Self-Catering Reviews

Mr Drew, September 2020
September 2020
A delightful cottage which was spotlessly clean and really well appointed.. The facilities were of a high standard. The owners were welcoming as well Situated at the top of Mevagissey, it was easy to get out and explore all the surroundings. The walk down to the harbour using the cliff path had the most beautiful views out to the bay and over the harbour. There are several seats to rest and enjoy the views. It is a good concrete path with steps. There is a large car park in the centre of Mevagissey if preferred. The cottage has good parking and a pleasant garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

September 2020
The cottage was positioned well in a small cull-de-sac but be aware if you do not have a car the hill going in to Mevagissey is ok going down but you need to be fit to make your way back.. An Cress the cottage was extremely warm and comfortable it far exceeded my expectations in every way overall we enjoyed our holiday to this area and will most certainly be back. The booking agent Sykes Holiday Cottages were reliable and very efficient I will certainly use them again.

March 2020
Lovely house to stay in, only drawback being you definitely need a car to get around.. Mevagissey is a beautiful town full of little streets going here, there and everywhere and it has some wonderful shops and restaurants. We had a really nice time there.
Mrs Rathbone
February 2019
A lovely, warm, cosy cottage in a quiet cul-de-sac with a pretty garden with seating.. Be aware that the walk down to the harbour is short but very steep. Owners very helpful

This was our first experience with Sykes Cottages and we were really pleased with the quite location, available parking and the cleanliness and comfort of our cottage..
Miss Shawcross
September 2018
Lovely bungalow everything there we needed for a perfect base to explore.. Downside to the bungalows situation was the very steep hill if you go down to the village and walk back up again. Disabled people would definetly need to drive to the village and back.
Mrs Mckee
June 2018
Excellent base for us and our dog.. More spacious than other one bedroomed accommodation we have stayed in. Very clean and well equipped and would not hesitate to recommend it. Need to be fairly fit to tackle the hill walking back from Mevagissey.
Mrs Davis
June 2018

Mrs Welsh
April 2018
Loved this little cottage.. Perfect for two people. Beautifully appointed, wonderfully comfortable, spotlessly clean, deceptively spacious. Gorgeous little secluded garden. Thoroughly enjoyed our week there.
Mrs Kitchener
April 2018
Felt the accommodation could be improved by clearing the small garden of all the enormous bushes to make it pleasant to sit out in.. Currently you have to fight your way through to a small rusty table in amongst the bushes. It could be made really nice for visitors to sit out in and to eat outside. The bushes also make it very difficult to access the washing line.
Mrs Reeves
March 2018
Cottage was extremely comfortable.. It was the cleanest property I've ever rented. The only downside was the storage heaters which didn't seem to work so well so we had to have the electric fire on for warmth in the evening.
Mr Woolford
August 2017
Cottage was excellent with everything needed for a holiday.. The location was not ideal the choice was either a very steep hill into the village or a battle to find a car park. Plenty to do around but not much of note in Mevagissey.
Mrs Langman
June 2016
An Kres was a wonderful place to stay. The owners were very welcoming on arrival. It is situated in a beautiful place with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Would recommend.

The property was near enough to walk to the harbour but in a nice quiet road. Couldn't have asked for a nicer property, it is well decorated and deceivingly spacious. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely return to this property.
Mr Mann
August 2015
We were very happy at An Kres, it would be hard to find a better base for our holiday. All in all, if we go to Cornwall again we wouldn't hesitate to stay at An Kres again, the owners are very nice and nothing was too much trouble.
Mr Clark

Had an absolutely delightful stay.

April 2015
What a surprise we had when we arrived to this place. Situated in the harbour town of Mevagissey, this cottage was an absolute delight. The owners are very pleasant and left us to it the entire week which shows we did not have any issues. Everything was available to us. We had our dog too who loved the coast. There was lots to see and not enough time, we will be returning for a second visit next year no doubt. This is a must see place if you haven't already visited and this cottage I'd highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit Cornwall. It was close to everything we wanted to see. An ideal place for a couple and their dog.
Mrs Mitchell
March 2015
This is by far the best cottage we have stayed in. It is obvious the owners take pride in their properties and wish their visitors to enjoy the time spent in them. Spotlessly clean. Wonderful places to visit and the weather was not bad for March. Well done the owners of An Kres.
Mr Savage

The accommodation was extremely clean and well presented and very comfortable and cosy. We received a warm welcome from the owners, and although they were on hand for any requirements we may have had, they were not in your face. We would highly recommend for a visit to Cornwall with its lovely fishing ports, sandy beaches and cliff walks. Also lots of entertaining and beautiful places to visit.

