Dragon's Den Chester , Flintshire

Lovely apartment, friendly host, beautiful walks along river and in Grosvenor Park.. Watched as Chester shut down day by day, but Dragon's Den was a welcome sanctuary. Would have loved to stay longer but would have become fugitives! Great holiday, sadly the last anyone will have for a very long time.

I loved how the Dragon's Den felt very much like home with its beautiful house decor, beautiful natural lighting, cleanliness and its peaceful location.. The host, Mike, was very kind to my boyfriend and I, and we appreciated his advice about the more scenic routes to get to the city center and his homely touches in the house. It was an excellent stay and we highly recommend it!

Lovely self contained apartment which is very well equipped.. We loved the location, car parking space and being able to have a bath! Perfect for families with young children.

This is a very nice flat and I highly recommend it.. The only point I would draw to a potential visitor's attention is the low ceilings. I am 5ft 11ins tall and was just about ok with the low ceilings, but if you are over 6ft tall you may have difficulties.

Dragon's Den is central to Chester so easy to walk into the city centre.. It is comfortable and spacious and well stocked with kitchen equipment. The owner, Michael, provided bread, butter and milk, and shower gel, soap and shampoo, together with lots of towels, which was very much appreciated. It was quiet, with a lovely garden, yet on a bus route, so the best of both worlds. I hope to return.

Just like to say this place as a little gem for the price. Great communication with the owners, they were away for the weekend when we arrived but the place was set up perfectly. Lovely and warm when we got there and the place was spotless. Comfortable bed in the main bedroom and our daughter set the smaller single room up within minutes of us arriving. Lounge area was light and bright with the vaulted ceiling. Kitchen area had all you need but because it's in the attic of the house head space can be a challenge especially washing up ( my excuse to get out of doing it :)). Location is within a 10 minute drive into Chester or a 30 minute walk..... All in all we would 100% recommend Dragons Den to anyone wanting a relaxing stay. Definitely will be returning :)

Great base for visiting Chester.. Very clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities. Apartment is above the owner's House who is very friendly and not at all intrusive. There is a nice garden to sit out in if the weather is nice. It's a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk into Chester centre. The stairs up to the apartment are a little steep if you have severe walking difficulties although I managed them ok with my ms. Close to local shops and food outlets, and supermarkets a 5 minute drive away. As the apartment is an attic conversion there are sloping ceilings in all rooms but I was ok with them, and I'm 6ft 3ins tall. All in all we had a lovely relaxing 4 nights here and will definitely stay here the next time we visit Chester.

The cottage was perfect for our needs and a nice living space..

Dragon's Den proved to be an excellent choice.. The accommodation was clean, warm ( on chilly November days ), central to Chester and other tourist attractions. This was our first visit to Chester, having read other reviews which advised walking into the City and following the route info provided in the Dragon's Den information pack, we enjoyed a 20 minute walk to and then from the City. On the second day of our visit, we went to the Ness Botanic Gardens which were stunning, then continued on to Port Sunshine. Where we had an amazing walk seeing the houses, the war memorial, a visit to the Sunshine Museum and the art gallery. While in Chester we went to the tourist office and by chance found a leaflet 'Ultimate Attractions and shopping map' which was so useful and had money off vouchers to lots of places to visit. Dragon's Den was a great base for our stay, near to shops, a good walk to Chester City ( bus stops nearby if you don't want to walk). Clean and warm, we can recommend it. We would definitely book again if we are in the area. Many thanks to Michael for an enjoyable stay at Dragon's Den.

Lovely flat with an easy walk into centre of Chester.. It had all we needed for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend the flat and we will definitely be back.

A very well equipped spacious and comfortable apartment in a good location.. Near enough to the city centre to be there in minutes with easy access by car or public transport without the hassle and noise of staying in the centre. Also ideal for visiting North Wales and Liverpool while in the area.

Location and facilities were above what we expected, which enabled us to have a very enjoyable and interesting week..

