Looking to place yourself right in the bustling heart of Menaggio? This apartment set just steps from the café-lined piazza and the lakefront is right where it needs to be. Better still, when it’s time to explore other Lake Como hotspots, the nearby ferry terminal makes hopping over to Bellagio or Varenna easy. A great choice for a family stay, the small twin room works well for two young children sharing, though it may not suit everyone. But we think it's a small trade-off for the front-row views of Via Calvi and the church seen from the Juliet balcony and bedroom windows of this home.

Home truths:
*If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair for free. You'll need to request them in advance.
*The apartment is located on the second floor without lift access, so be prepared to climb some stairs.
*You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob and microwave. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
*The second bedroom is quite small with limited storage space. However, it has everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep.
*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise and church bells throughout your stay. That said, the double-glazed windows keep things quiet at night.
*If you are staying longer than a week, linen changes can be arranged. Please request this with your host in advance.
