This historic home is the perfect base for your Sicilian escape. For starters, the location is hard to beat. Nestled on Ortigia Island, the Piazza Duomo is just steps away, the local market around the corner, and the seaside port just a short walk. A flight of stairs leads up to the home, but with two balconies to relax on – one overlooking the island’s rooftops – it’s worth the climb. At full capacity, two guests will use the sofa bed in the living room, but we think it's a small compromise for such a prime spot.

*At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
*If you're travelling with little ones, your host may be able to provide a cot and high chair for free. You'll need to request them in advance.
*The en-suite bathroom features an open layout into the bedroom with glass doors and a view into the shower – modern in design, though it does compromise on privacy.
*There's no lift here. You'll need to be able to climb stairs to reach the entrance of the home. Plus, there's a further staircase inside.
*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.
