake and fresh milk for drinks. Our hosts were also very helpful providing maps and leaflets about local walks. The cottage was very well equipped, cosy and clean, and contained everything that we needed. Hay-on-Wye is just a short drive (1.5 miles) away for provisions, or a 45 minute walk across the fields along the Wye River Valley Way. Coming from a town, it was very enjoyable to be in the calm and peace of the countryside, listening to owls in the evening, other birds during the day. The cottage comes with our unreserved recommendation. We look forward to returning.

The holiday and Stargazer cottage was the best we have had Except for the first night, someone was in the Stargazer loft and we would have had to go home if it was for more than one night.. We could here a pin drop so noisy would never go again if anyone was in the loft flat. Glad to say we had the rest of the week in peaceful non interrupted bliss. The dogs Molly and two others kept us entertained as well as the cows in the next field. What a holiday would like to go back again But not if anyone was booked in the loft flat.

This is a fabulous cottage for anyone who likes the peace and quiet of the countryside to relax in.. Yet only minutes away from Hay on Wye, and ideally located for many tourist attractions in central and south Wales, and the Midlands in England. The owners extend a friendly and warm welcome, including home-made cake and the makings of tea and coffee for anyone arriving without supplies. The cottage is comfortably furnished throughout, spotlessly clean, and with lots of thoughtful touches like the hand soap in the bathroom, the fresh flowers in the kitchen, and much more. Would unhesitatingly recommend this cottage for its comfort, location and value for money.

The cottage was beautiful.. The owner was very welcoming. Lovely location . The accommodation was spotlessly clean and tidy . Well laid out kitchen and very good bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, very good range of furniture. No phone signal at all . Only downside is the lack of sound proofing between the cottage and the property upstairs. We could hear them moving about and talking , I could hear them at night too. They complained about the sound of our television! Not somewhere for perfect privacy and peace .

The owner and her family were very welcoming, helpful and relaxed. They were there when we needed them but, always very discreet. We had an excellent week and the sun shone ALL week. My family enjoyed several meals outdoors in a beautiful location and the children had plenty of space to run about safely.
