Flat well equipped & there is a tumble dryer but a small clothes maiden would have been handy just to pop wet coats on etc.. I have already booked for next year

Another good holiday at this cosy little flat in Bowness.. It had everything we needed and is close to all local amenities. Pet friendly and a good garden for our little dog to run around in. There was 3 pet friendly pubs nearby. Would recommend to a couple with or without dog.

This was a nice, modern, spotlessly clean flat, in the heart of Bowness, with easy access to the town, the lake and beyond.. There were many positives, such as the excellent kitchen facilities, modern bathroom, the good size lounge area, the garden area and the fact that the flat was very warm. I am, therefore, reluctant to mention any negatives. However, it is important to be truthful when giving feedback. The bedroom area was very small and claustrophobic, with no room for a dressing table and without an accessible electrical socket, making it very difficult for hair drying etc. On a personal note, it was a problem for me, as I have a medical condition which means I have to plug in a machine at night while I sleep. I had to run an extension lead from the living room, which could have been a trip hazard in the middle of the night. The bed was hard and uncomfortable for me, although my partner found it ok, and I do realise a soft or hard mattress is very much a personal choice. Because the flat is built in a converted garage, it was dark with not much natural light coming through, and there was a lot of traffic noise because of the proximity to the main road. As mentioned earlier, there were many very good things about the flat, and the owners left us some mince pies and chocolate biscuits, along with tea/coffee etc., which was a nice touch, and made us feel welcome. The flat is very centrally located, and the fact that it is dog friendly is a big positive too.

Overall Park View was great.. It was an ideal location, decorated and finished to a high spec, had most things we needed there and deliciously warm in a cold wet November. That’s the bit to focus on. There are downsides. The design of the bed area is so wrong in many ways. It’s left the area too small and just not enough space for 2. And without extra bedding provided 1 of us couldn’t take up residence on the sofa to give more space. But what’s done is done. The owners aren’t going to move walls now. My advice to the owner would be if you could change the bed from solid divan to one with legs that would be a game changer as bags & cases could at least be stored there and not in the lounge. And more plug sockets in the bedroom area either side of the bed. More hooks would be hugely appreciated again to get things from being dumped around the lounge chairs or the floor. And a clothes airer is really needed. Every day we were coming back wet and we’re told there was a tumble dryer. But we didn’t want to put our hiking gear in there in case it damaged it. A clothes airer would have meant we could have put wet clothes in the shower to at least drip dry before moving near the fire to fully dry. Plus also we did do washing with the washer dryer and it took 3+ hours to wash & get dry and a couple of items of clothes shrunk in the process. What a terrible waste to the environment of all that electricity when clothes could have been drying in the toasty warm studio on an airer. But it was a great base and it was warm. We were lucky with some of the holiday makers above in that they were quite quiet, but others were not and we could hear everything. So when they had a cough keeping them awake all night - we got kept awake all night. So for future guests I’d suggest taking some extra bedding in case one of you needs to go on the sofa due to the space limitations of the bedding area & take some ear plugs to drown out the noise from holiday makers above. If you do that you’ll have the best stay here and I’d recommend on that basis.

Excellent one bedroom flat very close to Bowness town.. The accommodation was very clean and well presented with everything supplied for your holiday. The kitchen is great with again everything needed to cook during your stay. The bathroom was fine with a good size shower unit with lots of hot water. The small garden was great for my small dog. The owners even left us a box of chocolates. For us this was a great flat which we would book again and the weather was great all week. 5 stars from us.

This is the second visit we have made to this apartment and it won't be our last. It is a home from home. It has everything we need. Wifi, iron, hairdryer, dvd, sky.... the list is endless. We have a dog so the small garden is brilliant. We come straight out of the apartment and into the centre of bowness we don't have to use the car if we don't want to.

August 2016
The location of the property was ideal, only minutes from the centre of Bowness and lovely and peaceful at night. The property was clean and compact, ideal for two of us and a small dog. The patio doors opened out onto a secured enclosed garden with patio furniture, lovely for sitting out in the late afternoon sunshine.

Just home after spending 4 days (wish we could have stayed longer ) at Park View. Our children booked this for my husbands 70th birthday present as they know we love the lakes. Can't praise this wee gem of an apartment enough. Absolutely spotless and the quality of fittings throughout was exceptional. OK it's a studio but for a couple it's more than big enough, very private and the location is perfect. The weather was better than forecast, only one wipe out day, so very pleased with our stay at the Park View
Mr Simmons
April 2016
We enjoyed all of our holiday. Our home for the week Park View was amazing, we had everything we needed. It was great for the dog and in the perfect location. We would definitely love to return in the future and would recommend it to family and friends.

April 2016
Park View was very nice it had all you could require for a base from which to tour from we wished that the weather could have been a little kinder. The only downside to Park View was the noise from the above apartment which we imagined was their lounge kept us awake a couple of nights but maybe it was the people as well all in all very good.
Miss Jagger
February 2016

April 2015
Very nice property in an excellent location. The only problems we had was the noise from the accommodation above;we could hear the occupants snoring through out the night which resulted in us going home two days early as we were very tired. The other problem was the 'bedroom' which was tiny. The living/kitchen area was far too big for just two people and we couldn't see why an extra few feet couldn't be pinched from this area just to make the bedroom more accomodating. Apart from these two things the apartment was warm, clean and had everything you could need for your holiday.
Mr O'dell

Small flat but superbly equipped for all our needs. It was lovely and cosy in late November and in an excellent location.
Mr Shanks
November 2014
The apartment was perfect for our needs. It was warm, clean and private. The kitchen was well equipped with every appliance you might need and the washer/dryer was a real bonus as we had a very wet week. Instructions for all electrical appliances were in one drawer. The bathroom was spacious considering the size of the apartment and the shower was great. The lounge was comfortable and plenty big enough for two. We will certainly be using it again if we return next year, which we hopefully will. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
Mr Carr
October 2014
It was good to be back at Park View. Since my last stay there have been some nice cosmetic changes to both the interior and exterior of the property, which is to the credit of the propriortor . I look forward to visiting again over the Xmas period.

