Inside the abode, it’s a blend of traditional features and contemporary design – we loved the exposed timber beams and stylish white, grey and blue colour scheme. The fully-equipped kitchen is all mod-cons and the island provides plenty of prep space. Upstairs you’ll find quiet bedrooms, one of which has its own free-standing bathtub – it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day spent exploring the surrounding towns.

Speaking of which, charming Cortona, known as the setting for the book and movie “Under the Tuscan Sun”, is a ten-minute drive away. Pore over the vast collection of bronze, ceramic and funerary items in the Etruscan Academy Museum then enjoy the dish of the day in a local osteria.
