This cottage is very well equipped and although the bedrooms are small there was lots of space to relax in the living area.. We didn’t miss WiFi but had we been their longer might have wanted it. Great location in the village and great access to walks.

We all had a great week at anvil barn, it was a lovely barn and quirky with it's upside down layout, shame it had no garden but I could take the dog just up the road to a nice field, it certainly didn't stop us from enjoying our week..

The only reason I haven,t put exceeded expectations, is that mobile phone coverage in the village is very poor and the cottage doesn,t have WiFi.. that maybe a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your point of view. I thought it was great. ( the local pub has WiFi ). Both my wife and I thought the cottage was lovely and will certainly consider staying there again, the only real grumble we had was that there was no where to sit outside on some of those nice warm nights. It was only a problem because our dog had seriously cut her paw the day before we left for our holiday and was,nt allowed to walk more than a few yards, which is a bit of a blow on a walking holiday, we were all stir crazy by the end of the week. Bainbridge is a beautiful little village with a marvellous sense of community. There is only one pub in the village, the staff are very friendly and the food excellent, there is also a small café/bakery which is well worth a visit. they do a good range of sandwiches, ideal if you,re going off walking for the day. We are both looking forward to re visiting this area and exploring those places we saw but had to drive past.

We have had a really enjoyable time, my husband has some very fond memories of a lot of places on the dales.. He used to cycle with friends when he was in his late teens(he is now in his seventy’s) It was wonderful listening to him reminiscing about all the different places they went. There are so many wonderful places to go that we really didn’t have the time to see it all. The cottage had everything in it that anyone could possibly want. After a full day out it was good to know we were going back to a comfortable and clean cottage were we slept like logs and woke up ready for our next adventure in this beautiful place

An enjoyable stay with everything we needed, only minor inconvenience was the window in the side door in the double bedroom, it needs a blind on it to block out the light..

Lovely clean cottage in a nice village , pity about the local pub having two prices for the beer ,one for locals and one for holiday people ..

The property is superb, very clean and has almost everything! There are three points I think are worth noting; 1, The double bed mattress needs replacing it has completely sunk. This was the most frustrating issue we had during our stay as not getting a good night sleep is a real shame and not reflective of the quality overall. 2, The small door which leads outside in the main bedroom needs a curtain over it as there is a draft coming through this door. During our stay the weather was very cold and windy.... perhaps when the weather is warmer this wouldn’t be so much of an issue. 3, If you take a dog it isn’t the most practical location as there isn’t a garden. Overall this is a superb holiday home, we had an amazing stay the village of Bainbridge is stunning.... the local pub Rose and Crown is friendly and serves ok food (not the cleanest of places) but there are many great places to eat nearby.

This is a delightful cottage, well-equipped, and in a lovely little village. The village has a nice pub only 5mins away (dog friendly, food and even a pool table), and a tea shop for lunches literally round the corner. Lovely cakes there. If you do take a dog, be aware there is no garden, or yard. It's very cosy, has a very warm log burner - though wood is limited, you'll need to buy more if you want to rely on it for your warmth. The central heating warms up the place very well, however. There was a strange distant thumping noise we heard one night, and finally worked out it was people playing badminton in the adjoining local village hall! But it wasn't enough to bother us. It is well situated for local walks, and there are many nearby villages to visit. Hawes is only 4 miles down the road, and has a great many pubs to dine at. We tried The Crown, which was super for food, and had a nice selection of beers. Also dog friendly. Perhaps too dog friendly! The only thing that let this cottage down is the fact that it has no wifi. This wouldn't usually be a big issue, however there is also no phone reception in the cottage, and only barely one bar at a very particular spot in the village. There is also, crucially no landline - we felt that this presented all-in-all a bit of a safety issue if there had been an emergency. We would have needed to knock on doors for access to a phone, or run to the other end of the village for the payphone. Given the lack of all three, we feel the website should say as much to any potential visitors - it just didn't occur to us that no mention of wifi, meant no wifi! There is however some sky TV... and a DVD player. And some interesting jigsaws, and lots of books. And you should definitely go to the fish and chip van that comes round every weds. With wifi this would have been a 5 star review.

The location of Anvil Barn is perfect to access other places e.g. Hawes, Asygarth etc. The property itself was perfect - you couldn't ask for more! It's a home away from home and has everything you need - cannot fault it and would definitely return again.
