Skellig Mor at Beara Holiday Homes are architect designed and built to low energy specification. They blend with the architecture & natural surroundings of the area.

These are four bedroom detached houses, finished to a modern theme. They comprise of a spacious kitchen/dining room, a living room, two twin bedrooms, one en-suite and two double bedrooms, one en-suite.

Sea Angling - deep sea boat or shore fishing is available in Kenmare River or Bantry Bay and in many well marked sites along the coast.


Walking - the well mapped Beara Way walking route passes near Beara Holiday Homes.


Horse-Riding - local equestrian centre located in Castletownbere.


Cycling - the Beara cycling route is well marked and bicycles are available for Hire in Allihies and Castletownbere.


Dinghy sailing - boat hire and tuition at West Cork Sailing Centre.


Meditation Dzogchen Beara retreat centre – run by RIGPA, a worldwide Tibetan Buddhist organisation. Dzogchen Beara offers retreats under the guidance of Sogyal Ripoche, author of the best selling book, “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying". People come from all over the world to attend the centre. There are often classes available and daily meditations are open to anyone.


Genealogy - many people come to the area to trace friends and relatives and track down ancestors. The very helpful genealogist, Riobard O'Dwyer, author of “Who were my Ancestors" is often able to help. His research is considered one of the most detailed in the whole of Ireland.

Allihies:

The village itself is a quaint, unspoilt traditional Irish village, with many pubs and brightly painted shops which together create a very relaxing ambience. There is an abundance of traditional Irish music in the local pubs.
Allihies is an old copper mining village with the remains of the mines still clearly visible. At one time the area was the largest copper producing area in Europe.
