This detached cottage is a former entrance lodge to a country estate and boasts wonderful estuary views. Located on the outskirts of the seaside resort of Aberdovey, this property is full of character and features beams, slate flooring, the original bread oven, a wood-burning stove, underfloor heating and original ornamental fireplaces in the bedrooms. With sleeping space for up to four people, the accommodation of this cottage has been sympathetically restored and is composed of a kitchen, dining room and cosy lounge. Note: Cottage is set on side of main driveway, which leads directly onto A493 - children should be supervised and there may be some traffic noise. Note: Private, fully-tested water supply.

Renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course, the picturesque harbour village of Aberdovey is often referred to as "an artist's paradise". Packed with pastel coloured cottages, small shops, inns and excellent restaurants which specialise in local seafood, the settlement offers a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Aberdovey boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, including four miles of golden sand dunes running north to Tywyn - home of the world-famous Talyllyn Steam Railway. Popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen, these beaches make a wonderful spot for a day trip, whilst the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts. The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are also close by and offer a range of walks at different difficulty levels.

I booked Braich-y-Celyn Lodge through Sykes Cottages for a week. The cottage is in a fabulous location with lovely views over the estuary. BUT. We had problems with the cottage. There was no hot water when we arrived which we would have expected as the immersion heater should have been on that morning. We discovered that it was set to come on for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon but it was only set at 20 degrees. We were told that it was to provide hot water for the kitchen sink and the bathroom hand basin. We should us the shower to bathe.If you advertise a bath with shower over you expect to be able to use the bath, why advertise bath if you can not use it? The cooker oven did not work and there is no microwave oven. We tried to contact the owner but got no response so called the caretaker Alan. He came out to sort the problem out for us on the Saturday evening and was eventually able to get it to work, apparently this problem had happened before. There were signs of slugs or snails on the lounge carpet and on the stairs and the whole cottage needed a good hoovering. While we loved Aberdovey and hope to return in the future we will not return to this property. We wrote to Sykes Cottages when we came home about the problems we encountered.

The cottage is in a wonderful spot. All front windows look out over the vast Aberdovey estuary. We could not stop looking at the changing tides, bringing with them changes in colour and texture. The outside seating area is much better in reality than the promotional photo. It is completely off the main road and you could eat outside or sit and read in the shade of the trees. The cottage is cosy and well furnished...we wanted to stay longer. It’s location is excellent, close to Aberdovey and yet very quiet and peaceful. On arrival we did have to go and purchase toilet rolls, washing up liquid, dish cloth and paper towels. Cooking equipment, especially for baking / roasting is very limited, but if you plan not to self cater, it is fine. Take a cafeteria if you want coffee. For some reason power to all appliances was off when we arrived. It took us quite a while the work out how to unlock the oven and hot plate and various other items. Once sorted we had a great time and we would recommend staying here.

Lovely stone cottage situated in a quiet spot overlooking the beautiful estuary.. The views are incredible and always changing depending on the tides and weather. It was very restful sitting on the patio in the sunshine watching the views and estuary birds. Good use has been made of the space and the facilities were good with little luxuries like the wine cooler and heated towel rail. The underfloor heating was very comfortable and we didnt need any additional heating during our stay. Thanks for the welcoming bottle of wine - we enjoyed it. Aberdovey is a nice little seaside village and is centrally situated for visits to neighbouring market towns and seaside resorts. Thank you for a very nice stay.

The lodge is a wonderfully homely and comfortable dwelling in a superb location with stunning views.. Our only complaint is that we didn't book for another week! The description of amenities within the Lodge was spot on and everything you could possibly require is catered for. The little touches give the Lodge that cosy and much loved feel. The surrounding villages are picturesque and we would definitely like to rebook this cottage by the sea. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you fora wonderful stay.

My elderly mother and I had a very good week staying in this cottage with plenty of room for four if needed. My mother was a little anxious about the gap in the banister at the bottom of the stairs but she adjusted and after that we just enjoyed its cosiness and superior views. It is very well equipped and has lots of little touches that show the thoughtfulness of the owner. We would stay there again in a flash as apart from its own features it is a good centre to explore and enjoy the mid Wales area.

Excellent choice great views over the river dovey.. We found this a very cosy cottage, even though on the main A493 did not notice the traffic at all very quite at night. Well place cottage for driving Snowdonia & mid Wales. We stop here back in 2011 and we still talk about the Braich Y Celyn Lodge.

the house is well placed and easy to find, the layout was modern and well layed out with comfortable beds. For our first first holiday in Wales this was a good location to pick, we found plenty of places to go and eat, we dined out 6 out of 7 nights. We will defenently going back soon.

Very quiet isolated location although it was near the main road. Traffic was very light and did not trouble us. Very good parking space for two cars. Made welcome by the owner with a bottle of wine. Views excellent from the cottage. Generally well equipped for most of our needs. We would love to stay there again.

Our week spent at Braich Y Celyn was most enjoyable in a very comfortable cottage situated in an ideal private location. The advantage of being able to park outside is quite considerable for aberdovey, and the close proximity to the main seafront area is really convenient particularly with the free car park pass provided. The cottage is warm and comfortable with all modern conveniences apart from a microwave which would be difficult to fit in. Everything was as promised on booking and we will look to stay there again.

A very pretty cottage, with wonderful views from every window. Close to Aberdovey, which is a pretty little town with plenty of places to eat. Though it might be advisable to reserve a table on a busy Saturday evening. When we lit the woodburning stove in the lounge it was really cosy. The cottage is nicely decorated and we should really have counted how many decorative hearts we could find!

The location was intimate and a perfect place for getting around Wales. The landlord had thought of everything to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible, even down to the little touches such as leaving the card for the video shop. There was a huge welcome pack that gave us lots of information for the local area. The decor was superb and really made us feel at home by using quality products throughout. A fantastic property all round!