We booked Dragon's Den as it was one of the closest properties to Chester.. Communications with and from the owner; Michael (via email) were very good just prior to the week or so before our arrival as I needed to check a couple of things. The apartment was ready on arrival and we were extremely impressed with it. It is light, spacious, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Kitchen items included a microwave, halogen oven, numerous pots/pans, array of knives and glasses. I think there was also a sandwich maker although we didn't use it. There was a 4pt carton of semi skimmed milk, butter and a loaf of freshly sliced bread left for us which was very much appreciated. All towels, tea towels, oven gloves, cleaning items including washing up liquid, liquid hand soap in both the kitchen and bathroom, washing powder, anti bacterial spray, bleach and toilet rolls were all provided. We always go well prepared when self catering but it left our pre-packed items redundant! There was also spare bedding if needed and a fan heater and a pedestal fan. There are literally dozens and dozens of tourist information leaflets for not just Chester but surrounding areas, takeaway food menus, bus timetables and an array of books in the lounge including several on the history of Chester. Sadly we didn't get the time to read any of them. There are also books in the main bedroom, a chess set, playing cards and a jigsaw puzzle provided. Michael came to see us shortly after we'd arrived to welcome us and to run through how things worked e.g. the freesat/tv, procedure incase of a fire etc. My husband mentioned that I have fibromyalgia and can get cold so Michael said he'd turn the central heating up. I found the apartment to be nice and warm anyway so did have to turn some of the radiators down on some of the days but this wasn't an issue. Within the "Welcome Information" sheet there is also a suggested walking route into Chester which takes you through a very pleasant residential area. It took us around 25 mins to walk it but we're not fast walkers. Due to the time of year we didn't get the chance to sit out and enjoy the shared garden - there is a small patio area with chairs for your use. We wouldn't hestitate to recommend this apartment and certainly plan to try and return within the next 1-2 years. There is also so much to do in the area and also the surrounding area such as Liverpool that we just didn't fit it all in! Thank you again Michael for a great stay in your apartment.

This is a very well equipped and comfortable flat with quality fittings etc.. built in to the roof space of the owners house. As a result there are areas where there is not much headroom but this is not a major problem if you remember to duck! It is well situated for buses to and from Chester or it is a pleasant 30 minute walk in to the town along quiet streets and then along the banks of the River Dee. There are supermarkets within a few minutes by car for all your grocery needs. The owner had left milk, butter and bread for us on arrival. Recommended, but mind your head!

It's a very clever (and totally self-contained) loft conversion above the owner Mike's bungalow. The accommodation is spacious, light, airy, and very thoughtfully furnished and equipped. The large living area is welcoming and comfortable, with two big leather sofas plus matching armchair, TV, loads of books, CDs, a classy chess set plus other games, and three drawers full of tourist information. The kitchen is 'compact', but has everything you need for a week (including some good kitchen knives, which are a rarity in holiday lets!) There's a thoughtful supply of kitchen essentials for people like me who manage to forget the teabags. The fridge was stocked with milk and butter, and there was a crusty loaf. Much more useful than the usual little packets of biscuits! The bathroom is a good size, with a bath and separate shower cubicle, and lots of fluffy towels, and some sachets of shampoo in case you have forgotten that as well as the teabags. The two bedrooms have comfy beds and there's plenty of storage space. The décor is cool, clean, stylish, with some very attractive modern oak furniture. It's also quirky, with sloping ceilings (and floor), beams, and a lot of little dragons hiding in the corners. It's near a busy road, but well set back. There's a good bus service from just round the corner into Chester, but Mike's information sheet includes instructions for a very pleasant walking route, along quiet, leafy avenues and lanes. We hadn't visited Chester for twenty five years, it hasn't changed much, still a lovely city. But to see it at its best, avoid Saturday afternoon / evening – unless you appreciate aspiring Footballers' Wives unable to stand up reliably on their heels, let alone walk, and young men with a taste for extreme hairstyling and noisy cars. The rest of the week it's a very civilised place to wander around and soak up the atmosphere! Thanks to Mike for making us feel welcome and at home. We hope to return.

Michael the owner was extremely pleasant and helpful.. The flat was lovely and we were not disappointed. Sometimes we have been to cottages ( not Sykes cottages) and they do not look anywhere as nice as in the brochures because they have not been decorated since the photos were taken!, Dragons Den was exactly as in the pictures online. We would be happy to recommend it to anyone.

Owner was polite and not overpowering, lovely garden and ideal location.. Their cats are adorable too. Many thanks and hope to return in the future.

We had a lovely stay at Dragon's Den.. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. Bread, butter and milk was provided for our arrival - a nice touch. The apartment is located close to the centre of Chester, we walked the route suggested by the owner on a couple of occasions and, even with a 4 year old, we were on the main high street within 20 minutes. The apartment was very clean - lovely fresh bed linen, plenty of towels and even soap, washing up liquid and washing powder was provided. We used to apartment as a base to visit Chester Zoo, Llandudno and Liverpool - all within easy reach. We would definitely return to Dragon's Den in the future. 5 * from us!

We had a fantastic stay at Dragons Den and will definitely visit again.. The apartment is just lovely, every need was catered for. It's very homely with lovely features, making you feel very at home. There is so much to see and do. We didn't have the best weather but that didn't stop us from enjoying our time in Chester, which is about a 15 / 20 minute walk. We also went for a wonder into the little village Saltley which is just over the border (but only a few mins walk) in Wales. Thank you for a lovely stay. *****

The cottage was all we expected and lived up to all the facilities listed.. The location was just right for us and the owners were friendly and accommodating. No hesitation in recommending the cottage or the site.

