High Ridge is a welcoming second floor apartment situated in Ambleside within the Lake District National Park. This apartment sleeps four people and has a double bedroom, twin bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room and a sitting room. Ambleside has plenty to see and do, whilst nearby are Lake Windermere, where you can enjoy a ride on the Windermere Steamer, visit Lakeside with the Aquarium of the Lakes or William Wordsworth house. Note: One well-behaved dog welcome at an additional charge of £25.00.

All second floor. Two bedrooms: One double bedroom and one twin bedroom. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Kitchen. Sitting room with dining area.

Area
Ambleside is situated at the northern tip of Lake Windermere offering a great base to explore the area. Ambleside has a number of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as the annual rushbearing ceremony and the 17th century “Bridge House”. Also cruises, boat trips and watersports can be enjoyed on Lake Windermere.

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Excellent spot in the center of Ambleside A clean and comfortable Apartment and very quiet considering it was over the CO-OP store and a short distance from Ambleside tavern. It is fairly compact in the bathroom but a constant supply of hot water if required. I had a text from the owner telling me how to find it was needed as there is a tall wooden gate. Never had an issue with parking even though its on the road, will stay there again the dog found the wood flooring in the kitchen and dining area cool for him to sleep on. Found the double bed to have a firm mattress but comfortable, there is 2 single beds in another bedroom but didn't need them as there was only the 2 of us.

Leakage in the twin bed bedroom.. No wi-fi, shame, as these days is really needed and the TV signal was very bad. The double bed mattress very hard and the linen was not of good quality. Good locatio and comfortable, all the above can be easily fixed.

Leakage in the twin bedroom due to rain, had to place a bowl for the entire stay. No wi-fi, shame as it is really needed these days, especially that the TV had a very bad signal. The double bed has a very hard mattress, didn’t sleep very well and some better linnen ia needed. A cafetierre would be handy. Good location and comfortable. All of the above easily fixable to offer a good experience.

This is in a really central location (Ambleside) which is excellent for getting to most parts of the Lake District - and for use, for going to concerts in the Lake District Summer Music Festival. Very good facilities: well-appointed and good-sized kitchen; bathroom a bit tiny but fine, with good hot water; comfy beds and good duvets etc. Quiet, considering it's on a main street and above the Co-op. Owner was helpful with initial queries.

The situation is amazingly central in Ambleside, but the apartment is not generally noisy, though the Co-op below does trundle delivery trolleys up and down.. Excellent facilities, though we found the fridge a bit small and the icebox got iced up very quickly and 2 coffee making filters (rather than one) would have been useful. Otherwise, excellent kitchen and cooking facilities and everywhere very clean. We would certainly use this again. Previous comments have included references to thin towels - they were fine and not thin and to the single beds being flimsy, but they were fine too. Having a car parking permit was very useful. Thanks for a good stay. The owner was helpful when we rang for advice.

Great modern apartment in an idea location.. Only thing was the bed as my husband is 6ft 2 a double not quite big enough. It would accommodate a king size bed as the room is spacious and the living room has some paint flaking from the wall, just needs a lick of paint. Apart from that a lovely spacious apartment.

I think the problem with High Ridge is that at 5.. 30 every morning the coop.has it's delivery of whatever, the noise is terrible and anybody staying in the double room at the back is woken up, as we were everyday. Apart from that brilliant, great facilities and a good position for everything, had a lovely holiday

This was a reasonable accommodation with on street parking. Unfortunately the property was found dirty on arrival with mould in the fridge and the cooker visibly dirty. The property could do with a little investment to fix a broken cupboard, repair slats in the single beds which mean they are liable to collapse and give the walls a lick of paint. The double bedroom i assume is not part of the rental because of the damp on the main wall needing major attention. Even the highchair and Crib which we asked to be left out were in a dirty dusty cupboard. The location for accessing Ambleside and the surrounding areas was very good.

A well-appointed and well-equipped flat.. Good for local transport to access the fells. However there are some issues with the property that appear , from comments already posted , not to have been addressed: outside lights not working, problem with door on kitchen cupboard, light bulbs in the bathroom that have not been replaced. We expected some noise due to the location in central Ambleside however were kept awake several nights until around 2.30 am by people in the street shouting and singing. Also intruder alarms from local businesses were activated several times during the night/early morning. The property is advertised with one twin-bedroom. There is a double bedroom also but no bedding is supplied for this.

To Sykes Cottages: Would you please forward this message to owner of High Ridge, Ambleside (ref. 933760):- My wife and I greatly enjoyed our week at High Ridge, a very neat and well-appointed holiday flat, and hope to return there some time in the future. However, there are a few things which I should perhaps bring to your attention. * In both of the single beds, several of the wooden slats across the bottom of the frame (on which the mattress rests) are completely missing. This naturally makes the beds rather less secure and comfortable than they should be. * The remote control for the DVD player is missing. It is still possible to play DVDs, but without a remote it is not possible to access the extra features on them, such as episode selection, scene selection, subtitles, etc. A couple of other things are less important: * A light bulb in the bathroom needs replacing. * As you already know, a hinge on one of the kitchen cupboards still needs to be replaced. And I should like to make a couple of suggestions, which could help to make High Ridge even better: * A non-slip rubber mat for the bath when the shower is being used. (At the moment, the bath gets very slippery with soapy water from the shower. * A shaver point by the mirror in the bathroom. But, as I have said, we enjoyed our stay, and hope to return. Regards. Fantastic spacious flat in the very heart of Ambleside.. Parking was easy even though it was busy. Shops, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. The flat itself was brill. Fantastic kitchen. Huge lounge. Roomy bedrooms. Just perfect for our first visit to the lakes. 15 min walk to Windermere. In fact all the major lakes were within easy distance by car. All in all a fantastic week.

Location excellent and car parking permit essential and appreciated.. Could have been a lot cleaner. Decoration was tired looking. Mattresses and cushions were worn out. One set of towels p/p not adequate. Although Wifi was not listed I felt it should have been clear it was not available under the section no pets, no smoking etc.

High Ridge is a very good property in the centre of Ambleside.. It is very well equipped and is in an ideal location. There are steps to get into the property and , as the flat is on two levels, a few steps inside which would make it difficult for anyone who has mobility issues .

The photos of the appartement don't do it much justice: in reality, it is bigger! It was also so spotlessly clean, I imagined we were the first people in it. And the location, oh... Ambleside is gorgeous, and the appartement spot in the middle of that gorgeousness.

There is no info about where to put the rubbish, what bin and what day to put it out.. the light at the door needs fixing it only comes on when your at the bottom of the steps. forget the washing machine and fit a dish washer.

The apartment was very clean and comfortable and the location in the heart of Ambleside was excellent, there were in fact two bedrooms not one as stated in description.. Local ameneties could not have been closer with an abundance of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.

We spent a week here in July and were really pleased with it, would definitely return. Surprisingly enough, despite what it says here on Trip Advisor, the apartment has two bedrooms, one double and one single and there is plenty of room. It seems to have been recently refurbished. Although it is on the second floor you only have to climb one flight of steps to access the front door due to the way the land lies, although those steps are a fire escape. There are also half a dozen steps leading from the kitchen and bathroom to the rest of the rooms. It is well furnished and furbished, and the beds are lovely and comfy. The main problem for us was that there is no Wi-Fi.