August 2014
The location of the flat was excellent, Bowness town was within a few minutes walk. The standard of the flat was also very good, very nicely decorated and well equipped. We particularly liked the provision of a washing machine which enabled us to do some laundry during the week (so less of a chore when we get home!).
Mr Moss

what a wonderful break from the rat race of life. Me and my husband stayed at park view in January 2014,although the weather had its off days this did not spoil our stay. Park View was very easy to find on our arrival and we were so pleasantly surprised of our accommodation. It was very clean, and very light , and had everything we could have needed. The space was well furnished and it had a modern beautiful kitchen, perfect for cooking those romantic meals. it was so close, a matter of 100 yards, to Bowness where you can find plenty of idyllic shops, catering for all tourists alike, from craft shops to Beatrix potter museum . There are numerous bistros and restaurants. The walks were beautiful with idyllic village pubs and cruises you can take to neighbouring villages. Park View was lovely accommodation (home)to come back to, rest and relax. Park View was perfect for us, very beautifully decorated ,quaint, very clean and very ideally situated , perfect place to stay. We couldn't recommend it enough , we will most definitely be returning. thank you web cottages

I booked this apartment based upon the price, location, photographs and the other reviews I had read on TA. Our only concern was that it was pet friendly and whilst we are dog lovers and have owned dogs we currently do not have one and we were worried about the potential 'doggy smell'. We need not have worried. Upon arrival we found a spotless, clean apartment with no smell of animals. It was so clean I found it hard to believe it was pet friendly. I do agree that it should be listed as a studio apartment as the bedroom is split with a wall that come across 2/3 of the way with no door but that does not matter when only two of you are staying. The apartment is extremely well equipped with a kitchen not out of place in a 3 bed house. All the appliances are top notch and nothing cheap. For holiday rental we were delighted with the standard. Its location is fantastic, close to the centre of Bowness ideal for all shops, pubs, restaurants and the lake. Another plus was the key lock on the wall meaning you could leave your keys every night without worrying about losing them.....in closing, spotless, very well equipped with good standard equipment, ideal location, will definately return.

My husband is disabled (ie walks with 2 sticks and sometimes uses a wheelchair) and before booking I ensure we are on one level, have walk-in shower and access is suitable. On this holiday we found there was a very steep hill leading from the apartment to the town which was totally unsuitable for my husband either with his sticks or his wheelchair. I mentioned this in a review I completed and was told by one of your staff to expect hills in the Lake District! I am aware that the area is hilly but I am also familiar with Bowness and knew that it is quite flat by the lake and park. The address of this apartment being park view I thought we were on to a winner. We did cope with the holiday but with difficulty and enjoyed ourselves. The apartment itself is lovely. What has upset us is the attitude of your staff when we mentioned this problem and as a result I am very hesitant about booking another holiday with your company.
Mr Proctor

Online booking process very easy and straight forward, once booked kept informed very well throughout as to our next steps. Once we arrived at our apartment we were very pleased. Would not hesitate to recommend Sykes cottages and the property Park View. Thank you.

The apartment is small but was well equipped with everything you need for a comfortbale stay. The kitchen is fantastic. The secure garden is also a great benefit for dog owners owners like us. The only point I would like to make is that we feel this should be classed as a studio apartment rather than one bedroom. The lack of a door into the bedroom because everything is open plan makes it more like a studio apartment. We only mention this so that you're not disappointed on arrival Other than that, this a fantastic place to stay in a great location. We would definitely book again and recommend to friends.

After reading the previous reviews, i was looking forward to a lovely clean well positoned cottage, and i wasnt wrong, this place is beautiful, so well looked after, and so comfortable. January in the Lakes was cold, but the cottage was so cozy with it remote control fires, and having sky tv was a bonus on the first and only rainy day we had on the Sunday. All in all its a really lovely place to stay. So close to everything you will need.

December 2010
This little apartment represents budget accommodation but size and budget isn't everything. What impresses when entering the apartment is the level of cleanliness and the fact that nothing seems tired or worn. After a few minutes in the apartment you begin to notice other good things: the fact that you have Sky TV, remote control lighting, a washer dryer and a dishwasher. But none of these things are fitted just for the sake of looking good on the brochure: everything is excellent quality: the washer/dryer is AEG and the dishwasher is Bosch. The owner of this place has really made an effort to make it not only welcoming but also a comfortable stay for a week or much more. When we stayed, during the big freeze of December 2010, a water pipe burst somewhere outside which caused no inconvenience except for a loud hissing of water. On contacting the owner, he visitied the property, rectified the problem and offered 'a large discount' if we ever wanted to book again. Better and cleaner than most hotel rooms and yet a fraction of the price. Oh and I forgot the location. Perfect.
Mr Willetts

December 2009
Excellent Service. Spotlessly clean, everything we needed included, comfortably furnished. 5 minutes walk from Bowness centre, 10 minutes to the lake. Great for using the lake steamers as a bus service. Bus pick up point at Lakeside, we didn't use the car all week. Plenty to do in Bowness, shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs. The lighting level was lower than we liked and we found it difficult to read without augmenting the lighting. You are working at the cooker and sink in your own shadow. We would recommend considering installing under cupboard lighting over the work surfaces and providing a reading lamp in the lounge area.

We loved the accomodation. I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends, family or anyone else. If I visit the lakes again, this apartment would be my first point of contact. Excellent condition all round. Good value for money.