The welcome pack (milk, bread, butter etc.. ) was a really nice touch and having other consumables available to use was very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in Chester and Dragon's Den was a big part of that.

We used this property as a base from which to explore Chester and surrounding area. Excellent public transport links into town but only a pleasant 20 minute walk into town. The apartment was clean, well presented and well equipped. Lot's of useful information about the local area and tourist attractions was available. As well as board games, CD's, books and jigsaws. The owners had very kindly supplied some crusty bread, butter and milk for our arrival - very thoughtful. There is a supermarket quite close to the property.

A lovely property, had everything you could need for a comfortable stay, with lots of thoughtful extras. A short walk into Chester with regular buses from just outside the house. The owners were lovely and we will definitely go back!

A perfect location, only a 20minute walk into Chester City Centre. A stunning property, couldn't fault it at all.

DRagon's Den was perfect for the 2 of us, although it would sleep 3. It was also in an ideal location too. We parked our car in the private driveway and used the excellent bus service for the whole week to get into Chester, which is also in walking distance. We also used the buses to get to Liverpool, Nantwich and Cheshire Oaks. We looked forward to returning to 'our' apartment each evening as it was so cosy and comfortable. We are already thinking about returning in the Spring.

The accommodation was perfect for us. We felt at home. It was very comfortable and exactly what we needed. Close to shops and walking distance to the city centre. We had a lovely stay and look forward to when we might be able to visit again.

We had a very pleasant stay at Dragons Den, there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed for 5 nights and went into chester every night. The bus stop is just around the corner, we caught the number 16 (every 12 mins) which is a stagecoach bus and is only £3 for a day saver or £10 for a weekly saver or you can walk which takes 25 mins. There are some great pubs in Chester and if you like Italian food try the La Fattoria, the pasta is to die for. You can walk the old city walls which goes all the way round the city, quite unique and interesting. Going to Chester we would recommend Dragons Den.

It was a well equipped, clean apartment and good for purpose. We enjoyed our stay very much and the owner was very helpful.

La location est très agréable, très propre, à la cuisine fournie en ustensiles, au salon confortable et la literie exellente. Les propriétaires sont à la fois discrets et disponibles et ont eu la prévenance de nous fournir de quoi préparer le premier petit-déjeuner. Un espace dans leur jardin est réservé aux locataires. La location est située à 3km du centre de la magnifique ville de Chester. Voilà une très bonne adresse où nous reviendrons.

Dragon's Den is well equipped with good quality equipment. We spent a very enjoyable 10 days here. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week long break in November last year and it was lovely! Well worth the money! It's close to the local shops, one bus ride to the train station as well with the bus stop right outside almost. The house itself is very warm and cosy, a small kitchen but it comes with everything you need. The owners were very helpful, they left us a guide on things to do and local restaurants and they had even purchased us a few bits of food like bread and milk for our arrival which I think was a lovely thought. We really enjoyed ourselves here and would recommend this to anyone thinking of staying in Chester.

We found the Dragon's Den a great base to explore Chester and the surrounding area. We could easily walk into Chester as it only took 20 mins. The place was exactly as we expected and it suited us well. Very clean and nicely decorated, we were made to feel very welcome by the owners and the welcome pack was a nice touch.

A very comfortable nicely furnished apartment ideal for 2 people. It was useful to have a garage where we could keep our bikes overnight.

Very comfortable stay in this fantastic apartment, which has everything we needed. It was deceptively spacious, warm, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very small but perfectly formed, kitted out with everything you might need (I learned how to use a halogen oven). The lounge, dinning area, bedroom and bathroom were very spacious. The owners were on hand for advice if needed. We will return.

The owner was very friendly and helpful and the accommodation was very comfortable. Chester city centre is fairly close, about 15 to 20 minutes walk or an easy drive, although it is as easy to get the bus (bus stop nearby). Chester is a great place to visit and there is lots to see in the surrounding area.

We loved Dragon's Den and would recommend it to anyone. It was very comfortable and quiet and the condition of all of the furnishings and appliances was excellent. Our hosts were wonderful as well and were available if we needed them. Dragon's Den is well located in Chester - in a nice neighbourhood and a good walk to the down town area.

The Dragon's Den apartment was very tastefully decorated and was well equipped with everything we needed. The apartment is ideally located for the city centre, being only a 20-25 minute walk into town, or just a short bus ride away.

We enjoyed our stay very much and it was a surprise to find a Den so spacious.

The accommodation was light and airy. The gardens were beautiful and the owners were so welcoming and hospitable, nothing was too much trouble. I would stay here again as it is a perfect distance to Chester with both comfortable and pleasant surroundings. Also there is parking which is handy considering its very close to the city centre.
