The Old Deanery Cottages are located just outside the town of Ferns. They consist of 6 charming renovated cottages in the courtyard of the beautiful Old Deanery House, which dates back to 1735 and is sorrounded by 7 acres of mature gardens.
In total they sleep 27 guests and they are mainly 2 bedroomed except for one 3 bedroomed and one which just has 1 bedroom.
For large groups taking up full occupancy, they can have use of the converted barn facilities for dining and entertainment purposes. It can seat 30 guests comfortably for sit down dining and many more if just for finger food etc. The Barn has seen many momentous occasions and uses: Birthday Parties, Hen/Stag Parties, Family Reunions, Wedding Vow Renewals, Photo Shoots, Recording Studio – the list goes on and on. If only these old walls could talk, what happy stories they would tell…
We love to work with you to customise our space to make it your place. Don’t forget, The Barn is surrounded by acres of private gardens that are also at your disposal – so if the weather is friendly you can feel free to take things outdoors!
And if the party goes on into the wee hours, you only have to skip (or trip) across the stone courtyard to one of our Holiday Cottages.
We encourage guests to arrange their own catering, music and bar services – but are more than happy to be on hand for advice and connections.

The Cow House •3 bedroom courtyard cottage, sleeps max 7 adults •Upstairs: bedroom 1 contains 1 double & 1 single bed with ensuite shower & w.c •Upstairs: bedroom 2 contains 2 single beds with ensuite shower & w.c •Downstairs: bedroom 3 contains 1 double bed with a full bathroom ensuite. Open plan living / kitchen area with kitchen (fridge, cooker, microwave, dishwasher) oil-fired central heating, TV/DVD and open fire place. The bedrooms in the 3 bedroom cottage are a good size. If your party consists of 7 adults, the dining is split between a table for 5/6 persons and a bar counter for 2 persons.
The Sheep Shed •1 bedroom courtyard cottage, sleeps max 2 adults •Upstairs: 1 double room ensuite, additional bathroom •Downstairs: (with bath). Open-plan living/kitchen areas with fully fitted kitchens (Fridge, cooker, microwave, dishwasher) oil-fired central heating, TV/DVD and open fire place •Free Wi-Fi
The Stables •2 bedroom courtyard cottage, sleeps max 4 adults •Ground floor accommodation: separate fully fitted kitchen, Living room with wood burning stove. Shower and w.c. •Upstairs: 2 double bedroom one with an ensuite shower and w.c. Small private garden to the rear of the cottage. •Note this cottage does not have a bath. •At present no Wi-Fi due to it’s location.

Hen Party Accommodation
Glam Hen Parties are something of a specialty at The Old Deanery in County Wexford. We aren’t sure if it’s our location (just 1 hr from Dublin and Waterford on the N11), the unique 17th century setting, or the privacy that Hen Parties love most. Or perhaps it’s all the activities that are within easy reach of The Old Deanery. Maybe it’s the option to use The Barn for catered dinners/cocktail parties, offering both atmosphere and intimacy. Whatever your Hen style – we look forward to help you plan a weekend that is uniquely yours.

Here at The Old Deanery we cater for small intimate Weddings and Vow renewals. The capacity of our cottages is 27 guests and the Barn (our rustic function room) can seat up to 40 guests. It's the perfect place for an alternative relaxed and intimate Wedding.

I am very happy to recommend The Old Deanery in Ferns to anyone looking for a break away from the norm, especially in these difficult Covid-19 times. I have just returned from a most enjoyable hen party at the venue and cannot imagine anywhere more suitable or more fun. From start to finish we found the accommodation and facilities to be excellent. The present, but never intrusive, owners were available whenever we had a query and really made every effort to ensure that the weekend was a success. The accommodation was lovely – plenty of room to keep socially distant – and charming and it was obvious that the cleaning crew take great pride in their work. The facilities outside were ‘magic’ – lots of little nooks and a central courtyard which allowed for gatherings and craic. There was also a large dining room (owners recommended an excellent caterer for us) and an outside covered area as well. The beautiful grounds provided the ideal showcase for our outdoor games and a yoga class (again organised through the owners of the property) was much enjoyed. Various add-ons can be organised for visitors and the cocktail reception on our first night got us off to a great start. A menu of available packages will ensure that everyone finds something they enjoy. We had complete freedom to make the most of this fantastic venue and although it’s really so good that I’d like to keep it to myself I really do feel I should share the joy and let others know about this ‘little gem’ in Wexford. From ’clan gatherings’, to hen parties, to re-unions . . . any event will be made all the more special at The Old Deanery.

Just home from a family gathering weekend at The Old Deanery Cottages in Ferns.We were a large group and as such had exclusive access to all of the wonderful facilities that this great venue has to offer.The cottages are so comfortable and beautifully located in a courtyard setting.We could have our own cottage and still feel part of the group.Outside BBQ and eating facilities are top class as is the Barn .The Barn is perfect for evening meal/entertainment with it's cozy stove and great table for 20+ and all the table ware provided .We self catered and BBQd which was great fun .There was nothing we needed that wasn't provided .The venue has everything required for a truly enjoyable stay.The little touches such as beautiful fresh flowers on each table (outside and in) and the welcome pack in each cottage was impressive .Everything spotless and Covid hygene catered for .The reception on evening of arrival in the atmospheric setting of the cellar in the Deanery was the perfect launch to the weekend as people arrived separately and gathered at 5pm to a cozy cellar with stove and candles then off to the Barn for the evening.Everything is located within 20 yards of the cottages !Thank you Brianna for your friendly but unobtrusive presence and for making the Deanery experience so enjoyable.Perfect !