We have just enjoyed a wonderful week at An Kres. The standard of accommodation is exceptional, extremely clean and we'll equipped. It's set within walking distance to the harbour, it is a steep climb back up, but don't let that put you off as the tranquillity of the location is well worth the effort. There is a small rear garden perfect for chilling out or eating breakfast on a nice summers morning. We travelled with our dog. We would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to return again next year.
Mr Hendrie
June 2013

December 2012
The accommodation was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly and helpful, there is a lovely garden to sit in, which gets the sun all day. It was a short walk to Mevagissey, where there were plenty of shops and the quay side, where we spent a lovely time watching the boats. It is a good base to drive to see the surrounding area, all within an hours drive.

December 2012
We found the position of an Kres ideal. The welcome was very warm and friendly from the owners and the cottage had every modern convenience one could wish for. It was very comfortable and had easy access to the village of Mevagissey and was not far from all the main roads to the rest of Cornwall. The nearby gardens of Helligon were wonderful and a treat not to be missed.
Mrs Storey
October 2012
Mevagissey is a lovely place to stay and an ideal base for coastal walks and visiting other quaint resorts and fishing harbours. The locals were very friendly and welcoming. The property is situated in a quiet location with parking which is a bonus.

October 2012
The cottage was really nice, very quiet and peaceful. Very nice welcome from the owner, showed us around and then left us to enjoy our holiday! Would certainly book it again if we go down there to stay. Good centre to explore the area.

We thought the location of An Kres was perfect and the owners were very friendly and most helpful, while not being at all intrusive. One of the most well maintained and equipped cottages that we have ever been to and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

The accommodation had everything you could ask for and as we had such terrible weather, on very bad days it was very comfortable just to spend the time in the cottage. The owners were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

March 2012
Friendly and helpful owners, comfortable accommodation in quiet location. Whilst An Kres was in a residential street and I had my concerns it is in fact the perfect location as its quiet and easy to park but close to the town and major access routes for days out.
Miss Ornumah

This property provided everything we could have hoped for in a Cornish fishing village. The owners are very friendly and quick to offer useful advice on where to visit and shop, and the property could not be faulted. It was ideal for exploring the middle of Cornwall with Heligan on the doorstep and many other Cornish gardens and attractions within easy travelling distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The property was clean and modern and had most things required for a rental property. Mevagissey is a lovely place but be prepared for the big hills.
Mr Gant
July 2011
An excellent base for 2 people. The owners gave us a friendly welcome and helpful information. Best place to eat was The Salamander but do book beforehand. Stiff 1 in 4 hill up from Mevagissey, 20 mins up from harbour. Much to do - walking on coast path and inland, gardens, National Trust houses, China Clay museum near St Austell.
Mr Ball

We loved the cottage, the harbour, Mevagissey and the many places we visited during the week.

November 2010
The 'cottage' was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The owners were friendly and helpful. The only reason I haven't given this 5 stars is that it was little further out of the town than we thought and not as private as we would have liked.
Mrs Regan
September 2010
Everything was perfect. The owners were friendly and helpful in providing information of places of interest. Would definitely go to 'An Kres' again.

July 2010
Great property which was like 'home from home'. Very well appointed, modern, very clean nicely furnished. Garden small but gets the sun all day at some part due to fab weather we were able to eat all meals outside. Good location in very quiet residential street, very steep hill down to/up from village which was OK for us as we are very fit enjoy walking! The owners who live next door are exceptionally friendly helpful, if required. We had a great time !!

I loved the cottage and the location. The scenery and the different places to explore were truly amazing. I would love to come back again. The ferry to Fowey was wonderful. December 2009
Everything had been provided for our stay in new condition; it was quiet, select and convenient as we did not mind walking the 25% climb up the hill from the port and quayside, but this might be a problem for some. Parking in town is expensive. There is so much to see and do within a short car ride.A memorable holiday week !
Miss Ward
October 2009
The location was excellent, though you'd need to be very determined to walk into the centre of Mevagissey. Proximity to St Austell was also useful. The apartment itself was modern and clean, definitely well looked after. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great, perfect after a long day out. The owners, who live next door, are very easy going and approachable.
Miss Loxley
