Area
Cemmaes is a lovely little village surrounded by the rolling hills of Mid Wales set in the stunning valley of the River Dyfi. With a pretty village church, scattering of houses with lanes leading down to the river, the welcoming Penrhos Arms and a well-stocked general store stocking fresh produce, Cemmaes is the perfect little place for a relaxing retreat. Continue onto the small market town of Machynlleth. The streets of the town spread out from the 19th-century clock tower, and offer a good mix of specialist shops, pubs, and cafes, including Blasau Delicatessen, Skinners Arms, Y Gegin Fach, takeaways, and regular street markets held every Wednesday. The town boasts two art galleries, and is home to the Museum of Modern Arts, Wales, which showcases the work of a variety of international artists, as well as staging concerts and lectures in its 400-seat auditorium. From Cemmaes you can easily access Dolgellau, a popular town in the Snowdonia National Park, where you’ll find the Royal Ship, Dolgellau Park, Lemon Grass, Tafarn Y Gader, and wonderful selection of shops. For a day along the coast, head for Aberdovey, where you’ll find a beautiful beach, an excellent golf club, and the fantastic Seabreeze Restaurant serving up fresh seafood and enjoying a fabulous location along the estuary.
