Situated in Madrid's youngest and most diverse neighbourhood, this apartment is near lots of great cafes, vintage shops, bars and restaurants. The entrance of the nineteenth-century building has been a little neglected, but the apartment itself is a sweet little haven away from the noise of the streets. We particularly loved the clever use of mirrors in the kitchen, the small but sweet balcony and the typical Spanish Creole patterned stone floor in the bathroom.
Home truths: *Access to this apartment is by stairs only – be prepared for some of lugging of suitcases up stairs to reach the third floor
*In comparison to the inside of the apartment, the entrance to the building is neglected and underwhelming
*Some of the walls in the bathroom have some noticeable signs of neglect and could do with a fresh lick of paint
*The twin room is a little too cramped – there isn't a great deal of space to unpack luggage
*Without a cushion, the bench at the dining table may feel uncomfortable after a while
