Area
Situated at the head of Loch Long - the most northerly point in the network of lochs that extend from the Clyde Estuary - is the village of Arrochar. This region is very popular amongst climbers, due to its proximity to Ben Arthur, often referred to as the Cobbler, and various other peaks. Also in the area is the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The village itself offers an unusually large selection of shops, restaurants and pubs and is just a mile and a half away from another Loch Lomondside village - Tarbert. The impressive expanse of water of Loch Lomond provides a variety of interesting and exciting activities such as a gentle stroll through the Balloch Castle Country Park and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. There are numerous other walking and climbing opportunities throughout the region.

Region
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Was some practical issues eg heating broke but was given heaters.. Trouble was it meant being disturbed by workmen. Especially in covid times was not great. Went away to avoid people.

Lovly place note that this is a lower ground apartment with excelent views over the garden to the lock.. The owner was very friendly and helpful without being intrusive Although the property can sleep 7 if you use the bed sette the shower room is small and the kitchen/fridge could be a little small if you plan to do a lot of cooking. Convenient for the pub ,shop and fish & chip shop all just a short walk away very handy after a long drive.

The place was lovely and the view terrific, we spent the whole week exploring the National Park around Loch Lomond, and even going to Mull from Oban.. The only small niggle , and I say this because part of my job is selling beds, is that the double mattress is on the wrong bed frame. The mattresses are memory foam and should be on a slat or hard top bed frame with slats no more than 3 inches gap. The one here had 5 inch gap on metal bar frame so the mattress had a tendency to push through the gap and you could feel the bars, i just changed to another bed and it didn't detract from my holiday.

Lovely, comfortable, warm & clean apartment with fantastic views over Loch Long.. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need. The host David is a very nice chap, friendly, helpful & a good knowledge of the area. We spent a fabulous week here diving Loch Long & Loch Fyne. It was so nice to return to this cosy, warm apartment after a cold & tiring day diving. I recommend this place & we will certainly be back later in the year when the water is a little warmer.

Nice flat in a wonderful location.. Superb views over the loch up to The Cobbler. Well equipped and with comfortable furniture. Owner is very helpful too and also provided secure cycle storage (which I think needs adding to the listing?). We had a brilliant week's holiday with our teenage sons, did lots of good hill walks and had fun high-altitude poly-bagging.

The owner David who stayed upstairs was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area.. The negatives absolutely no occasional tables in the living room or side lights. Either the main overhead bright lights on or sitting in darkness. No cupboards to accommodate any food stuffs which had to be stored on work tops. All glassware where plastic etc: Tumblers, Wine glasses. Due to price this was not the standard we have normally found with Sykes Cottages which are normally very high standard and the cost for the weekend was extremely high. This accommodation is not a cottage and this has been misrepresented it is actually a ground floor flat of very basic standard really aimed at workmen and not families. The accommodation had 3 x bedrooms and siting room which all had individual locks the rooms all had small sinks in each one. The shower room had a small toilet and small sink which we struggled to wash in. There was second toilet again with a small sink. There was one light in the hallway but was at the bottom of the property. This property is better described as individual boarding rooms and not holiday accommodation. Once again the owner was very pleasant and knowledgeable but the property was total let down and so disappointing as this was our first experience of being away at New Year.

Gorgeous cottage with spectacular views of the Loch and surrounding mountains.. The cottage was cosy and provided everything that was needed to make a perfect holiday. The owner was friendly and approachable, offering lots of local advice on eating out and places to visit.

Best place we've ever stayed in.. Extremely well laid out house, Wonderful kitchen, very well equipped. Beds comfortable. Everything immaculate; it all seemed new. Balcony and garden very nice too, although just a little too cool to lounge around on for long (we were there in the middle of May). Good walks right outside the door. The only problem was that there's too much to do in the area, so we couldn't spend as much time in the house as we'd have liked. Problem solved though: We have reserved two weeks for 2018.

Splendid Location, terrific views of loch and mountains, comfortable reasonably equipped cottage, owner very helpful.. Only problem was the boiler would go off at times, and it was a little cold in the morning, but this was soon remedied, and there were electric heaters available. Not an issue in the summer I expect. Our two dogs had a wonderful time as well.

Great location - next to facilities but with fantastic views (being on Loch Long shore).. Great heating all day - really useful for drying out wet clothes and dog!! Superb walks from property, very friendly owner and locals. Shop across the road open till 10pm. Would definitely recommend - especially for dog owners.

We had a fabulous time at Cairn View. The location is stunning and perfectly situated for walking and sightseeing in a fairly wide area. The cottage backs on to Loch Long and is enclosed by adequate fencing to allow a dog to roam freely outside. There is a patio table and benches plus a barbecue when the weather permits. Double glazed windows throughout kept out the wind. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming and he did everything he could to make our stay memorable. The pub next door is very friendly, dogs are allowed in the bar and the food is great.

the cottage had not been cleaned properly surfaces in toilets etc had thick layers of dust, cooking utensils many needed washed before use, tray in oven still covered in grease, not really set up for proper self catering. We used £65 of electric on the key meter in spite of switching off all the storage heaters for 5 days!!! This is £20 more than i pay /month at home.Apart from washer dryer which is not suitable for outdoor base layer goretex etc there were no indoor drying facilities, not even a drying rack, The only thing going for it was the amazing view across the loch to the cobbler

The ability to sit and just look out over the loch at the hills was fabulous. The owner is very friendly and happy to advise/talk - and his lovely dog was a friendly face too. Arrochar is a good place to base yourself. All on one level so good for people who don't like stairs. Good parking. Quiet house despite being next to pub.

The views, and position were priceless and the owner is one of the nicest people you could meet. Nothing was too much trouble - our little grandson who holidayed with us was very poorly during our break, we spent most of our week in a Glasgow hospital. However the owner was very helpful and supportive to us, he even brought our grandson a present. We hope to go back at a later date to have a proper holiday.
