Great communication before we arrived and good directions to the cottage. It is part of a restored workhouse, so lots of history. Easy to access (when you leave the main door, pull the handle up and then a little towards you are you turn the key). Stayed in many cottages and this had the best provision of essentials. Towels etc, toilet paper, tea and coffee, all there for us. The cottage was immaculate, very well maintained and the decoration is a very high standard.
Parking permit for the car park opposite. This had put us off to begin but it is a very quiet car park, just back from the high street. It is very convenient as you do not have to try and find street parking. The permit can also be used in other car parks. There is a booklet on the cottage essentials and in the footstool there are further details, very well presented, to local walks, etc.
Communal gardens, which was good for our dog although we tended to walk her around the lake most times. I cannot speak highly enough of the cottage, my husband found it a nuisance to have to go downstairs to the loo but I didn't find this a problem.
The location is excellent. A short cut through to the supermarket and the high street, with all the local amenities there. Despite being so close there is no noise at all in the cottage, so perfect. The lake is 2 minutes away, with walks around it and close to the narrow gauge railway.
I would highly recommend this and if we return to this area we will book again.
