Set in a former vicarage built in 1722 on the grounds of a castle in the lower Altmühl valley, this home rejects Bavarian traditions and instead embraces baroque design in all its extravagance.

One look at the living room and dining room will show you what we mean — loud colours, antique furnishings and a copious amount of objets d'art make for a truly maximalist environment. The rest of the home is a little more sober in style, but there are still luxurious touches, such as the ornate four-poster bed frame and the bathroom complete with a marble tiling and a freestanding bathtub.

Outside, there are plenty of quiet spots within the communal garden, as well as a shaded terrace. Beyond the boundaries, guests will find plenty of distractions in the local area, whether that's wandering about the historic town of Riedenburg less than ten minutes' drive away or taking boat trips along the River Altmühl.
