Eleri Cottage lies on high ground just below North Hill and is a good base in the Hereford/Worcester area we wanted to explore and as well as easily catering for us four humans it was accommodating to our dogs with an enclosed garden.
Eleri Cottage was one of the very best at which we have ever stayed. Beautifully appointed with tremendous attention to detail in every aspect, the owners, Tamsin and Paul went out of their way with welcome gifts and a myriad of little touches in every room to make our stay so enjoyable and for us to want for nothing.
The interior of the cottage was exemplary in terms of facilities, cleanliness, neatness and tidiness and it truly was a home-from-home, even though we never did quite manage to get the “mood lights” either side of the fireplace in sync! The garden too provides for pleasant seating, and as well as comfy lounge chairs there was a barbecue.
Our two dogs were made especially welcome with blankets, towels, bowls and treats and though the garden seemed quite secure, Paul was quick to arrange some additional mesh on the garden gate to make sure that an inquisitive nose did not push its way through. It is that sort of service which made this cottage exceptional.
Malvern proved a pleasant spot, the cottage being midway between Great Malvern and Malvern Link. There are plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and the like and we were well-placed for excursions to Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, Tenbury Wells, Upton, Worcester and the Severn Valley Railway.
Just one note: Think twice about visiting Malvern if you don’t like hills. Not only is the walk out of the cottage up a short hill but everywhere else in Great Malvern seems to be on a slope and the schlep from Malvern Link is not one to try with a load of supermarket shopping! The walks in the Malvern Hills are wonderful, especially on a clear day but they are hills and though the paths are generally well-defined and signposted they can take some getting up and coming down!
