This apartment is part of a 15th-century estate and offers a taste of Italian tradition. It's set in Massimo Visconti, an easy drive from Stresa. We love the communal garden, with its sun-kissed terraces and all-important swimming pool. Although other guests have access to the pool and patios, we think the Lake Maggiore views make sharing worth the effort. It's no surprise the interior is old-world in every sense – we find the design charming but it won't suit everyone. Alongside the two-bedroom apartment, there's a small single room that could work well for guests wanting more privacy.
