Rhodewood Lodge is an impressive, solid home, on differing levels both inside and outside, making it a fascinating place to stay. The kitchen has every item needed and there are seating areas for everyone to be together or to separate for quieter pursuits.
The rooms are large and airy and all decorated beautifully. The beds and sofas are all comfy and many rooms have seaviews, others have garden views. The hot-tub, hammock and swing set in lovely lawns and terraces are enough to keep you at the house, but if you have good hill climbing legs you can explore all around by foot.
Just opposite the house is a wooded walk to the beach if the tide is out, from there is a sandy walk around the harbour to the village. When the tide is in, it is a walk up/down the main path (or higher wood) with lovely views en-route. There is a Tuk-Tuk taxi in the village for those too tired to walk back.
Saundersfoot shops are a mix for tourist and locals, with all the wonderful ice cream, fudge and gift shops plus clothes outlets and hardware. And there are endless places to eat locally and further afield. Next time, with Covid just a memory, we will try horse-riding and sailing too.
It's a stunning base for a holiday, rain or shine.
