Cottage in Mid Wales in Hereford, Powys

Description
Nestled in the heart of the countryside, just a leisurely stroll away from the iconic town of Hay on Wye, this stone barn offers a truly idyllic retreat for up to eight guests and their four legged friends. Boasting breath taking views across to Hay on Wye and the Black Mountain. The town boasts a myriad of charming bookshops, local arts and crafts and a weekly farmers market showcasing local produce. For historians, immerse yourself in history at the impressive Hay Castle, a testament to centuries past, and as the sun sets, the traditional pubs and eateries beckon, serving local delights and fostering convivial atmospheres. The National Park is a haven for hikers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts. The meandering Wye River offers wild swimming, kayaking and riverside picnics. Whilst the Hay Bluff and Tympa offer a challenging climb with breath taking scenery, the Offa s Dyke trail can be picked up just 0.25 mile for the barn. Formally a cluster of barns that housed the boats used on the River Wye in times gone by, this spacious barn set within sympathetically landscaped grounds offers breathtaking views towards the medieval castle of Hay on Wye and the Black Mountains. Enter via the generously sized porch, and take a seat to remove muddy boots and coats before you step into the barn. A spacious entrance hall offers access throughout the barn. A couple of steps down lead into the heart of this barn, the cool and contemporary kitchen where culinary adventures await. Craft delicious meals while enjoying the company of loved ones gathered around the central island. From here you'll find a spacious open plan living area with vaulted ceilings and picture windows that invite natural light to dance across rustic beams. A dining area with a table and seating for eight guests lends perfectly for celebrations, along with a large corner sofa adorned with colourful cushions, perfect for relaxing in front of the wood burner and watching a classic movie on the super sized TV. A garden room with comfortable seating makes a great space for relaxing with a good book. Coming back to the entrance hall, guests can access the ground floor king size bedroom. This room enjoys access to a garden patio with seating, along with an en suite wet room with walk in open shower and WC. The ground floor also has a utility room with a washer/dryer, and a separate cloakroom WC. The first floor offers guests the choice of two bedrooms. The first is a generously sized super king size suite with views across to the castle and surrounding hills, and an en suite shower and WC. A further generously sized room offers two full sized bunk beds suitable for four guests. This room also offers a games table with pool, table tennis and air hockey, perfect as a den. Completing the property is a family bathroom with free free standing bath with a handheld shower and WC. The gardens that envelop the property are a natural extension of your living space, with many openings throughout the barn. Enjoy al fresco dining with the BBQ, star gazing whilst enjoying the warmth of the fire pit, or simply bask in the tranquillity of your private outdoor oasis. There is ample parking and storage for bikes.
