Situated in a heart warming setting and close to the town, Hen Ysgubor Cottage is a lovely retreat in a peaceful part of Wales. Note: One well-behaved dog welcome.

Area
The town of Bala rests within Snowdonia National Park and is located at the head of Llyn Tegid, Bala’s famous lake. Home to a variety of watersports including fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and whitewater rafting. The town itself holds a collection of interesting shops, inns and restaurants, and an historical Town Walk. Surrounded by the wonderful Berwyn Mountains on one side and the beautiful Snowdonia Mountain Range on the other.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

Lovely quiet location with fantastic views.. Woken every morning by lambs bleating and the local pheasant. Accommodation was more than adequate and made a perfect base for days out. The nearby lake was well represented for activities for the kids as well.

Lovely cottage with great facilities.. Location is ideal for a relaxing break in North Wales, really enjoyed.

The cottage was very well kept, beautifully finished and very very clean.. We met the owner of the cottage on arrival and he gave us a tour of the place, showing us where the appliances are and making himself available whenever should we need help. The cottage itself is set back from the town up a quiet country road and provides tremendous peace and tranquility. We were very happy to walk up the hill back to the cottage after days out/trips to the pub, it only burned off those extra calories! However in Bala itself there are plenty of places to park if you didn’t fancy the walk back. All applicances worked like a dream, the washing machine came in handy a couple of times after some muddy hiking as well as sailing on the magnificent lake. We are very happy, and are planning a return in the near future.

Great location - a relatively short walk into Bala (though the hill is quite steep! ) where there is a good selection of nice pubs & restaurants. Also a good location for water sports on Bala Lake, where you can hire canoes, kayaks & paddle boards, and cycling, and of course the walking in the nearby Snowdonia Mountains. The accommodation is very well equipped and the owners are very friendly & helpful - we had a great week away & look forward to coming back again in the future.

Lovely clean accommodation.. only disappointment was photos depict large garden area available. this was actually away from cottage, and was an area in owners garden that we could have access to. This is not ideal for all dog owners. Fortunately ours are happy to stay close and not run away and there was a small private road and grass edge outside door we could use. But this should be made clear in details. Owners were very quick to resolve a couple of small issues we had in the cottage, also provided a couple of fans as it was very warm. The place was very clean and lovely and quiet.

Cottage was warm and welcoming.. Kitchen was nicer than my one at home!! Friendly hosts. Only tiny negatives we noticed during the week were the bumpy drive and hitting our heads on the bathroom cabinet when washing your face. Small things when you consider the positives of the accommodation.
