The vicinity is also noted for good food and traditional Irish bars.The Beara Way on Beara Peninsula has a designated nature walk signposted for 196kms. A cable car will take you to Dursey Island where you can see basking sharks from the coastline. The Mizen Peninsula and lighthouse, Barleycove Beach, and Crookhaven are all interesting day-trips. Sheep's Head Peninsula is a walker's paradise for bird watching as well as whale watching.
Historical Bantry House features concerts throughout the season and is definitely worth a visit.
