Cottage in South Wales in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire

Description
This charming cottage sits in an elevated location within the rich countryside of the Llanover Estate. Here, guests can truly relax and enjoy the rugged landscape of the national park. An ideal base for walkers with access to the Beacons Way from the front door where you can climb higher into the landscape to enjoy views across the surrounding hillsides and Black Mountains. There are many routes for cyclists to explore and keep your bike in the secure storage. The national park offers plenty to see and do with attractions that include The Big Pit at Blaenavon (6 miles), Brecon Mountain Railway (22 miles) and Zip World Tower (30 miles). Abergavenny is just 3 miles away, a vibrant market town with a variety of shops and memorable places to eat and drink. Further west lies the quaint market town of Crickhowell (8 miles). As part of the Llanover Estate, guests are offered the opportunity to enjoy a visit to the private Llanover Garden, experiencing the ponds, streams and unusual plants. Enjoy the views out to the Severn Estuary or towards the Black Mountains as you cross the Monmouthshire to Brecon Canal and into the Brecon Beacons National Park, driving through the rural landscape of mature beech trees and hedgerows, before turning into a rugged drive with livestock grazing in the adjacent fields to Ffawydden. The cottage is tucked into the hillside with south facing views down the valley or towards the Skirrid. This seventeenth century cottage is adjoined to the original barn with its original oak beams and flagstones. Nowadays the barn is the main entrance into the cottage and provides a very useful and secure place to store bikes, muddy boots and coats after an enjoyable day exploring the surrounding National Park. The barn leads into the sunny and well equipped kitchen with its south facing views and sun terrace. There is also a utility room and downstairs WC here. From the kitchen, a couple of steps lead into the dining room, which is warmed by a wood burner and has a circular table with seating for six so you can catch up over supper. From here, you will access the cosy living room, set at the front of the cottage with original oak panelling, an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and a Smart TV. There is also access to a small snug/study offering a quiet space if required. The first floor is accessed via a stone staircase that winds up the side of the huge fireplace with its former bread oven. On the first floor, guests have the choice of three generously sized bedrooms all enjoying views across the open countryside. One king size room and two 2'6" twin zip and link beds that can be made into king size on request on request. The family bathroom completes this floor. Outside, guests can enjoy a sunny south facing balcony with stunning views, a table with benches and a charcoal BBQ.
