Both the apartment and the staircase were a pain to clean. On the first day, we had to clean the floors, kitchen counters, and bathroom. It seemed as if no one had even swept a broom in months. The refrigerator is old and needs to be defrosted regularly; we had to do it ourselves because the frost made it impossible to store food. The electrical system is old, and it's difficult to connect the outlets; everything is connected via extension cords. The overall condition of the apartment is neglected.
