We really enjoyed our stay at Bryn Y Don Cottage.. It was very easy to find following the directions given. The cottage was clean, bright and spacious and the kitchen was fully equipped.
The cottage is in the middle of Benllech village, with a wide range of local facilities available within easy walking distance, such as a Tesco Local, several takeaways, pub and seafood shop. I recommend the Golden Fry chippie, which does an excellent click and collect service. The beach is a ten minute walk away, with a very wide beach at low tide. Dogs are permitted on the northern and southern extremes of Benllech beach, though these sections are inaccessible at high tide. There are several other dog-friendly beaches a short drive away.
From the cottage, the beach is visible, as are Mount Snowdon and other peaks. The sea is actually only a few hundred yards away and makes a nice relaxing sound from the patio.
The cottage makes an excellent base for visiting local attractions. We took our dog with us to walk across the Menai Strait via the Menai Bridge and then the short distance along the coastal path to Church Island, which is a small island accessible by a permanant tarmaced walkway which is home to the small St Tysilio church and adjoining graveyard. We also visited the railway station at Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll which is nearby.
We have also been to Holy Island to take a walk down the 400+ steps to Short Stack island and its lighthouse, although it is currently not possible to cross the bridge to the island due to Covid restrictions. In any case, dogs are not permitted on the lighthouse tour.
We would highly recommend this cottage and have already booked our next stay.
